Re: The NFL Thread
I feel their pain and sympathize but anyone using the CTE acronym without understanding it is an idiot. CTE is a scare tactic like our color coded Homeland Terror Alert System, placing all the blame on concussions is wrong, misconstrued.Crazy Levi wrote:Guys like kramer, Seau, Andre Waters...it's a fucking epidemic. And I sympathize with them.
You do too? Great...that's news to me. All I hear out of you and fat truther is how pussy vagina tampon the game is, I had no idea you acknowledge there's actually a problem. Nice to hear.
The increasing problem they're facing with current and retired players has a lot of factors and Steroids is one that should be the headline.
If you don't think drugs and that life style is a huge contributor you're blind and haven't done your research....If you do then the players, the teams and the NFL are all to blame.
Now this is LEVI, if you say you don't care why, then stop bringing up CTE or "Concussions" because you don't know what you're talking about. It's not just the VIOLENCE of the game....If you want to blame something using labels blame drugs, the NFL and the players who used them for this increasing problem. Because CTE is still an abnormality anomaly.
I've spent years on this subject, played for years and took PED's for a jump start at a young age. what's pissing me off. Is everyone including YOU, the NFL, the MEDIA and a side of the scientific community blaming CTE without mentioning the effects of Steroids along with it's connection to CTE. There's a direct fucking link but no one want's to admit they created and encouraged this problem in the beginning. They want to say it's the hit's to the head, helmet to helmet bull shit. Golden Richards is the only one with an NFL lawsuit who at least takes some responsibility.
Simple terms, sure,
anyone with brain trauma can have the symptoms these players are suffering from. CTE is a abnormal build up of protein "Tau" in the brain that can only be proven after you're dead. This build up "probably" causes these symptoms.
FACT - Steroids does create these symptoms, causes them and makes them worse. PED's effects tissue and protein buildups so when a player takes Steroids he's disrupting his body system but more importantly when he quits the rebound effect is severe, it stops the player from recovering at a lesser rate then NORMAL. This major gain and loss has rapid and serious side-effects physically and emotionally because the rebound is extreme. It directly effects and suppress your immune system that includes your brains ability to recover on top of the damage it does by enhancing protein metabolism the secretion of protein build up that attaches to your cell receptors creating a buildup of muscle tissue/protein...."CTE is an abnormal protein build up in the brain".....That would mean PED's would increase the chance of CTE dramatically.
Steroids create a psychosomatic state to the body and brain, physically and emotionally putting both in a state of rage. People wonder why more players are getting injured, suffering from brain damage and are having extreme emotional problems, beating their wife's, to depression and committing suicide. They're blaming hit's to the helmet for this? FUCK THAT. Take some responsibility. They knew what they was taking and knew the game they were playing....Not understanding the long term effects of drugs and sports is about the only defense.
So fuck CTE, The media, NFL, Players and the scientific community for pushing it onto the world while avoiding any responsibility. They should be focused on the effects the drugs used was the lightning rod for the increase, not the helmet. What they have done is changed the game instead of attacking the root cause.
Anyone caught using PED's should be banned for life just to protect them from having life long injuries.
I'm for making the game safer but if your still not going to stomp out PED's then you're still going to have problems. There's not just a problem, there's multiple problems and CTE is only hiding the real issue. Head hit's isn't as big as a problem as the life style the NFL and Players lead.

Secondly, talk about not keeping up with the twists, I said last season was good games. It was 2013 around the time Ahmad Brooks was flagged and fined for sacking Drew Brees including it lost them the game. That was the panic button season with inconsistent flags, rules, changes and mass chaos that ruined the game for a lot of people and sent panic through ones like you......They've chilled and it's better. Clear?

Looks like the only game to care about this week is Friday's Chief's vs Titans game.
Titans are talking a lot of shit about letting Mariota run wild against Kansas City with their version of the zone-read. I've yet to see him play, if he can run the zone-read effectively at this stage I'll be impressed.
Not sure what KC will do to counter, but it will show his progress and decision making ability either way.

The game is an exhibition. Since when do any of the results matter much?
When week 1 begins that is when you can evaluate a team or a rookie QB
like the kid from Eugene

Re: The NFL Thread
Agreed, preseason or not giving the Rookie control in the zone read you'll get an idea of what he's got just from his reads. I could care less about the game, I am curious to see if he has a brain to make the right reads and decisions or if he looks confused, runs, or makes a dozen 5yd passes. When the season starts, it's a different ball game.Machado wrote:UtahUtahRatt wrote:Looks like the only game to care about this week is Friday's Chief's vs Titans game.

I just came in, turned on the telli to a baseball game and the sports ticker was all over RGIII. It said they've even put out trade offers with no one interested. One thing you will be able to count on, I bet you will see three different starters in Washington this season.
Someone needs to stop talking to the media or get a new PR department. Hey RGIII looked like he was headed for a great career and got injured and hasn't made a comeback. If he starts on the bench so be it, but talking about him in the media it's going to motivate him or the team.

AFC wild cards: Buffalo, Denver
NFC division winners: Dallas, Green Bay, New Orleans, Seattle
NFC wild cards: Arizona, Philadelphia
Super bowl: Indy over Seattle.

Haven't come too much other then Dallas should still have a breeze in the East. One change of mind is the Eagles might be better then the a disaster. If their defense holds up, mainly their secondary, they might win a few but I doubt they'll contend.
Think the Saint's are looking at a long road. I picture the south as a race of mediocrity.
The Rams and the Fish will be interesting teams, the Rams were pulling RB's out of their ass last year. I'm still not sold on the Fish but they've peeked my interest.
Hum.....I'll have to go over it all before making a final call. The AFC looks to have better division battles.

9-7 or 8-8 will win the NFC South. I'm not sold on Chip Kelly or Sam Bradford's knee. If he can stay healthy he may be a beast in that system though. I'm all in on Miami this year.UtahRatt wrote:I was just pondering my predictions. Indy vs Seattle is a good call.Gritt wrote:My predictions for this season.

Re: The NFL Thread
Haven't given enough thought to go with division winners but the Indy/Seattle SB is what I'm predicting as well Just the other way around when it comes to who will win.
The Pats shut'em down good in last years playoffs and I see Seattle's defense pretty much doing the same thing.
Luck is the real deal and will get there just not yet.

Re: The NFL Thread
I'm starting to feel the shine has worn off Seattle. Teams are starting to figure it out and losing people like Okung is finally catching up to them. I am sure the team will be a playoff contender for years but I don't expect them to make it all the way this time.

Can't say I recall any NFL organization that has gone out of its way to embarrass and ridicule a player on the roster. Being a Dallas fan and hating the Skins as much as I do, the situation up in DC is entertaining.

Can't keep him. Circus, and if he does play and gets hurt, you are stuck with him and his $16 mil next year. That same contract also makes him untradeable.
I wish him nothing but the best. At this point though it's important to show that Snyder really isn't making the roster decisions and that this is a real rebuild. It would be very encouraging.

Unsure of the release date but Will Smith is going to tackle the
NFL concussion dilemma with his own film, "Concussion"
Based on the trailer alone, the movie looks terrible.
PBS made a better film and that should be shown nationwide

Re: The NFL Thread
I don't blame Shanahan one bit. You could take the entire Seattle roster and coaching staff and put them in DC in Redskin uniforms and they'd instantly turn into a 5-11 team. The only solution for them is for Snyder to sell the team. He has so deeply damaged every facet of the franchise that the only way they will ever be good again is for him to be gone.Tymaster wrote:I really thought Shanahan was going to take Washington to the promised land.
