Next year there will be no diving for fly balls! After a replay to prove he didn't trip it will be ruled a ground rule double and the player will be given a Yellow Card.

Gerinke 0W - 2L 9.90ERA - Saturday vs CUBS - Greinke (L) 6IP 7H 4ER 3BB 8SO

All the way up with a red hot poker. So far so good with AZ, fuck the Dbacks.

After a week, so far it seems like the same ole NL west. SF and LA.

LAD might be second class in the West and I still think it's the Giants to lose. I like Roberts in the dugout and with the players and think he'll be a coach but I wish he had more experience. I like him more then Mattingly but Mattingly was a decent manager in the regular season apart from riding his pitchers he knew how to win games until he would change his approach in September to panicking in the playoffs.
As for Roberts and his bull pen, yesterdays game is another prime......Again. LAD scores 5 in the first then he brings out Colman in the 5th which is good but follows him up with HOWELL in the 6th! LAD loses again after taking the lead. I think they've taken the lead in all but one of their loses. Maybe 2?

Again, I like the guy, it's good he's not riding the starters even tho he's yanked a few too early...But I hate, hate, hate his pen choices...Does the pitching coach have a say?

------------------------------Injuries still adding up

Crawford, Carl (LF) - back - Placed on 15-day DL....Possibly late April
Grandal, Yasmani (C) - Right arm STILL - Triple-A rehab - might try again at the home opener
Kendrick, Howie (2B) - Left Calf - yet to take the field might be on the list for home opener
Van Slyke, Scott (LF) - back stiffness - Limited to PH duty
Hatcher, Chris (P) - Knee - TBA - reported injury April 9th, still finished game, up in the air

13 players currently on the DL....Ryu was expected to face batters last week, still set of June return.

So maybe if LAD can stick around till June they might have a team.......

After last years sympathy voted 200 Strike Out joke of a ROY CUBS Kris Bryant, this year might have some real contenders..........

---------------------

Trevor Story belts 7th HR!

Rumor has it he made his bat out of a tree felled by lightning in his boyhood home in Texas. Others say he learned to play in a magical corn field in Iowa. Whatever the truth is, rookie Trevor Story has had a first week that is the stuff of legend, rewriting the record book as he's collected over a half-mile of homers in his first half-dozen games in the big leagues.

He holds the record for most home runs through his first six Major League contests, as well as the record for most homers through a team's first six games of the season. But from the confident 23-year-old's perspective, the best may be yet to come.

"I haven't faced a lot of these guys, so it might take a couple times to get familiar with these pitchers," Story said. "You can watch them on video, but I think it's a little different when you actually are in the box facing them. I feel good hitting pitches right now."

After shaking off a "bad" day Saturday, when he didn't homer and only collected one hit, extending what is now a six-game hitting streak to kick off his career He came back to earth on Saturday and hit another HR.

------------

Go Rockies! If he keeps hitting, placing him in the 2 hole the Rockies will have a butcher shop with Trevor batting ahead of Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado...That's a meat of an order.

---------------------------

Not to be over shadowed.

Houston's rookie, former 33rd-round Draft pick Tyler White who through 15 Major League at-bats, White is 10-for-15 with three home runs and nine RBIs. If he keeps it up he has a shot at the batting title as an evil .666 hitter.......Actually it's .667.....Rounded up from .6666666667 but who's counting.

Rockies rookie Trevor Story on pace to hit 243-HR! "come on sports writers" It could happen! :D

DENVER -- Rockies rookie shortstop Trevor Story became the fifth player in Major League history to homer in four straight games to start a season, and the first to begin a season with six in four games.
Story's two homers off D-backs ace Zack Greinke on Monday set a record for a player making his debut in a season opener. Story then became the first rookie to begin his career with two multihomer games in his first four.
But take him out of the rookie category and he is still in the record books. By going deep in a fourth straight game to start a season, he tied the mark set by Willie Mays in 1971, and matched by Mark McGwire in 1998, Nelson Cruz in 2011 and Chris Davis in '13.

"McGwire appreciated the swing that's allowing Story to put on a show." I bet he did and without roids!

----------------------------------

He's got to be having a blast, I hope he has a great year. Maybe the Rockies knew what they were doing when they traded Troy Trevor Tulowitzki because they had another Trevor in the wings.

Remember when Griffey hit in 8 straight games back in 1993?

