this has been in works for a long time but Congress would never approve it. What it would do is set up a non profit organization run by the airlines and airline industry people appointed by Trump's transportation secretary. In effect, it would turn the air traffic control industry into a company like the US Postal Service or AMTrak

Wow I can't believe what I just read in a email sent to me from the VFW. I copied the gist of it for you guys to read too.

Background: The budget proposal put forward by President Trump included proposals to financially penalize disabled veterans to pay for other VA program enhancements. To the VFW, this is a nonstarter. The plan would force veterans, who are unable to work because of injuries they received during military service, to surrender their benefit when they reach retirement age. These cuts would amount to tens of thousands of dollars annually for an average veteran and could financially devastate our most severely disabled veterans.
We must fight this proposal!
Take Action: Contact your members of Congress and tell them to oppose the proposed cuts to Individual Unemployability (IU). Let them know that you won’t allow Congress to balance the federal budget on the backs of veterans!

Unfuckingbelieveable I can't wrap my head around this.

That'll cost the Republicans votes in the midterms.

you can think that but the GOP have figured out that most people are so fucking stupid they'll happily vote against their own best interests because of emotion. I wouldn't be shocked if around Sept or Oct 2018 either we have a major terrorist attack or some fringe non-issue like LGBT rights becomes big news again, anything to get the village idiots in key districts and states to flock to the polls and vote the GOP into greater power.

Remember, in GOP controlled states - states with a GOP Governor and GOP legislatures - they are passing strict voted ID laws designed to keep minorities and other groups who historically vote Democratic, away from the polls come election day.

If people who are registered to vote actually got off their lazy asses and voted, Democrats would control everything both Federal and State

Now Trump is trying to take credit for the Saudis isolating Qatar over very dubious allegations of terrorism support (read: relations with Iran), which the FBI actually seems to be tracing back to Russian hackers. This is a mess on so many levels, especially with breaking news of a terrorist attack on the parliament of Teheran.

Even worse, if Trump thinks this somehow qualifies as a success he brought on, he's actually proud of starting yet another Middle-Eastern war among the Gulf states, over a latent crisis which Obama helped a lot to cool down in recent years. This could be a global disaster.

Trump has nominated Chris Wray for FBI Director - why is this important? Chris Wray is a partner at the law firm King & Spalding - the firm who represents Russia's national oil company Rosneft. He's also NJ Gov. Chris Christie's personal defense attorney.

Gotta give Trump credit for not shying away from the look of impropriety. Most folks under investigation for working with the Russians would steer clear of all things Russia.
Not DJT, he's like fuck it, lets nominate the guy who works with the biggest oil firm in Russia, that's the ticket.

Did anyone tell the dynamite monkey that Qatar hosts the largest US base in the Middle East? Something like 10,000 folks )along with other coalition forces). The Pentagon is publically going around contradicting him. Turkey is sending troops...so yeah. Nothing like stepping into a regional hegemony/religious clusterfuck.

Could it have anything to do with securing a warm water port for Russia?
And what's Halliburton up to these days? Getting ready for some pipeline work?

Eric Trump says Washington Democrats "are not even people"
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/eric-trump- ... en-people/

Eric Trump on Tuesday night said Democrats supporting the investigation into Russia and his father's campaign "are not even people."
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/eric-trump- ... en-people/

President Trump's son made the comments Tuesday night to Fox News' Sean Hannity, amid ongoing developments related to the FBI's Russia probe and fallout from the firing of FBI Director James Comey. Eric Trump also lashed out against Democrats more broadly, and called the head of the Democratic National Committee, Tom Perez, a "total whackjob."

"I've never seen hatred like this," Trump told Hannity, who said he agreed with the comments. "And to me, they're not even people. It's so, so sad. I mean, morality's just gone. Morals have flown out the window. We deserve so much better than this as a country."

And you know, so sad," Trump continued. "You see the Democratic Party -- they're imploding. They're imploding. They have no message. You see the head of the DNC, who is a total whackjob. There's no leadership here."

The Senate Intelligence Committee just released Comey's prepared testimony, and it is remarkable.
‘I need loyalty’: James Comey’s riveting prepared testimony about what Trump asked him, annotated

"My instincts told me that the one-on-one setting, and the pretense that this was our first discussion about my position, meant the dinner was, at least in part, an effort to have me ask for my job and create some sort of patronage relationship. That concerned me greatly, given the FBI’s traditionally independent status in the executive branch."

The 'Russian warm water port' thing is Syria - Latakia to be precise. Qatar also hosts Al Jazeera, which a lot of other middle east governments regard as dangerously liberal (= mildly critical of them), given that they demand and expect complete obeisance at all times. But yes, mainly it's just part of the grand Saudi v Iran regional pissing contest that's been playing out for the last few decades.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/four-top-law ... 23972.html
Top lawyers with at least four major law firms rebuffed White House overtures to represent President Trump in the Russia investigations, in part over concerns that the president would be unwilling to listen to their advice, according to five sources familiar with discussions about the matter.

The unwillingness of some of the country’s most prestigious attorneys and their law firms to represent Trump has complicated the administration’s efforts to mount a coherent defense strategy to deal with probes being conducted by four congressional committees as well as Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller.

Among them, sources said, were some of the most high-profile names in the legal profession, including Brendan Sullivan of Williams & Connolly; Ted Olson of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Paul Clement and Mark Filip of Kirkland & Ellis; and Robert Giuffra of Sullivan & Cromwell.

The lawyers and their firms cited a variety of factors in choosing not to take on the president as a client. Some, like Brendan Sullivan, said they had upcoming trials or existing commitments that would make it impossible for them to devote the necessary time and resources to Trump’s defense.

Others mentioned potential conflicts with clients of their firms, such as financial institutions that have already received subpoenas relating to potential money-laundering issues that are part of the investigation.

But a consistent theme, the sources said, was the concern about whether the president would accept the advice of his lawyers and refrain from public statements and tweets that have consistently undercut his position.

“The concerns were, ‘The guy won’t pay and he won’t listen,’” said one lawyer close to the White House who is familiar with some of the discussions between the firms and the administration, as well as deliberations within the firms themselves.

Other factors, the lawyer said, were that it would “kill recruitment” for the firms to be publicly associated with representing the polarizing president and jeopardize the firms’ relationships with other clients.

Another lawyer briefed on some of the discussions agreed that the firms were worried about the reputational risk of representing the president. One issue that arose, this lawyer said, was “Do I want to be associated with this president and his policies?” In addition, the lawyer said, there were concerns that if they took on the case, “Who’s in charge?” and “Would he listen?”

I think at this point, anyone would have to be a complete numbskull to get involved with this administration on any level. Shit, even if you're just called about hanging picture frames in the White House, do *not* do it.

Reading those article quotes though, it seems to be symbolic of the future. Of Trump hopefully running out of options. I'd be willing to bet that Trump would undo any legal defense crafted for him. He just can't seem to help but muck these things up.

Nothing should surprise me at this point but when I'm reminded of the enormity of the administration's troubles, I marvel. Almost six months into the presidency and the whole thing is nothing. This is not a presidency. Nothing beneficial for the country is really getting done. The whole thing is nothing but chaos.

On election night, when I was a bundle of nerves and the hours wore on, I ran out and got some wine and ice cream to help me calm down and slowly embrace the inevitable as it unfolded on television. It's only right that for tomorrow's hearing and (so I hear) live tweet entertainment, I run out and get popcorn.
