Obviously he is saving the PED abuse for the playoff run.

So happy the Yankees downplayed honoring him last night. Only 2 former Yankees were in attendance.
Mo and David Cone. Yankees gave him a photo booklet and an oil painting
(Ortiz seemed genuinely excited about the oil painting)

SWEEP!!!!
I watched his ceremony. I thought it was nice. The fans gave an ovation and I thought there were funny signs like "Papi thanks for the bad memories." All in all out of all teams that was the one I wanted to see.

Boston is in the playoffs and the MFY is going home. Why weren't you there Mr. New Yorker?

His PED abuse is why he was suspended for a year.

Wait.
FYI; I'll be there next year to root for the Yankees in The Bronx
Too bad Ortiz won't be there. Would love to see him go 0-4 again
This sort of rivalry was fun for the previous 15 plus years
In order to have a rivalry both teams have to be great and have great players. The Yankees vs Sux
certainly qualified. It seemed like just about every game had drama, excitement and a wild finish or two.
That era is now officially over with Ortiz retiring and the Yankees not qualifying for the playoffs in 2016

The "rivalry" was done after 2004. Nails in the coffin with Damon and Ellsbury, etc. All the rivalry players are gone now.

There is no beef with Betts and Judge, blah, blah, blah. The mlb rivalries still going is St. Louis and Chicago and SF and LA.

Aside from Kershaw and Bumgarner being friends those two teams literally hate each other.

I only saw NY @ Boston once and Ortiz took em' deep that game. Hold onto that 0-4 ( he hits .238 off Sabathia ), he has the third most HRs against the MFY behind Manny and Wiliams. So even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes apparently.

Unfortunately you are not the batter and I am not on the mound right now. I would go up & in on you, circa Clemens vs Manny, 2003
In 2017, Judge is going to slide hard into 2B, taking out little Pedey and the rivalry will ignite once again.
Or, Sanchez will play pepper with the green monster for a weekend and a less than average pitcher(like Dempster) will
drill Sanchez in the back, igniting another brawl.
It will happen.

That would be cool. It needs that.

As for Clemens and Manny in '03. Manny would have killed him. Was 10 ft. from him in 2005 and it blew my mind how massive he was. Clemens was big too, but Manny was a monster.

Why are you involved? The discussion was between a die hard Yankees fan and a former Red Sux fan
that has since moved on to another team or two or three. And also riding the nutz of a GM in Chicago.

Very true, the 4 game sweep was brutal to see and have happen. All but ruined the 2016 season.
Nice of the young team to return with a 3 game sweep. Just shows this roster is still playing
hard and might have a bright future. Something all MLB fans are hoping not to see.

Maybe he got it from David Justice, Jose Canseco, Chuck Knoblach, or Jason Grimsley. The shit in pinstripes is primo.
Or maybe from Manny, huh? Yeah, Manny Ramirez. Remember him? Nomar, Varitek, etc...
The shit in Boston had a slight hint on chowda w/a little bit of Rye
While I believe Nomah used, he wasn't on the list. Neither was Varitek. So there's Manny and Ortiz. And?
Nobody got hurt faster after the new rules than Nomar.

Mlb app has free games right now. The last game of the season and last of Vin Scully's career. Just a head's up.

I don't care who you root for, if you have a chance to hear Scully do the broadcast you take it.

Got to hear a little bit, been hearing an inning or two all week streaming online thinking how much he'll be missed. I picked up a bunch of shirts, I'm officially a Vin fan boy now. Funny as fuck, I bought 3 shirts from one vendor on amazon and when they rang up the total they only charged me for the shipping. Three different colored $15 shirts, $8.45 shipping and the total charged was $8.45....Hey thanks!

Told you I wasn't giving up on SF! I said LA couldn't win in SF. It's even year, SF gets hot in the end, LAD always gets cold..........I'm kicking the Giants pulled it off, but I'm not sure if they're the best match for anyone to take down the SOON TO BE WORLD CHAMP's CUBS which is the main goal.

Dodgers adding puig to the line up late in the season was good, he better come off the bench in the post. They fucked with the line up getting playing time this week and it's screwed up their mojo. They'll be lucky to take one from Washington. They're bat's are cold and they played better when they was fighting. Now that they're healthy they don't know who to start and where.

