Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I have not...thinking of unloading some stuff though.
I've been using my buddy's 4x12" Marshall cab with Greenbacks, and now I think I need one...and they are $$
...I also want this thing called a "Radial Voco-Loco" which is just a box that lets you patch in guitar fx to a vocal chain, but the damned thing is $259....
So I am thinking I need to clear some stuff out.

I was considering getting one of those 9000 series preamps myself, but instead bought a Realtube rack preamp. Did you get the tube version or the solid state model? My realtube preamp doesn't really do much for me, nothing that I can't do with one of my other amps, so I might end up putting it back on ebay.
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Just picked up a 50th anniversary USA Strat. It the Lonestar edition with the Duncan pearly gates humbucker and the texas special single coils. Aztec gold with rosewood. Lovin it so far.
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
There was a JB Player at the local consignment shop for $150. It was beat, but still had some of the built in wireless stuff. I didn't buy it, came back the next day and it was gone.ElToro wrote:I am selling two JB Player neck thru strat projects, a Modulus Graphite neck, a Les Paul (fake) project and an Epi Chet Atkins if anyone is interested.

Tube version like I had back in the day.. they rock! Peavey made a good one back in the day too. No tubes = no tone in my book.T.O.N. of green wrote:ElToro wrote:I sold a bunch of stuff and bought a Peavey 50/50 power amp and a Marshall 9001 preamp

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I went to a Guitar Pedal Expo over the weekend...it was a wing of a hotel, with each room set up with a different manufacturer's showcase.
I ended up buying and Earthquaker Devices TERMINAL fuzz...which is just awesome...
It is so fuzzy and wrong...you kick it on and it sounds like Satan just took a shot on your amp...GLORIOUS.
The other company I was really impressed with was JHS pedals...I spent a lot of time with their Silvertone Twin Twelve and Supro Thunderbolt Pedals. Both sounded great, and unlike a lot of manufacturers who's "amp in a box" pedals always sound muffled (I am looking at you, WAMPLER) they sounded clean and clear. Very nice.
They also had a killer dual disto/boost, analog tap delay and whatevet this thing was, The Warble Tron:
...it was a giant box, supposed to be a uni-vibe sort of thing, but it was phasey and chewy...really fucking noice.

Thanks, man. I love that amp. But it truly is collecting dust and I'm looking to justify the purchase of a good set of custom mold IEM's.ElToro wrote:That's an amazing deal!Triumph wrote:Any interest fellow Sludgers?

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Does Epiphone make a value wise good semi hollow body or are there any other makers out there that make a good one that doesn't break the bank?
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
My favorite guitars bar none are my Epi semi hollows. Rivieras are my thing. I have a '67 and a 2000's one. I prefer the newer one.
Mind you, I do a lot of work on a guitar...swap out the pickups, reshape the neck...add a tonepros bridge...as long as the neck and body vibrate right together, I can make something that sings...
It seems when I pick up an Epi semi, it feels pretty good, with the occasional one that falls into excellent.
That said, Gretsch has a new series of semi-hollow Electromatics that I find myself feeling lust for. They have a spruce center block...necks are a little chunky, but once they hit the used market, I might pick one up on the cheap and have my way with it.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I love the Rivieras, too. But I'm a Gretsch man. I played one of the new centerblock Gretsch models, and although I hate the way they've re-shaped the f-holes, it played very well and sounded great. The centerblock allowed some pretty heavy distortion and I played it really loudly without any feedback. My beef with them is that as stated, I don't like the pointed f-holes, and I don't like Gretsch models with rosewood fretboards. The entire Electromatic line is great, though. Really pretty high quality guitars that match or are better than their much more expensive counterparts, in quite a few cases.

That's kind of a classic Gretsch feature though, so it doesn't bug me.
I used to have a 1950's Gretsch acoustic arch top with those cat-eye f holes.

To me, the classic Gretsch f-hole looks like this:
I'll also mention that I don't like guitars with 3 humbuckers, either. Most of the new center block models have the 3.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Epi's are actually decent, but try to buy used because they are a bit high for an import guitar. Their 335's do rock though.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
As I joined a band a few months ago, I've had to get myself some new pedals. I discovered Wampler. Oh man. SO good!
My recent acquisitions include:
Wampler Triple Wreck (soooo thick and heavy!)
Wampler Faux Tape Echo
Wampler Plextortion (I plugged an ESP into this pedal... INSTANT George Lynch tone, I'm not even kidding. I ultimately decided not to use it for the band, but it's definitely a keeper for studio work.)
Digitech Luxe (detune chorus similar to the chorus setting on the Whammy pedals)
