CHICAGO (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals have become the first team to clinch a postseason berth this year despite losing 5-4 to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

The Cardinals fell at Wrigley Field, but manager Mike Matheny's team later sealed a playoff spot when San Francisco lost to Arizona 6-0. The Giants' defeat ensured St. Louis at least an NL wild-card slot.

St. Louis has the best record in the majors at 92-56 and will play in the postseason for the fifth straight year. The Cardinals have made it at least to the NL Championship Series the last four seasons.

The Cardinals lead the NL Central by 4 1/2 games over Pittsburgh, which played later at Dodger Stadium. St. Louis is 6-10 over its past 16 games, including series losses to the Pirates, Cubs, Reds and again to the Cubs this weekend.

Best in baseball. I like it.

Adam Wainwright cleared for baseball related activities. Could be pitching out of bullpen by season's end.

Yadier Molina has slight tear in thumb. To be evaluated next week for season.

Tigers closer Bruce Rondon shut down for lack of effort. :? Huh? Wouldn't it just be easier to say "he sucks so we don't want him pitching for us anymore?"

Marlins owner still hates every fan Miami has ever or will have as they are currently in discussions with Dusty Baker for empty skipper position.

Sad day for Yankee fans and baseball fans. Yankees announced the team will wear a #8 on their left sleeve jersey for tonight's game.

10 WS titles. Was on the team when they won 5 consecutive titles from
49-53. IMO, he has to be a top 5 Yankee of all time.
Along with Ruth, DiMaggio, Gehrig and Mickey Mantle

Easily top 5 and that's even counting pitchers.

Here he is in the '55 WS a part of one of the most iconic ( and controversial [ tie goes to the runner ] ) plays ever.

Boston signs Mike Hazen as senior VP/GM. Not a bad move, as Hazen was pretty much responsible for their scouting dept. I'm curious how it's going to play out though. Boston's Henry, Luchhino, Werner's ownership success was the farm Theo and Hoyer built. New President Dombrowski success in Detroit was through trades. That's like combining oil and water, or Zduriencik and player stats.

Royals RHP Greg Holland out for rest of season ( elbow concern ).

LAD not confident Puig returns this season.

SD announcer says 2016 will be final season in booth...speaking of which Vin Scully's Dodger career sets Guiness World Record.

Pirates claim first NL Wild Card.

*ETA

Hanley Ramirez out for season ( shoulder ).

Fat Panda out with pneumonia. ( who didn't see this signing working out exactly they way it has? )

Ben Cherington turned down an interview for vacant Mariners GM.

Not sure how bad I feel for Matt Williams right now. Did he even
earn the manager position in MLB?
Today he made another poor decision.
Runner on 2nd, zero out and he asks Rondon to bunt the runner over. Now we all know Rondon is not a good bunter, so why set up the player for failure? I can see asking a pitcher to bunt, but not a hitter. Furthermore, stats clearly prove that there is no success in bunting with zero out and a runner on 2nd base.
LOL

Rondon had a poor bunt and the runner on 2nd was thrown out at 3rd

SAFEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Nice position Ump. Don't care what any modern day breakdown replay says. It was blown call, the Bum's were famous for never getting calls while NYYYY have always got their cocks sucked.
Speaking of getting cocks sucked......

So I pull up MLB.com to catch up on the scores, the Dodgers won, the Giants were in another great game and lost in the 9th again, a bit of Yogi stuff and.....The best FRONT PAGE material.....

View photos? I'm on MLB.com so unless there's chicks with bat's in their twats I don't wanna see those stupid adds. MLB don't make enough money to keep a website going without adding hard up singles ad's on the front news page?
It's bullshit what they charge to watch online games not to mention free games where you watch an inning or two before it shuts off and asks for money.

----------------

Clayton goes rage monster on Mattingly in the dugout today.

I think that 132 pitch game affected both Don and Clayton. Mattingly has been prone to yanking Kershaw out since that game so today Mattingly pulls Clayton in the 5th and things blew up....Sure save his arm but if he's in a game battling, let him battle out of it, fuck I don't get Don's moves sometimes.

