The Boston Red Cocks and the San Francisco Faggots will have to pay luxury tax as well even tho neither team made the playoffs last year.

For the first time, four teams exceeded baseball's spending threshold and owe tax. Only two of them made the postseason, The Dodgers and Yankees while the Giants and Red Sox's were on the outside looking in.

The potential Brandon Phillips trade was pulled. Umm I don't know. I think Friedman is a genius. Give him time LA. I hate you, but he's Epstein-level good.

Now you're going all Machado on me! Piss off you choked and didn't make the playoffs......And the Dodgers have won the division three years in a row!

SO NA!

At least they didn't get swept out of the postseason. They was a couple innings away from winning, moving on and sweeping the Cubs.

--------------------------------

I'm not buying into Friedman, he's on my shit list right now. Funny how all three moves.....The only moves made failed. One on a Physical, one on a criminal charge and one being snaked by another team. I think he planned them. He's genius alright. Our AAA team should do well!

Since they just broke the record on luxury tax, I think Friedman is doing fine. He's done for LAD what Theo and Hoyer have done for the Cubs. If Roberts can get that clubhouse under control ( meaning get rid of Puig and Agonz ) they're going to be terrifying.

I know Magic wants to win now, but look at the shitshow NY is. That rarely works and then you're stuck with forcing retirement tours.

Just tossing it out there.............

I'm a little more pissed then you are. I like all sports and currently all my teams either suck or have fell a just a tiny cunt hair short of winning it all in the last couple years.

Breaking the luxury tax record isn't a big deal with today's record breaking players contracts and team revenue. Not to mention what, that seven billion dollar TV contract Time Warner is expected to lose one billion over!
It's also better then losing. Not that I'm happy about how much they stupidly spent it's about how they didn't spend wisely. I'm pissed they blew it.

But if it took them 300m to grow a dead farm to a top one and eat stupid contracts from the past so they could start over then so be it.

You have to give him credit for what he's done, especially with what he had inherited. Aside from the Greinke attempt he also hasn't went nuts in FA.

Boston Red Sox to retire Wade Boggs number at Fenway. The guy's a douchebag of the highest degree but this should have happened in 2005 when he was elected to the HOF. Or at least after he drank 70 beers on a cross country flight.

Right now at http://www.store-mlb.com all the player jerseys are $43.99. They're usually $149-249.99. I'm eyeing a few.

Negative, Ghostrider. It's mlb. The jerseys are coolbase, so it's the ones the players wear.

I think you're right. At the official site (shop.mlb.com) the Coolbase jerseys are on sale at a good price, but the sale price is $89.99.

Still, thanks for the link, Kill -- $43.99 on the other site is great, I may have to order one!

Kill, you're eyeing that Johnny Cueto jersey huh? Panda Sox in a triple X? Hanley Ramirez?

Thanks for the link I think I'll get a Greinke....Wait.....A Dee Gordon....Wait......I could get a Yasiel Puig! Shit even that douche might be gone.

The Dodgers has completely changed it's face in two years. I have one choice and will be one of the 99.9% with a Clayton jersey. There's always a Jimmy Rollins 1 more year. I'd get a Kenley Jansen but I bet he'll be gone at the end of the season with his contract up.

I have a favorite team and can't buy a jersey. Corey Seager if they have one might be the only choice and who knows where he'll be opening day.

I think I'll get a Bryce Harper.

It's definitely not an official MLB site but I don't mind the knock off price. If anyone orders please let me know, I think I'll jump on one.

It says they're Cool Base ( yeah, I know ). I'll probably get a couple.

I was eyeing the Clark. With free agency my current faves are locked up for about 6 more years so I look at my old school faves first. The only player I have is Griffey Jr., but that's just a tshirt. I outgrew my OG Clark and got rid of Clemens when the PED shit came out.

I'm thinking Clark, Mays, and maybe Crawford ( I was always a SS, so I tend to root for them first ) or Madbum.

They're fun to lounge around in and for what? 40 something? Seems worth it.

Go old school LAD. Fernando, Robinson, Koufax, Herschiser, and of course Kershaw....he ain't leaving.

P. S. Harper will be a Yankee in 2018. It's his fave team ( the guy reeks douchbag. So the mothership is calling him home ). Plus it's been speculated that NYY has been quiet as of late because they're getting ready for hairflip and Machado.

Harper would be perfect for the Yankees......Especially if he tests positive for herpes. Harper could do an Aroid hair flip in the mirror pic. NY's all about that marketing queer players shit.
Every time I see Harper I picture his hair smelling like sardine olive oil.

Will Murphy live up to this contract? I think not. The Nats will want to trade this guy sometime in 2017. The kid has a nice hot streak during the playoffs and suddenly he is worth $37.5M

WOW
Chapman, Miller and Betances. That is a strong bullpen. Now the team can shorten the game to 6 innings and lean on those power arms to get 9 outs.
I was very afraid of what the team had given up in return. Turns out they are 4 minor league players. Could be a steal, unless Manfred hands down a very lengthy suspension for the domestic violence allegations.

Earlier today MLB announced they are in no hurry to decide on Chapman's case. Apparently the offseason is all the excuse MLB offices needs to take their sweet time in the matter.

Kill-Imagine Chapman vs Big Sloppy with the game on the line. Whether Sloppy is juicing or not, the advantage could be to Chapman,
TBH, I expect a very, very poor 2016 for Ortiz.

MLB Network devoted 1 hour to the 2016 BWAA hall of fame election.
Griffey Jr
Jim Edmonds
Trevor Hoffman
Billy Wagner
Troy Glaus
Mike Lowell

Griffey Jr is the only worthy player from this list of notable 1st time eligible players. What percentage of the vote will Griffey Jr. get? IMO, he is worthy of 100% but he might not get that.
As for the other 1st time eligible players, I'm sorry but none of them to me are HOF worthy. Hoffman has great numbers but what did he do in the post-season? ZIP ZERO NADA

LAD signs Scott Kazmir to a 3 year deal.

*ETA

Kazmir's deal is 3/48 with an opt out after year 1. I think Kazmir is pretty underrated personally and without the pressure of being a #1 or #2, he's pretty good. That does give LAD an all left handed rotation though. That can't be good right? So much for playing matchups.

John Jaso signs a 2 year deal with Pittsburgh to play 1B. It seems like Moneyball all over again. I'm a Jaso fan, but he was never consistently healthy as a catcher. ( Jaso caught King Felix's perfect game in '12 ).

LAD's deal with Maeda worth 8/25m with a lot of incentives. He's scouted as a #4, but with the price, big league coaching, and maybe adding more muscle to his frame ( he's pretty small by mlb standards ) it could work out...although Darvish/Tanaka he's not.....unless his arm falls off.
