Donnie Baseball is a horrible manager. I find it funny Florida likes him. This is the same franchise that basically laughed at ( possibly worst mgr. of all time ) Dusty Baker's face when he expressed interest. Now they want Mattingly? Maybe it's because my generation are all grown up now so it's sentimental.

I've always hated the Yankees, but was a Mattingly fan when I was kid. I think we all were. Next to ( my childhood hero ) Will Clark, he was my favorite 1B. I get that, but let the guy golf, watch playoff baseball and be retired. He just isn't cut out for this whole manager thing.

If LAD gets someone good at the helm they'll be scary though.

Fuck LA.

All part of the Dodger plan........Sabotage! I'd hate to see Mattingly go to the Fish, I like the fish then again fuck um, Jeffrey Loria and Don Mattingly deserve each other.

I was a fan of Don in his playing days as well, he looked just like my friends brother who did me a lot of favors growing up, I'd call him Don...Inside joke...Donnie hook up.
And except that the Giants suck I dug Will Clark, I always thought he'd be great in a fight, him and Matt Williams were a couple of bulldogs.
Unfortunately Matt like Don need to be batting coaches or on 1st base.

I have baseball cards of Will Clark and at least one of Don. As much as I liked Don, Mattingly hurt LAD's chances and it pisses me off. I'll like him from his playing days but he couldn't Manage a Taco Stand. He should be managing the Braves, Reds or Philly. The Royals would be nice.

Odd thing about Mattingly, from time to time I thought he would make some good moves in the regular season but come the post season I have a scar on my head from scratching it. He totally blew this post season. And sometimes it would be just little stupid moves that would blow up. Like he was tossing darts in the dugout.
Since 2010 the Dodgers have 8 postseason wins.
In that same time span Bumgarner has 7 postseason wins and 1 save.

John Ferrell's cancer is in remission.

Murphy is the only player to HR in every NLCS game.

Scott Servais with Tim bogar as bench coach ( or vice versa ) a strong candidate for Seattle mgr. I thought the rumor was Ron Washington which would be cool, I was always a fan of Wash.

Gabe Kapler is the rumored front runner for LAD mgr. He currently heads up player development for Friedman.

Scoscia to return as LAAAA mgr.

Ripken wants Washington mgr. job, Nats uninterested.

If only Piazza had the balls to charge the mound and step up to Clemens. Piazza was intimidated by Yankee Stadium and the legend of Clemens.

"The legend of Clemens?" Oh, you mean PEDs.

PED's or not, the man is a legend. Just like Bonds is a legend and Sosa and McGwire, etc...

I give Roger credit for apologizing after Piazza weakly ground out to second base. The cameras caught him saying sorry but of course nobody will talk about it.

Same goes for the very, very disturbing comments by McCarver. If you pay attention or rewind the tape, he goes on record to say that he defends the time when Clemens drilled Piazza in the head earlier that season.
WTF!
How did Fox allow this foolish announcer to remain in the booth all those years with comments like that?

Fuck that. Piazza and you both have something in common,
you two are soft.

Earlier that season Clemens drilled Piazza in the head with a pitch.

What did you expect him to do? It's a WS game. Get thrown out? Suspended?

It's no secret Piazza was scared of Clemens. Clemens isn't known for his calm temperament and he's not exactly small either.

Seattle confirms Scott Servais as new manager.

Act like a team leader would have been a good start. Instead he had that coward look on his face. No wonder the Mets did not stand a chance
vs Yankees in 2000

A good leader knows he can help the team more while playing than sitting at home while suspended.

C'mon Gritt, nobody is saying that Piazza should have swung at Clemens or tackled him. Piazza already was plunked in the helmet earlier that season by Clemens. Now this incident and Piazza is frightened.

Make the viewers and your team believe that you are upset, will beat his ass if given the chance. Not lower your head, say nothing and take another

FU Toronto
FU Bautista

Good job hitting the cut off man when it counted most, Bautista. Very basic play that an average RF can do, but Bautista failed his team when he needed them the most. Now you have all season to work on that bat flip

I'm ticked Toronto didn't make it, I was pulling for them.