"Kershaw, Mattingly exchange words during game"......There's more then words going on, in both videos Clayton was irate, apart from a bad pitch or inning I don't think I've ever seen him angry.
http://m.dodgers.mlb.com/news/article/1 ... ange-words

--------------

I didn't comment but that Madison Bumgarner vs Paul Goldschmidt GIF's is awesome. Fuck the Giants but mad respect for Bum, unless they played for Boston I dig pitchers with attitudes like that on the mound. I look at
the gif each time I scroll past. like that Cespedes put out gif......They slay me.

-----------------------------------

Comeback player of the year.........

I'd like to see Prince, Davis Harvey get the comeback player award but if some Yanking bitch like Aroid or Teixeira I'll puke. Even Ryan Madson and Morales from KC would give me the farts.

One thing I am battling inside is a DH up for comeback player of the year. I don't know how many games at 1B Prince has played

On mlbnetwork Pedro Martinez gave a pitching demo to Harold Reynolds on Bartolo Colon's 90% fastball performance. I like seeing the perspective of how the pitches work. Especially when described by a pitcher of Pedro's caliber.

How does Joe West remain an active umpire in MLB? Does he get evaluated at all? If yes, are his scores high enough for him to keep his job?
The guy is terrible. Among the worst umpires in the league but yet he
continues to work.
Embarrassing what he did but I also fault Bumgarner as well. He was a willing participant in the incident.

Joe West has transformed from Don Zimmer into Pizza-the-Hut.
Fuck West, he has a chip on his shoulder and needed to get his big ass back behind the plate on that one.
I'd like to hear what buster was saying......Hey West, if you want another hot dog stair at the vendor or let's get back to the game.

Bumgarner taking part? I wouldn't let an UMP stare me down either. If West felt half the adrenaline Bumgarner feels while throwing pitches he'd have a heart attack. You just can't easily control your emotions while pumped up.

UMP's can have a chip on their shoulder but a pitcher or batter can't? Who do the fans come to see and who's the one with all the pressure running in their veins. Fuck west, I've had a bad year with UMP's and replay.

He's the fucking reason we have replay now.

Mets win NL East. I've made this joke before, but I thought Washington already won the East....and the World Series again. After a few hairflips Bryce Harper "hopes Mets win the WS."

Nolan Arenado hits 40th HR ( grandslam ) joining Mike Trout and Bryce Harper as the only current players to do it at age 24 or younger. The only other time it happened was 1955 ( Mays, Banks, Mathews ).

Jarrett Parker makes SF history with 3 HR game vs. A's.

Anonymous text from Nats player says "Williams has got the clubhouse as a terrible environment, and all agree." No mention of hairflips though.

LAAAAA ( and former CWS UT Longhorns 2003 Champion ) closer Huston Street out for season remainder with groin tear. Ouch.

Bryce Harper and Jonathan Pappelbon brawl in dugout. Harper related it to being like "two brothers fighting." Who do you root for in that situation? Next to players wearing pinstripes or blue, they are the most dislikable SOBs in baseball. Maybe Pappelbon messed up Bryce's hair. God, he's such a bitch ( a talented bitch that could no doubt kick my ass, but a bitch regardless ).

Shit happens in the dugout, especially when your team blows the season, I don't see it as a big deal, that's between them and the coach. Players are like brothers or at least a lot are........With that said.

Harper popped a ball up and lollygagged to 1st, Papelbon slammed his ass for not running it out. Papelbon > Harper

Papp won the shoving match that's for sure. Fucked Harper up. Harper is a pussy.

Schilling and Manny got into a shouting match over the same thing. So did Barry Balco and Kent, although I think those two were just both roided out of their minds and anything would have set them off ( ie. Clemens/Piazza 2000 WS ).

I dislike them both but would have enjoyed watching Bryce get his ass beat. Mess up his hair. Make him cry.

That they do. A Toronto vs. anyone WS would be pretty cool. I'm not picking them to win or even get there, but the Cubbies have the potential to surprise a lot of people.

Right? I get a kick out of the "I wouldn't hit that" type shit. Unless you were in a commited relationship, the fuck you wouldn't. Don't pint over her, no one is saying she's your dream woman. If that girl or the other one said "hey, let's fuck." You would go *shrug "I might as well." If you say you wouldn't, your lying.