That's what it just reminded me off. I was in Seattle when Griffey went on that run and normally Seattle didn't have the liveliest of fan's but it was a big thing. One of those cities where if they were winning they'd show up, if not they'd complain and bash them on the radio. Guess there was some reason to be angry, they had a team that should have won a couple WS.

Watched that game last night, and when Roberts pulled him I said to myself "what the f!?!" You let the guy play it out & if they get a hit, pull him.
That was the worst example of micro managing that I've ever seen. Good going Dave Roberts. And then he gets himself tossed. What a dick!
i was at the game. when Dave Roberts walked to the mound, he seemed to have a pep in his step and appeared like a man who just knew he was about to make a mistake and would cost his team the game.
leave the kid in. is MLB training these young kids that when you get into trouble, the team will get you out of the game. is that the era we are playing in? who cares if the kid got into a little bit of control
because of his control, for that game he was fooling the Giants and keeping them off balance. up 2 runs you leave the kid in and let him figure out how to escape a jam. worst case, if he gives up a hit
or a tying HR, then the kid still learned something out there.

Duffy, Matt or Kang, Jung Ho should have won over Bryant IMO. The 200 strikeouts should have been the deciding factor.

I mean we'll never see a 200 strikeout Rookie Of The Year again.

That's what I'm saying about micro managing. These days pitchers make up half the team (sarcasm mode on), and there's a pitcher for every type of situation. "Okay, we will bring in this lefty that pitches ground balls for 2 and a half batters, we will then pull him for pitcher that can get a pop out with men in scoring position for 4 pitches". Jesus!!!!
And who cares if the guy is a young pitcher. So what!! He was pitching a no hitter!!!!
And and another thing that drives me nuts about baseball is the pitch count!! Who came up with 100 pitches is the most a pitcher should throw or something wrong might happen?
Why not 84 or 123? 100?

you are preaching to the choir. the magic number, "100", pitch count is a joke. there are big time nerds who have stats ready
when the pitcher reaches 100 pitches. batting avg against, etc...
100 pitches does not always have to mean 100 stressful pitches. this kid was breezing. and like i said before, how is he going to learn
how to escape trouble when the conservative manager pulls him at the 1st sight of trouble.
baseball experts go on and on how a bullpen is taxed. how a bullpen pitches too many innings. then the same experts talk about
how a starter tonight should go 6 or 7 IP, then hand the ball off. WTF!!! why not go 9 and save the bullpen. after all, the SP
had at least 4 days to rest his arm. are you telling me he's not conditioned enough to go 9, even 8 IP and save the pen? RIDICULOUS!

Who said anything about Joc?

It's why Joc was forgot about, platooned, put in the 8 hole and PH in the post season, not up on a pedestal and worshiped like the next Willie Mays with 200 Strike outs and 17 errors.

But the magical CUBS made the playoffs, it was blasted how the east coast voters were all over the CUBS awards......And they got swept.

Bad enough I stopped watching the media down the stretch last season, every fucking Bryant hit was spectacular while skipping over every error and whiff.....Arrieta wasn't a blip on the radar for winning the CY or even mentioned until into September and still wasn't really expected. Then after he stole it everyone was on the bandwagon agreeing and making excuses. I loved when Arrieta himself had to make a tweet excuse for winning.

Then playing the METS and Cards the media was pushing the magical CUBS, they ate up airtime and pushed out the butt hole like we was watching WGN. Forget about every other team and the AL.
Murphy's monster postseason was second segment stuff played as luck and is already forgotten about yet they're still parading Chicago.

Every MLB sports show should start out with, circus music, a picture of that stupid CUBS rodent mascot and go right into their highlights. Going into the post season and say they win the WS It's will be time to turn off the TV like watching Trump in the elections and winning.

saw this on ESPN.COM:
Pablo Sandoval has been placed on 15-day disabled list with left shoulder strain.
John Farrell unsure when the injury occurred, but said he didn't know about it until Sandoval reported to Fenway today.
Injury has left Sandoval with limited range defensively, according to Farrell.

I don't know if it's comical per say, since on paper they are by far the best team in baseball. Epstein and Hoyer have built a monster.

That said I still vehemently disagree with Bryant's ROY ( he had that shit locked up before the season even started ) and Arrieta is a very good pitcher, but not better than both Greinke or Kershaw. Last season no one was in the same universe as those two.
Facedown wrote:Obviously, the injury happened when he tried to get his backup belt on after popping his normal one during that swing the other day.
Whomp, whomp. 4 more years Boston.

I still can't fucking believe that signing. A noted cancer that has weight issues and has been on a steady decline for a few years now? That's the kind of shit that gets GMs fired. Wait. It did.

