If I remember correctly from Pearcy' book. While in the original Ratt, during his drum solo, Blobby would have a six pack of beer lowered to him via a rope.

Fire causes 'extensive damage' at Glass City

LANCASTER - A heavy burnt smell hung in the air as Glass City Event Center owner Mickey Eaton sat in the parking lot and looked at his business, which fire officials say suffered extensive damage in an early Monday fire.

He said he wanted to wait a day or two before saying much about the fire. But he did say one important thing.

"We're definitely not closing down," Eaton said. "We're definitely going to rebuild it from the ashes up, for sure."

Lancaster Fire Chief David Ward said the cause has not been determined and that the investigation will continue. But he said the fire that appears to have started in the basement does not look suspicious and there are no plans now to turn the investigation over to the police or state fire marshal's office.

"The owner (Eaton) will have to board it up and get a structural engineer to come in and see if the building is still safe," Ward said. "The fire burned a hole in the floor throughout the building. But the good thing is that these older buildings can take a lot of fire and still maintain their structural integrity."

The fire at 431 S. Columbus St. was reported at around 2 a.m. and firefighters had to fight it from outside for a while. A passerby reported the fire, Lancaster Fire Lt. K.J. Watts said.

Assistant Fire Chief Jack Mattlin said the fire started in the basement and spread up through the upper floors. It took between an hour and a half and two hours to extinguish.

"It's certainly not going to be open for quite a while," Mattlin said. A fire investigator was at the scene for much of the day.

Eight neighboring fire townships were called in to provide mutual aid, Mattlin said.

Glass City Event Center, formerly Mickey's Tavern and Tavern at the Mill, has played host to a number of concerts in recent years, many of them rock shows. It most recently hosted Mushroomhead and Thousand Foot Krutch; Bret Michaels played there last year. Ratt and Avatar are scheduled to perform later this year.