Stil, winning the division was amazing to me, no way did I think it would happen. 4 years in a row is a first in the West I think? LAD put more players on the DL this year then any team in history, 15 different starters including five rookies. 22nd in batting. All bull pen. Dave Roberts did a good job but he kind of fucked up the flow this last week. Now he's like Don, can win in the season lets see how he handles the Post.

I read Roberts was calling around the league and other coaches for advice....

At least Washington is on the DL now, but with them not healthy.....No one has a chance at the Stacked Soon To Be Champion CUBS. Cinderella Goliath bitches.

Baseball was in crisis. Steroid use seemed rife, and performance enhancers were readily available, perhaps nowhere more conveniently than over the counter in the loosely regulated pharmacies of Ortiz’s native country.

Ortiz was a regular at those drugstores, though he insists he never knowingly bought steroids.

Nine days before he arrived in Fort Myers he was crowned the Most Valuable Player of the Caribbean World Series for leading his Dominican team to the title. In the following years, at least five members of that Dominican club, including Ortiz, would be publicly linked to performance enhancers.

“I was taking whatever supplements were good at the time, stuff that everybody was using that would sustain me in my workouts,’’ he said.

Which supplements? The substance that triggered his positive test result has yet to be identified.

“It’s been a long time,’’ Ortiz said. “I don’t know.’’

He must have a clue, he was told. He had previously stated he was “careless’’ about the products he put in his body.

“All I can tell you is, I was using what everybody was using at the time,’’ Ortiz said. “It’s not like I was picky about it.’’

There you go, Kill. From the Boston Globe. Go ahead and refute the reporting.
Ortiz failed a test in 2003. Just like 100 other players did that year. Only a year before stricter testing began in MLB.

The New York Times reported July 30, 2009 that David Ortiz was one of 100 major leaguers to test positive for performance enhancing drugs during a test in 2003 in which results were supposed to stay anonymous.

This leak of information potentially could keep Ortiz out of the Hall of Fame. No player who ever has been linked to performance enhancers has ever been elected to the Hall of Fame.

But MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said people don't understand all the facts about the 2003 list. He said there were 10 or more false-positives. He would not say if Ortiz was one.

"The list was supposed to be confidential and I take very seriously a commitment on confidentiality and I think that it's really unfortunate that anybody's name was ever released publicly," Manfred said today before Ortiz's final regular season game. "I don't think people understand very well what that list was. The prevision in the agreement was that if there was over a certain percentage of players that were positives, that you would we go into actual identified, personal testing the next year.

"We (got) a list of results back," Manfred added. "We were well over the percentage necessary to trigger real testing (the next year). And again, this is a long time ago, I would tell you there were double-digits of names, so more than 10, on that list where we knew — and the 'we' in that sentence is the Major League Baseball Players Association and us — that there were legitimate, scientific questions about whether or not those were truly positives. OK? So if in fact there were test results like that today on a player and we tried to discipline, there would be a big grievance. It would be fully aired, vetted, tried, resolved.

"We didn't do that. Those issues and ambiguities were never resolved because we knew they didn't matter," Manfred said. "We knew we had enough positives that everybody agreed on that we were going to trigger the testing the following year.

"So what's my point with all this long thing? Even if Rob Manfred's name was on that list, he might have been one of those 10 or 15 where there was probably or at least possibly a very legitimate explanation that did not involve the use of a banned substance."

Manfred would not say whether Ortiz was one of those 10-15 false positives.

"I do know that he's never been a positive at any point under our program," Manfred said.

Facedown-Maybe Manfred will show some sack and get the results to be made public. Enough of the secrets and hiding behind the CBA.
Show the damn list. Let the fans read the list of who tested positive and who tested false positive. Once and for all.
I should add that not sharing the list after 13 years is ridiculous.

ARod was busted. He served his time. End of story. Now it's time to go after
Bud Selig for his actions during the steroid era.
Time to go after Bonds, Sosa, McGwire. Oh wait, they all get a pass now
because...well I'm not sure why but suddenly nobody cares that much about those 3 former PED abusers.

He was busted but he didn't serve his LIFE TIME BAN. He bought his time. His lawyers, money, politics the union and whoever are the ones who got paid and served Aroids time. A year wasn't justice or right. Not to mention he's still lying and hiding all the shit he did.

Arod is a fucking pimp drug dealing smuggler who got a Jay Walking ticket.