*edit

Apparently now Boston won't play Fat Panda again until he drops some weight.

That's fucking hilarious. If there's one thing Fat Panda hates, it's being persecuted for being fat.

Nobody despises the national attention more than the 65 or 70 Cubs fans that have been with this team throughout. I will never forget the days of walking into Wrigley with my father and little brother with 300 other unemployed idiots and watching the DeJesuses, Jerry Martins, Steve Onteveroses and the worst collection of shitty arms in baseball day after day, year after year m. I understand there are more successful teams and organizations in sports. But the weird vitriol and pure hatred against a team that hasn't won in 108 years or been to the series since 1945 absolutely puzzles me. Ratt, I respect the hell out of your sports knowledge and opinions at times, but when something occasionally happens to a small but loyal and knowledgeable fan base that's positive, can you maybe just ease up on the hate? More real Cubs fans are dead than alive waiting for these guys to finally say the phrase Now I Can Die In Peace. There are some of us left. Over 400HRs, Gold Glover, repeat All Star, and generally likable player. Yeah, probably. Eventually.

Well, maybe sooner than later. With the Selig-Era guys in the wings and how just incredibly dickish Bonds and Clemens are, even though pre-asterisk they were two of the greatest of all time. I think that will push Beltre in.

I'm just pulling your chicken and choking your leg, take it with a grain of salt. That's a great story your father took you to games as a kid, I'd be a lifer if that was me as well. I respect the passionate realistic generational fans who understands the game, you and that type of fan would be the reason I'd like to see the Cubs win it.

Obviously I hate the Cubs and have several reasons I'll spare you from.
I may poke sticks at the them but I get ya. The Cubs could use some sunshine, any team other than Boston, Giants or the Yankees would be refreshing actually but sympathy is in short supply. Pass the hanky it's been a hard fudge packing 27 years since the Dodgers last won the Series and only twice in my life, 1981, about the time I stopped eating crayons. Installing the Yankees system and spending over a quarter billion in payroll just to win the division and fold in the playoffs don't make me wanna ride unicorns either. Then the other teams I root for, Cleveland, 67 years? Seattle's never won it, Rockies haven't yet or the A's who took it in 89 after LA 26 years and counting.....Losing sucks and not winning blows.

I've mentioned as a teen I rooted for the CUBS into the Maddux, Grace, Rhino, Dawson day's and because of WGN watched years of CUBS games so I totally get them and they can still blow me for dumping Maddux. It's understandable, the CUBS Ebola coverage is for a team that's in a worse drought then the dust bowl that actually dates back longer then when the dust bowl happened. I agree that some Chi fans dam near deserve a World Series but I hate the type of fan.... "every spring is our year" "wear full apparel and talk shit till the break" "let's toss visitors HR balls back!" and I'm not buying the "haven't won in 100+ years we deserve it!".....It's earned, they look good now is what counts.

I'd give a "cheers" if the CUBS win the WS....Except the dark-side too that....The MEDIA is blowing this shit up like the Hindenburg even if the Hindenburg was more recent then the last Cubs WS win, last seasons overkill was repulsive enough..
It wasn't the fans who voted in last years team for every award. It's not the fans fault the playoffs was like watching it on WGN. It's not the fan's fault every sports news is plastered with Chicago spam.
Basically I despise the MEDIA more then the CUBS and their rabid deserving fans but it's a trifecta of barf. Same goes with all sports really, 20 minutes on a couple teams and 10 minutes on the rest of the league.

Everyone has teams they hate, add in NYY. Yankee fan's don't give a shit they bought every team and title since the dawn of time, make excuses for Aroid injecting taint into the record books, crying on the mound and having yearly KISS retirement tours. I'm surprised they haven't built a statue for Giambi yet. Fuck um.

Anyway.....The CUBS had a great season last year and the best team running this year, enjoy the wins and brush off the haters. If you think the hate is bad now wait till after they win it. It's a good thing you're not a Dodger, Yankee, Boston or Giant fan. Those groups have been flinging poop since someone said, PLAY BALL! If and when the CUBS start winning the fans will get cocky "see Boston" then you'll really see the hate and the heated rivalries will flame on.

------------------------------

BTW......THE GIANTS SUCK! Joc and puig choke in the 9th with a runner on 3rd. Puigy isn't a pinch hitter and letting Joc bat? Another great call from the dugout. Good Games......Oh well...

