It just keeps getting better. .500 or bust! You can't wait for the season, I'll probably stop posting when it starts. Time to hope other teams I like do good.
With this rotation it's going to get ugly.....
1. C. Kershaw
2. S. Kazmir
3. B. Anderson*
4. K. Maeda
5. H. Ryu*
6. A. Wood
7. M. Bolsinger*
Anderson, Ryu and Bolsinger wont even open the season let alone Anderson and Ryu months into it.
Andre Eithier 10-14 weeks Right tibia fracture
(P)Brett Anderson 3-5 months back surgery
(P) Bolsinger won't open season in rotation, oblique strain
(P) Hyun-Jin Ryu still recovering from surgery, Possibly back in May after missing all last year
(P) Frankie Montas rib resection surgery Placed on 60-Day DL 2/21
Yasmani Grandal recovering from shoulder surgery came out in the 2nd on Monday sill recovering
Corey Seager knee sprain.....Possible for the opener.....
J. Turner: Recovering from left knee surgery but came out swinging this week with 2 doubles and a HR.
Just noticed LAD has lost 7 in a row scoring 21R to 44R while another pitcher went down. Josh Ravin, broken arm out for 2 months. I know it's spring but 10-10......Could be worse.
Cubs 7-14
Giants 9-14

That said, how do you feel about AZ? They're going to come out of the gate strong. I don't know if they can keep it up all year, but they'll put up a sizable lead to start.
If you hate them, just remember what they did to the Yankees in 2001. It's kinda hard to after that.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Part of me thinks they'll come out of the gate strong but with the Giants on their heels then San Fran passing them up around the break. I don't think AZ will be a threat come September if not August.killeverything wrote:Don't put anything into ST.

Most of me thinks AZ will battle the first month or so with the Giants pulling away and having a fair lead by the break leaving AZ and maybe LA fighting it out for 2nd. I like Goldsmig and the team but don't think Zack's going to magically push AZ over the top anything like 01 or like people thought SD was going to last year. They'll be better but I see San Fran owning the division after the first couple months with AZ in 2nd missing the playoffs.
Only the injury bug will hold the Giants back. If AZ wins the division I'll be surprised.
My interest or hope is if the Dodgers bat's can do enough to keep them close enough to add pitching when the trades begin but I don't think the young players will preform above expectations. If there's a time for Pugy to mature or make a comeback this is the season or LAD could end up battling it out with the Rockies in the RockPile. No pitching, young unproven players and all the vets injured or coming off injuries is what LAD is going into the season with.
I picture Zack having 13 to 15w.

I was playing SS and fielded one deep in the hole. Guy on third broke for home, I double clutched and threw it over the backstop. I know you played....Ever throw your arm out or how many times did you loft one over 1st base from SS?
On a different note, I'm known as the guy who knocked out 3 front teeth from a kid standing at the dugout exit. he was their bat boy in the wrong place not behind the fence....
Playing deep 2nd I threw my arm out and the ball sailed way off course blasting a t-ball kid in the mouth. For years I was constantly teased for it.
It was like slow motion, I felt major pain, the ball sailed wide right and the kid screamed just as it tagged the poor child square in the mouth. Game was delayed, I'm hurting and feeling like shit as everyone is looking at me while a kid is crying and bleeding all over the place. Bone spurs suck.
Sometimes you just throw wide. It was pretty rare ( I'm not Captain Clutch ), but it has happened. The worst was when we were playing Aldine ( I think ) there's a guy on 2nd and 3rd and I field a grounder backhand. I'm thinking I'm Ozzie fucking Smith until I launch it over the 1B's head.
That was rad. We lost 2-0. Guess how those runs scored.
Baseball needs to hurry up and get here. I'm becoming Al Bundy on a message board.

I laughed at the signing. The AL Eaat is a whole different animal and for a player that comes off as maybe solipsistic? I knew that team, fanbase, and media was going to tear him apart. That signing is rumored to have cost Cherington his job. 1 year in and he's been on the trade block.Machado wrote:![]()

Andrew Miller takes line-drive off the wrist. Has a fracture. Just plans on playing through it. He's a LHP, it's a right wrist injury. He's says he got the idea to just play through it from....Jacoby Ellsbury.
Now I'm hearing he's out for 3 months?!?! Chapman out for 30 games, Miller?, and the Betances ( career setup man, 10 saves ) as the potential closer? That 3 headed bullpen monster will be dormant until the ASB.
Braves moving to Cobb county. This might just be posturing to get their lease extended. Turner field is 20 years old? You need a new stadium? Get the fuck outta here. I wonder if Oakland is taking note.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
You have the injured players mixed up. B. Mitchell will be out for 3 months with a broken toe. Did that while covering 1st base earlier this week.killeverything wrote:I laughed at the signing. A. Miller has the right wrist fracture and for now says he will not miss any time. Not his pitching hand so perhaps he can play through the pain???
If Miller and Betances are able to pitch the first 30 games the team will be ok. Then Chapman arrives around May 9 and that bullpen will be even stronger

It's the three headed no shows come Monday.
The coward woman beater 30 games.
Bitch Mitchell 3 months with toe jam
Andrew not Miller time is a question mark with a fracture, if and when he tries to pitch.....Have fun fielding!