Selig, I'm with ya, I'll say it again...He needs to be dropped in an ISIS camp wearing a Yankee hat bomb.

Selig in an ISiS camp would be much deserved.

Signed to sell milb tickets Tim Tebow reporting to Arizona Fall League.

Cubs announce NLDS rotation. Lester, Kendricks, Arrieta, and Lackey. That's pretty mean.

The most laughable sick part.........

Alex Rodriguez made about $230,000 for every game he played this year, an average of over $60,000 each time he walked up to the plate and took home a ridiculous $16,000 per pitch this season.

A contract bought and paid for by PED's.

HAHAHA!
OMG, you guys are funny with the ARod hate. Hate for him began back in the days when he was in Seattle.
I'm just glad he won 1 ring. Which is more than you can say for a lot of great players who abused PED's
(with the support of Bud Selig)

Toronto defeats Baltimore in 11 innings. Zach Britton wasn't used. "He was available" - Buck Showalter On not using Britton "it didn't work out." Showalter is an idiot, but I dislike him so I'm happy for his failure.

Toronto moves to face Texas, whom they are 4-3 against this season. The Blue Jays defeated TX last year in the ALDS. This should be a good series.

Bumgarner to face Sydergard tomorrow @5 PST. This should be a good pitching matchup.

I still see TX as the best team in the AL. So I think they'll beat Toronto.

I'm not sure. They're pretty evenly matched. Madbum vs. Thor is only a few percentage points away from each other in each catagory.

I think SF has an edge because of their must needed sweep against LAD, they did it, but they're season record isn't dominate against NL postseason teams.

I thought for sure TX was favored and it would go 7 at most. I was wrong. It went 5. Thought they would beat Detroit in 6, not a sweep. Thought they would roll KC in 5....it went to the last out in 7.

What the fuck do I know? I think SF will win. I still don't see anyone beating TX in the AL. Boston is on fire right now and Porcello ( Rick fucking Porcello ) is a Cy Young candidate, but I just don't trust their pitching. I see TX in the World Series for the AL. The NL is too close.

Knock out Dusty and hairflip boy though.

Speaking of which Dusty Baker wants to be the first black manager in the HOF. Ummmm yeah, if you didn't suck, mismanage, cost your team a World Series win(s) he certainly could be.

Also some restored photos. This is Christy Mathewson. Fascinating player and in my top 5 for all time best pitchers. Read a great book on him and John McGraw called 'The Old Ball Game: How Christy Mathewson, John McGraw, and the NY Giants Created Modern Baseball.'

Jays fans have zero class. Isn't this the 3rd instance of a Jays fan throwing something onto the field in the previous few seasons?
What if this beer can had hit the Oriole player? What would have been justified following? The Orioles would have
been within their right to pound the person(s) responsible into submission.
Turns out the fan was not ejected because he left the scene before police could catch him.
Toronto Mayor John Tory, speaking on CFRB radio, called the fan a "loon ball."

The fuck? You root for a team that's fan base has a fucking REPUTATION FOR THROWING D CELL BATTERIES AT OPPOSING PLAYERS IN THE OUTFIELD. Certainly, you knew that though, going to MFY Stadium and all that.

SF beats NYM 3-0 to advance to face the Cubs on the NLDS.

I thought for sure that when the Giants left the bases loaded in the 8th that it would come back to haunt them.

What the fuck? I just watched the game. Thor had 10K?!?!? They better start hitting. Bumgarner isn't the only ace that can pitch late into games.

Jays Estrada @ Hammels in TX tomorrow. I see Texas winning this series. I think I said that last year too though.

Porcello @ Bauer in Cleveland too. I heard that Kluber isn't 100%, so he'll face Price on Friday. Cleveland's advantage is their pitching. Sucks the word is the season has wore them down. I think I read that somewhere.

Kershaw @ Scherzer Friday. Talk about hating both teams  I probably hate Washington more because of Baker. The game one pitching looks incredible, but Clayton has had playoff issues. I still want to see this one though.

Cueto @ Lester also on Friday. That leaves Moore to face Arrieta Saturday? You'll be getting Chicago's top of the rotation to start the series in Chicago? Crazier things have happened but that looks bad.

Did the Mets really think they were going to win the game? Of course not. They are the Mets and heartache is their destiny.
Not so amazing Mets after all.