MOST Royals fans I encounter act like they shoulda been fans of the Yankees during their 1949-1958 stretch. For almost 30 years, nobody supported that team then in 2013 they became a decent team and all of a sudden Kaufman Stadium actually starts getting asses in the seats. With their trip to the WS last year and now this year, their attitudes have only gotten worse!

At least Cardinals fans can back up their team based on their performance over the past 10+ years whereas KC have been good for the last three!
What you said is true for most teams that struggle. Pittsburgh played to empty stadiums for years before the Pirates got good.

I think it just seems that the fans are more obnoxious because we are right in the middle of them with no escape.

Just so we're clear on this 300 million dollar team shit you toss around. You know, breaking the bank like the Yankees and the Boston Red Sux have been doing for years now to buy rings. Well, the Red Sox at least.
The Dodgers $300m was an overhaul exploded to get rid of players and payroll too fix the damage. To clean house it cost the house.

LAD paid $87.5 million for players no longer on the team then ate $26 million in trades to build farm including forced to pick up budget players after being plagued with injuries at every position.

$115.5 million went to players not even on the team or little factors BAND-AIDS to the team that won the Division and got to game 5 in the NLDS vs The Mets, an error and manager call away from going to the NLCS. NOT BEING SWEPT OUT.

$115.5M to build farm and eat contracts too dump players like Hanley and Kemp to teams that spent bank only to fail. Money well spent.

How did Boston and San Diego finish? How did any of the top payroll teams like the Giant's or Yankees do? There's a lot of mixed numbers but they all translate fairly well considering LAD patched half their team due to injuries and still won the West and a deep NLDS series.
The Red Sox and Giants....Well, they flushed the team and money. LAD paid out 300 Million to empty contracts, they didn't go all in and sign Price or Aroid, they went with farm and budget players. Buying out the contracts cost them a gold this season but...In perspective.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers $314,168,414 - $115,000,000 = $199,168,414
2. New York Yankees $219,256,867
3. San Francisco Giants $186,963,630
4. Boston Red Sox $183,289,749
5. Washington Nationals $165,480,095

Numbers played out well. Just to get rid of Kemp and the diseased dugout in one season and still be competitive with all the injuries, I'm fine with that. What I wouldn't be happy with is not making the post season and not having a chance.
Like the Giants and Red Sox!

------------------------------------------------

My bigger question is. The CUBS have a long history of putting together a good team from time to time. If they don't win in the next couple seasons, how are they going to handle the Bryant's and Lesters contracts. We all know the CUBS, Maddox would end up in Atlanta "oops"
I mean Lester will end up in NYY and Bryant with the Giants. Will Chicago go back to obscurity if they don't pull it off in the next couple seasons?
These next couple years will be interesting for the CUBS IMO.

I didn't want the CUBS to win the World Series this year, we know what Happened to Red Sox fans after they FINALLY won. They turned into the northern version of Yankee fans.

Every Cardinal fan were pretty cool fans with knowledge of the game BUT when it came to the CUBS they were pure jerks full of hate. I didn't know if they wanted to with the WS or make fun of the CUBS more.

When the Cub's won I heard an announcer say, this is like finally beating up the bully that's been picking on you for 100 years.

*Edit*

Had to add I know a lot of long time cardinal fans and admit they are a bit arrogant but they're ok, seem to know the game and stick with the team. Nothing on the level of Yankees fans not to mention the bandwagon Yankee nation that follows. BSox fans are almost as bad, have a decade where they break the cure, win a few WS and they act like Yankee Jr's.

Giant fan's are more....
belligerent, bellicose, pugnacious, quarrelsome, contentious mean having an aggressive or we're the best, fighting attitude. Often looking to engage in verbal war or hostilities <belligerent Giant nations>. bellicose suggests a disposition to fight <a drunk in a bellicose mood>.

SF had a chance though. They had more injuries than LA and didn't fall out of contention until the end of the season. That's pretty cool and something I wouldn't call that a failure. Good thing 300 mil didn't cripple the Dodgers, then they might not have won a pennant. Wait.

