Asteriskrod being sued by ex brother in law for $100m. It was a real estate deal that went bad because of Rodriguez somehow, but 100 million dollars bad? Get the fuck outta here.

The Mets have a 6.5 NL East lead. I was almost ready to hand Washington the trophy before the season started

The Twins have the lead in the 2nd WC spot. How long has it been since Minnesota was possibly playoff bound? Geez.

MLB.TV is $9.99 for the rest of the season.

NL West race
Cubs 2 Giants 4
Dodgers 7 Reds 4

Giants 2.5 back

Utley's error with 2 outs leads to 3R's
Joc lost his starting job to prospect Enrique Hernandez .305AVG in 67G
The Dodgers lead the league in homers, hit three home runs in the same inning for the fifth time this year.

Another Jim Johnson update, another 0.2IP 1H 1R 1ER 1SO

Jim Johnson Atlanta - 2.25ERA 48.0IP 12ER 2HR .256AVG 1.23WHIP
Jim Johnson Dodgers - 20.25ERA 6.2IP 15ER 2HR 1HB 4BB .485AVG 3.00WHIP

------------------------------------

KILL, like you, the West maybe the weakest teams but I think they'll have a harder time making the playoffs then facing the Cub's or Met's. I'm not buying into them making it deep into the playoffs. It's just a feeling. Also like you've said....The Card's...Good luck getting past them.

Or the Cubs for that matter. Chicago is learning how good they are. I think if they make the playoffs and get eliminated it's because they don't have the experience outside of Lester.

Anything could happen but I think ( with the exception of Toronto, holy shit ) the rest of mlb's chance is hoping the NL Central beats the hell out of each other first. Pittsburgh has a lead on Chicago, but I don't think they're a better team. As I implied earlier the Cubbies are just coming out of their infancy. They should be better and pissed next season. Especially if they go a distance in the playoffs.

I'm digging the hell out of this season. There's a lot of contenders and the arguable best is without their ace. I can't think of a single time that has happened before. Your #1 is out, not as effective or having an offseason, but out, and the entire staff steps up and dominates in his absence. I thought St. Louis would still be good but not that good.

I'm indifferent to the Cards but want to see them win a ring without Pujols soon. They've been in the playoffs every year since he was "insulted." Winning it would be the ultimate "Albert who?" Although I gotta admit if it came down to Chitown vs. St. Louis I would pull for the Cubs.

I'm not buying into the Cub's just yet. They're a hot, hot team but they remind me of the Puig season Dodgers 2 years ago riding on a spark from hell rather than a power house like the Card's.
I'd take the Giants or the Dodgers over the Cub's come playoff time.....

Other than Don Mattingly's ability to make all the wrong moves in the playoffs, his misuse of Kershaw alone should get him fired. It's more Mattingly fault for Kershaw's short comings then his one inning problems. Over used and put in at the wrong times. The last couple seasons Don goes into the playoffs with only 2 pitchers. Ryu should have at least 2 more starts instead of riding Clayton into the ground early, save that for the WS.

Seriously, facing a team like the Card's who would send out Kershaw against that line up twice within what 3 or 4 days? It should have been Ryu, or he should have yanked Clayton EARLY during that one inning curse.

I've gone from liking Mattingly to shaking my head.

With that being said, I do think the Cub's are for real, they've made a jump to being a very good team but I'm not tossing them in the WS just yet. I don't think the world is ready for the Cub's to win the series.

How shitty would it be to see KC beat the Cub's in the WS?

Oh I'm not picking the Cubs to win it all yet. I just think they're going to surprise a lot people. They still have such an aura of doubt surrounding them that think of the tone of some Johnk posts, and multiply that by every pre-2015 fan they've ever had. The mania should be full force come 2016.

Mattingly has been out-manged because he has no idea what he's doing. He played for a team completely led by Steinbrenner before the wealth and free-agency as it is now ( IRONY. Georgie Peorgie thought the post strike free agency would destroy baseball  ) and pre-Gene Micheal. So he has no idea about the playoff atmosphere and is old school in his evaluations. Think: Dusty Baker level stupid but with even less success.

Having Andrew Friedman at the helm now is pretty much a death sentence for Donnie. Although both Philly ( Amaro Jr. is retarded ) and Arizona ( Dave Stewart doesn't believe in it. Yes, Mr. Stewart sabermetrics are used by the Lochness Monster ) don't use it so Mattingly could still find employment elsewhere.

Fuck KC. I know we're in agreement on the ferocity of St. Louis but Toronto is just as if not meaner. Plus David Price. It could be a bird World Series. If it goes there I gotta pull for the Jays.