DODGERS beating BUM, take 2 of 3 from the Giants and are back on top. Its been a GREAT FUCKING weekend. Almost LAPoetic! :P

Hey Kill, what do you think of the Rockies team they've put together? I've watched several games and they look pretty dam good, I think they'll fall like always but unlike the D-Backs they've came out firing....With a LONG WAY too go.

While I always hate losing to the Dodgers, I know LA will gag when it counts, per usual.

I haven't had a lot of time lately to check games out, but I have taken notice. Story ( of course ), Adenando, LaMaheiu, and Parra are lighting it up. I think CO's downfall is/will be no one in their starting rotation is really scary for the long season.

Serious question here for those in the know-Why does Lester have a problem throwing the ball to 1st base?
Just the other day someone bunted, Lester picked up the ball and threw a 2 hopper to 1st base. Not even a good
2 hop throw. It was up the line, headed towards foul territory. I know he's not Steve Blass and he's no Mackey Sasser,
but his condition is inching closer to those 2 former players.

Lester will end up tossing the ball in the stands is why he don't do it.

Headline: "The Cubs' $155 million ace Jon Lester can't throw the ball to first base and it's getting ugly. Lester is struggling to make one of the most basic plays in baseball."

It's funny as hell, he's got mental issues and absolutely wont/cant throw to first. During the Rockies series I noticed runners on 1st were taking huge leads that got further and further, so far they was practically half way to 2nd, I'm guessing at least a 15'+ insane lead. Maybe up to 16'-17'? Their inside leg was getting to be on the OUTSIDE OF THE CUTOUTS! Then both announcers opened up almost in shock saying "that's the largest lead I've ever seen in professional baseball in my life" then they went into Lester's history of this issues. It's a mind game, he can't make the routine throw and teams have noticed now it's becoming a problem.

-------------------------------------

Monday Lester he made his first throws to 1st base since April 2013, 67 starts! The first throw pulled Rizzo off the bag. The 2nd throw from Lester sailed over Rizzo into Right Field and by luck he was saved when the RFer threw the runner out at 3rd.

------------------------------------------

Now that teams are onto this, somethings gonna have to change or Lester will explode, constantly putting runners in scoring position and working out of jams.

Remember the rookie Catcher Rube Baker from the movie Major League II who couldn't toss the ball to the pitcher? Maybe Lester should start reading Frederick's of Hollywood.

When something like 8-1 happens, are we allowed to enjoy it for a fucking day? Can we just walk out of the shitholethat is Wrigley Field and enjoy the moment? Sometimes that's all we have.
I'm just pulling your chicken and choking your leg, take it with a grain of salt. That's a great story your father took you to games as a kid, I'd be a lifer if that was me as well. I respect the passionate realistic generational fans who understands the game, you and

Installing the Yankees system and spending over a quarter billion in payroll just to win the division and fold in the playoffs don't make
I've mentioned as a teen I rooted for the CUBS into the Maddux, Grace, Rhino, Dawson day's and because of WGN watched years of CUBS games so I totally get them and they can still blow me for dumping Maddux.

Couple of follow ups. I know it's media hate, not Cubs hate with a lot of people, but it can definitely come off as Cubs hate sometimes. And you know what? The few of us left living barely breathing that remember the shit and heartache. The backlash is undeserved.

Let's talk about postseason failures, before 2010 can you tell me the last time the San Francisco Giants won the World Series? How about NEVER!

Before 6 years ago the last time the "Giants" won the WS was in NEW YORK in the 50's and before that the 30's. So they move to California and after 60+ years of suckage San Francisco finally wins in 2010 and their fans suddenly transform into Barry Bonds with Giant heads so large they have their own gravitational pull.

John, this is what I was talking about. No matter how good or bad your team is there's always someone talking shit and if their team happened to have won a WS recently it's like giving them Steroids, Viagra and a Bullhorn. It goes with sports and rivalries.
I'd like to see the CUBS 'Win one for the Gipper' for part of that faithful fan base but they'll have fans coming out of the wood work, screaming from roof tops, jumping on the bandwagon and they'll end up with the Yankee downs syndrome. They'll be the ones talking shit.

Hey Kill, did you draft Latos? I told you he'd turn it around!

3-0 .49ERA .60WHIP? Fuck that douche, it wont last he'll end up on the IR with a tattoo infection or kicking the Gatorade Cooler, it's only 3 games but color me impressed after last seasons joke.

You know who I want to win the CY is Sale's, I'd like to see the Sox's take the Central as well but I'm not sure they can hold it off.