Wait.
Pineda can't do it either. Still can't believe Zduriencik's retarded ass traded him. Speaking of which "Next Albert Pujols" MFY bust Jesus Montero was claimed off waivers by Toronto.
Other Jack Z. bust Justin Smoak also plays for Toronto.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
The Yank's might have to play ketchup with their three heads aren't better than one to start the season, but I'm still chuckling Pat launched one over the backstop.....
Team predictions for 2016 season: out of the 31 ESPN polled only one picked NY to win the division and only 7 out of the 62 picks chose NY for a wildcard spot.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/sea ... 016-season
LAD even got 4 picks to win the division and 5 for a WC. Most went with the Giants with a lot picking AZ as well for the division.
The more I think about it the more I don't see the Dbacks being all that tough. At best the Giants wont be as strong as I'm expecting and the West will be a weak division that might give AZ a chance.
If I was betting, I'd bet AZ don't make the playoffs, at least 5-7 back from the WC or the Division.

This was Liriano's second career 10-strikeout Opening Day start. Mariners ace Felix Hernandez (three times) is the only other active pitcher with multiple 10-strikeout performances on Opening Day.

Did anybody else order MLB Extra Innings this year? Direct TV has a great deal again this season. Even less than last year.
Only due to the lawsuit and settlement that was reached
6 payments x 18.99 a month. Approx $60 less than last season.

Rockies - 10
D-Backs - 5
Greinke - 4IP 9H 7ER 1BB 2SO 3HR 15.75ERA = FUCK YOU!
Rockies SS Trevor Story became the first player to homer twice in his Major League Debut on opening day.
--------------------------- Looks like most the posters teams won
Cubs - 9
Angels - 0
Arrieta - 7IP 2H 1BB 6SO - The bottom half of the order knocked in 7RBI's. CUBS WANT TO SUCK!
------------
Dodgers - 15
Padres - 0
Kershaw - 7IP 1H 1BB 9SO - Including a hit, run and RBI - The largest opening day shut out in history
Clayton's Opening Day line improved to 4-0 with a 0.93 ERA -- the second lowest in history for a pitcher with at least five season-opening starts, one percentage point behind Rick Mahler. Shame it's not his POST SEASON STATS......Now LAD opens up the rotations flood gates.
----------
Giants - 12
Brewers - 3
Bumgarner 5IP 3H 3R 5BB 6SO 2HR - "under the weather, sick" Also scored a Run and walked in an RBI.
Denard Span, Joe Panik and Buster Posey go back to back to back. Denard Span and Matt Duffy combined for 9RBI's

Whitesox - 4
Oakland - 3
Seattle - 2
Texas - 3
King Felix (L) 6IP 1H 3R 1ER 5BB 6SO - had a 2R lead no hitter in the 5th. Rangers have ONE HIT AND WIN THE GAME!

Favorite HR, Rockies Carlos Gonzalez's crushes one off Greinke into the swimming pool, exit velocity at 117.4 mph. I still can't believe AZ has that fucking swimming pool.
Kevin Pillar made a great catch into the wall. Tyler Holt and Billy Hamilton both high light catches, Tylers catch down the line was sweet.

Double post............I see HairFlip Harper went yard.
Any predictions on CY, MVP, ROY?
Unless the CUBS brought up another Rookie....
Seager should be in the running for ROY. I see Bryant and Joc started where they left off with two strike outs each. At least Joc was able to get a couple hits a run and a RBI. He has a sweet swing but I have doubts if he'll ever stop whiffing.
If the CUBS play well Arrieta should pick up his 2nd Kershaw/Greinke award.

MLB opening day must have been on the brain because last night I had a very brief baseball dream.
I was watching a game and Reggie Jackson was playing CF. Not sure who the 2 teams were but a ball was hit up the middle for a single,
Reggie charged the ball and threw a seed to home plate. One hopper to get the runner out. WTF! Sorry, I can explain why this happened
because Reggie never had an arm like Dave Parker

Making the WS and being swept or not securing a playoff spot in 2016?

They're far more use to being swept then being in the WS......I think getting swept is almost expected come the post season.Machado wrote:What would be worse for Cubs fans in 2016UtahRatt wrote:Plus the CUBS are historic for folding when it counts, not in the spring. They are the team to beat because everyone else is even weaker then last year while the CUBS got even better.Machado wrote:
really? but they are the new '27 Yankees. the team to beat. 'everybody', i mean 'everybody is picking the cubs. even the outspoken Hawk Harrelson has
said the cubs are his "pick to click" in 2016

2015 - The Cubs completed the 7-game season series sweep of Mets, their first such sweep of that many games since 1885. The win ensured the Cubs swept the season series from the Mets, winning all seven games against New York. According to the Cubs, the franchise hasn't swept a season series of at least that many games against an opponent since that faithful 1885 season.....Then in the playoffs.....METS SWEEP CUBS 4-0.
2015 - Cubs 97W Lost NLCS (4-0) vs Mets 90W = Swept
2008 - Cubs 97W Lost LDS (3-0) vs Dodgers 84W = Swept
2007 - Cubs 85W Lost LDS (3-0) vs Dbacks 90W = Swept
.
2003 - Cubs 88W Lost NLCS (4-3) vs Marlins 91W = Lost to the FISH
.
1998 - Cubs 90W Lost LDS (3-0) vs Braves 106W = Swept
*A bunch of pages back,I did say last spring they would lose in 2015 but win the WS in 2016. I'm thinking of retracting that comment.

Chase Utley does not understand how to legally slide in MLB. Here he is sliding into home plate vs SD. Judge for yourself.
Might be time for a pitcher to "buzz" Utley in order to wake him up