I like Toronto as well but had a worst case scenario vision pop in my head of seeing KC vs Cub's in the WS and KC winning. That would be like watching the sewer main break at the Royals Kauffman Stadium while ten thousand Cub fans drown themselves in the river.

LAD 1 Reds 0
Zack Greinke - (14W 3L) shut out the Reds lowering his league leading ERA to 1.61 as LAD swept Cincy.

Of course that means the Giants would win.

Cubs 1 Giants 9
Bumgarner fan's 12 in 6IP? kkkkkkk.....Sit down, sit down, hey you, you sit down too. Giants take the series.

Maybe reuniting with Maddon could spark a revival. It can't hurt and the Cubs bullpen has seemed, I don't know...penetrable? He'll either shoot his arrow to the stars or Cubs fans' hearts. Like Utah said the nightmare scenario KC/CHI WS, it would be Rodney to lose it.

He was traded for cash considerations. I'll bet the Mariners get some pretty cool Wrigley Field souvenirs, it's a historic stadium after all. Maybe like some shot glasses or something, a keychain, and a hat.

Barry Balco loses collusion case against mlb. I don't and never thought he had one to begin with. Age 44, clubhouse cancer ( read: asshole ), upcoming court case, media circus, erroneous hallowed records. I don't care how well he hit at age 43, that guy will destroy your team.

Florida confident Fernandez to return mid September. Fuck. That. Franchise. There is no way, even with Stanton's return they are sniffing the post season. Protect that arm. He could be one of the greats. Let him rest it.

I agree but if he's ready I wouldn't have an issue with a low pitch count and long rest in between. Sitting out too long can create issues as well. If he can get in a few times at the end he might be primed for next season.

Hard to say, you're probably right. I think if he has a green light and is clawing to take the mound I'd let him.

That should have happened when he traded Pineda. Actually he should have been fucking shot when he traded Pineda. Zduriencik made this big stink about how he was going to be a GM relied on sabermetrics ( ie. Epstein, Friedman, etc. ), hired John Dewan, etc. It all came out it was a publicity move to get the job later. Until Seattle's owners ( Nintendo ) give a shit about the team they'll remain fucked. I was one of the one's that drank the Jack Z. Kool-Aid though :?

Craig Kimbrel claimed off waivers by unknown team.

He's always been streaky(?). I have no idea though. Last year he led the AL with 38 saves. Maybe it was a coaching issue.

Vin Scully to return to the Dodgers booth in 2016 for his 67th season....God love ya Scully, still haven't missed a beat. 67 years just blows me away. Listened to him tonight and he hasn't changed since I stared hearing his voice in the late 70's. Talk about baseball love, one thing I've always respected is he's so unbiased during games and tells good story's about every team LAD plays. He had a lot of good stuff to say about the Cub's tonight and the story's during tonight's game is stuff you would find in a good book. I can't think of another guy I'd rather meet or sit next too during a long flight.

---------------

LAD 4 Cubs 1 F
Kershaw (W) - 8IP 3H 1ER 1BB 14SO 2.24ERA
Hammel (L) - 5IP 4H 3ER 3BB 5SO 3.42ERA

Rizzo = HR, Longest hit ball off Kershaw this year at 440'. Rizzo has 15 RBIs in his last 16 games. That was the first run off Kershaw at home after 31 scoreless innings, which was the longest streak in the Majors.

Kershaw's last loss came on June 27, in 10 starts since, he has a 0.92 ERA and a 6-0 record.

The last two days the Cub's have been shut down, Bumgarner struck out 12 followed buy Kershaws 14.
Good news for Cub fans - Lester vs Latos tomorrow should get the Cub's back on track. Latos is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in three starts for Los Angeles this season. Latos has lasted less than five innings in his last two starts. Lester's last outing vs LAD was a loss, 4IP 4H 4R 4BB.
---------------------

Giants 5 Cards 4 F
Marlon Byrd Grand Slam in the 3rd. Tomlinson walk off single with the bases loaded in the 9th. Seemed like the longest 9th inning in history, I'd surf around and refresh and it would still be the 9th then as my bad mojo would have it I switched over the TV just in time to watch Tomlin's walk off hit.

I watched the Giants game. It was a good one. SF had the bases loaded for the grandslam as a result of 2 walks and a hit batter. St. Louis was set up to tie the score when Adrianza bobbled a double play ball.

As for Vin the only part the movie 42 got wrong was concerning Vin Scully's mentor Red Barber. I learned from the excellent book 'Opening Day - The Story Of Jackie Robinson's First Season' by Jonathan Eig that Barber refused to meet the team. He thought that if he met and liked any of them it would jeopardize his ability to call the games objectionably.

Red passed that info onto Scully. Also Barber had a deep southern drawl which was well liked by the Brooklynites.