Was Price tipping his pitches? That's the rumor now. He just straight up says "I didn't pitch well enough to win." Which leads to my next Q. Will the poor postseason showing effect the 30+ year old FA pitchers' market value?

I've got NYM winning the whole thing, but the week off could fuck with them. Their rotation is set and it's scary. Harvey, DeGrom, Syndergaard, Matz. KC is pretty deep, but ask Chicago abot NY's pitching.

Ruben Amaro Jr. ( yes, that one ) named BoSox 1B coach.

Matt Klentak named Philly GM.

*ETA

Where Friedman is going to excel ( LA's plan ) is the international draft. There's been some success there, but that's the focus of LA's new FO.

What are you implying Forrest? It's hard to call me bandwagon when I'm from SF and used to live in Boston. So it was pretty easy to root for both. The Giants are my NL team ( always has been, I like the '9ers too ) and root for Seattle over Boston now. Not exactly bandwagon there either, sine the M's have sucked since '02 and Boston won it all in 2013.

I'm not familiar with the Bronx I've never been, but I have 2 friends there. Where abouts did you live?

I used to live in Houston and am familiar with Dallas. Where did you live there? I kinda know the area. Since your from there, I'm assuming you do too.

You probably began rooting for Seattle because they signed Cano, huh?
LOL!!!
Yes the M's have sucked for over a decade, but you were on their nuts when Cano signed. C'mon, be honest!!!
I'll take a wild guess that you will be wearing a Mets hat and probably purchased a Keith Hernandez jersey over the weekend.

Nope, the King. As I've said before seeing a 17 year old Felix mow down AAA was a fucking treat....Ackley was pretty good at that level too.

I did think that was cool as hell when Robbie signed there. I was up visiting some friends when it was announced ( a couple days after ). The only people bitching about it were wearing Yankee hats. Guess where they weren't from.

And your Goddamned right Keith Hernandez.

I forgot it said in the Baseball fan book that you can only like one team then I remembered that's only if you're a nut licking blind fanatical Yankee bandwagon fan.

I'm clearly a Dodger fan who likes other teams and players and hates other teams and players. I like the Tribe, Seattle, Rockies, A's, Fish, Pirates....The O's and White Sox's are alright.

A lot could depends on the players. Bryce, Papelbon and Max Wienerschnitzel made me want to see the Nat's fold.

I've had a Boston helmet hat since the 80's, the kids in the hood would get their favorite team then buy others. My ex bought me a Jason Varitek jersey and oddly enough....
Jason Varitek's name has come up as a Rumor to coach the Dodgers....I'm not counting on this one and praying it's not so.

Since Boston started winning WS the fans have been annoying so they've fell off the favorite list.

----------------------------------------------

I hope the METS win but I've been flip flopping, it should be LA. After the METS easily spanked the CUBS I get the feeling the Royals will stomp NYYY.

As long as the Yankees don't make the playoffs the world is a better place.

After that I'm happy if the Red Sox, Cubs, Butt Giants and Atlanta are out as well. I'm starting to get tired of the Card's but this has been a good year with new teams in the fight. The AL East can fall into the Ocean. I'm not a huge Royal hater like I was earlier. I've liked KC forever it's just their bullshit over the last year or so that's been a turn off.

It wouldn't be a bad thing if KC win, I don't think it would get totally out of hand.

I've been asking that for two pages. One thing in LAD's favor money wise is Greinke is a couple years older then the likes of Price or Cueto. During the biding wars I'm glad they didn't go after Price but I was very vocal about Lester and his contract.

I would have taken Lester over all other available FA last offseason.

Tek ain't going to LA. I haven't even heard the rumor. I know Seattle offered him the mgr. position, but he's incredibly reluctant to leave Boston. There he is special advisor to the GM ( I don't even know what that means, it's for veteran superstars me thinks ) and is revered as a God. I wouldn't leave either.

Price did not tip any pitches. The guy is not a big game pitcher. Add him to the list where Kershaw resides. Great numbers during 162 games, but when it really counts Price is a letdown.
Rays gave up on him
Tigers did
Now the Jays will soon enough

He was Krod-esque '02 for the Rays in the ALCS though.