Mets set to acquire ( pending physical ) Addison Reed from Arizona to bolster back end of bullpen for 2 minor leaguers.

Lance Lynn rolls his ankle in the 8th inning against SF.

King Felix getting an extra time of rest and has start skipped Monday. I'm interested to see how the GM hunt is coming in Seattle. Apparently it's a pretty desirable position with what the team currently has in place. The cynicism in the NW is pretty strong though. Howard Lincoln ( Pres. ) needs to go and they will continue to put a bottom dweller team on the field until ownership cares about winning.

Watching the LA/CHC game I'm reminded of how often Lester is ran on. He's like another Wakefield or Dickey. NL ball is more prone to always keep the runners moving ( think Torre's 90s run with the MFY or Scosscia's '02 Angels ). No matter how bad ass Jon boy is that's going to be a serious problem. I wanna say JohnK and Leppardmania were talking about it the beginning of the season, but I didn't pay much attention.

And LAD cant run on anyone, I think they're last in MLB but got 3SB off Lester. Now with all the injuries and call ups they've got a bit faster.
Dodgers just blew up the 7th with 4ER knocking Lester out. The Stolen bases helped.

Then I changed the channel because Jim Johnson was coming in.

I change back a few minutes later and the bases are loaded with one out...WTG Jim Johnson. I held my piss long enough to watch him get a double play and sneak out of the inning.

*Update

Dodgers 5 Cubs 2 F
Cub's on a 4 game losing streak, Dodgers on a 5 win streak.

Cubs have struck out 37 times in the last 3 games.

Without actually basing this statement heaped with irrefutable facts and just going by observation ( not unlike Jack Z. :D ). I wonder if LAD's lack of steals or baserunning has anything to do with Mattingly playing in the AL for so long. Donnie Baseball was one of the greatest 1B of his era but he also wasn't a Usain Bolt on the basepaths ( I should look into it ).

Beltre belted his 408HR today, I never get tired of his swing.

A solo, a two run shot and a grand slam. He was a three run HR away from the HR cycle. 9RBI's....
I've been thinking Toronto had the team but was more streaky. Now I'm leaning towards deadly.

-------
KC is the first team to reach 80 Wins, haven't heard a lot of news from them lately. Maybe everyone's just blocking them out. Even the MLB channel highlights was fast and focused more on all the other games.

-----------------

ATLANTA -- A man in his early 60's died after falling from the upper deck at Turner Field on Saturday night died. 7th inning vs the Yankees.

The fall occurred in the top of the seventh inning, as the Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez was walking to the plate amid a chorus of boos.

Arod continues to hurt the game and fans.

KC is still tough but Toronto is on another level right now.

Fuck Asteriskrod but it will come out this dude was drunk. I'm sure the lawsuits will come and they'll try to implement the games being played in an aquariam like Seaworld. In fact it could get so bad that players won't be allowed to shake kids hands or pose for selfies during batting practice anymore. What if said player ( for sake of argument let's say Arod ) came into contact with germs, exposed the kid and now he has a cold.

This is getting so out of hand. I can't believe ( well actually I can ) some bitch sued John Henry for getting hit with a foul ball....at a baseball game.

Kill
Not the first fan to fall and die at Turner Field. Maybe the Braves need to look internally and ask themselves why several fans have fallen and died
as a result? The man could have very well been drunk. Which leads to how many beers was he served and why wasn't there someone with the authority to stop serving him beers, etc...

I get what your saying....to a point. There's a personal responsibility that seems to have been forgotten. That dumb hoe whom got hit by a foul ball at Fenway? Get out the way, bitch. Remember that guy that fell and died in Texas reaching for a ball from Hamilton? Is Josh responsible for attempting to throw it to a fan? The guy did something stupid and now he's dead.

I'm not sure of the liquor laws in Georgia, but there is no more serving alcohol after the 7th. It's not a vendor's responsibility to make sure all the patrons are being responsible with their booze. There is like what, 30k or so there? Fuck that. If he was drunk, did something stupid and died as a result then he's responsible for it.

Not the Braves, mlb, the Puerto Rican hotdog vendor, Arod ( well maybe Rodriguez  ), or the rival teams fans. He is. It sucks but don't do stupid shit and you'll be fine.

Disclaimer: If the fan was sober I'm totally fine with going for the throat of the three-headed monster of Barry Bonds, Tom Brady, and the fattest of the Kardashian sisters to pay for this.

I'm with the, take responsibility for your own actions unless there's some major defect or a railing broke. A story like this should be in the fine print and moved on. It's happened before and wont be the last. In 2013 a dude in Atlanta just jumped on his own if I recall. Oh well.
Don't go to ball games, get drunk or being sober and see how far over the railing you can fucking reach.
