You ever wonder about Trump's ridiculous-looking teeth?

http://www.thedailybeast.com/three-dona ... vent-heard

About 15 years ago, I had occasion to consult with a fancy Upper East Side dental surgeon who specialized in cosmetic work. The circumstances are unimportant, though he did notice that I was getting older and might want to consider implants or veneers since he said I had made my teeth considerably smaller over the years by grinding them. An occupational hazard, I guess.

The dentist was momentarily called away, and when he returned to the conference room where I waited, he had a set of teeth molds in his hand.

“Do you know what these are?” he asked with a smirk. Then, without waiting for an answer, added: “Donald Trump’s teeth.”

The dentist said Trump would come to the office every six months or so complaining that his veneers weren’t white enough.

“I tell him that if they are too white, they won’t look real,” the dentist said, as I recall, “but he won’t listen. So he picks a shade, and I make them about one-quarter as white as the shade he selects, and he goes away happy.”

I took his story with a scrape of plaque since he seemed a bit of a salesman himself. But as he walked me down the hall, he motioned with his eyes to an examining room. The door was open and I could see the back of a famous head of hair in the dentist’s chair.

So what’s the takeaway? Self-absorption of the highest order or just a celebrity who likes to look his gleaming best?

Again, your call.

So we are going to go backwards with Cuba. Why?

He'll praise every fucking strongman that crosses his path, and cuddle up to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states that are repressive, especially the Saudis. (One of his cabinet members commented about there being no protests in the KSA while they were there..well, duh, it's illegal and would be brutally suppressed).

Cuba.

Scott Pruitt and Coal Jobs
http://www.factcheck.org/2017/06/scott- ... coal-jobs/

The Environmental Protection Agency head said that the “coal sector” added 7,000 jobs in May and “almost 50,000 jobs” since the fourth quarter of last year. But the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports an increase of just 400 coal mining jobs in May and 1,300 since December.

We asked the EPA where Pruitt got his data, but we did not receive a response.

Table B-1 shows an increase of 6,600 mining jobs, from 648,700 in April to 655,300 in May. But “mining” refers to gas, oil, metal ores, coal and nonmetallic mineral mining and quarrying. It also includes jobs created in a category called “support activities for mining.”

As for coal mining jobs, BLS says there were 51,000 jobs in May, up 400 from 50,600 jobs in April. Since December 2016, the number of coal jobs has increased by 1,300, according to the BLS.

The biggest increase in mining jobs was in the category of “support activities for mining.” There were 292,400 such support jobs in May, up 7,900 jobs from April. BLS could not tell us how many of those jobs were related to coal mining, as opposed to gas, oil, metal ores and nonmetallic minerals. We do know, however, that most of those jobs support the gas and oil industries. There were 211,700 support jobs for oil and gas operations in April, according to the BLS.

The American Coal Council, an industry trade group, estimates that there are “over 80,000 coal jobs” in the U.S., including support jobs. In an email, Terry Headley, a spokesman for the council, provided us a link to a report by the National Mining Association that showed there were 81,842 coal jobs in 2016. He said that figure includes support jobs, such as truck drivers, electricians, surveyors, mechanics and service technicians — explaining why it is higher than the BLS figure of 51,000.

We don’t know where Pruitt got his figures, but BLS data do not support his claim that the coal sector added 7,000 jobs in May and almost 50,000 since the fourth quarter of last year.

Update, June 6: In a June 6 interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Pruitt said (at the 1:57 mark): “[W]e’ve had a growing job market in the mining sector, including coal. We’ve had almost 50,000 jobs created since the fourth quarter last year in the mining sector, including coal.” He cited the Bureau of Labor Statistics as his source.

But the “almost 50,000” increase in mining jobs is not since the fourth quarter. In its June 2 release, BLS said: “Employment in mining has risen by 47,000 since reaching a recent low point in October 2016, with most of the gain in support activities for mining.” Plus, few of the 47,000 jobs were coal mining jobs. As we said, the BLS reports an increase of just 1,300 coal mining jobs since December. The rest of the mining jobs were created in gas, oil, metal ores, and nonmetallic mineral mining and quarrying, as well as support jobs in the mining sector. Most of the support jobs were for oil and gas operations, not coal mining.

Worth also pointing out that the growth in coal jobs started in Sept 2016, under Obama. For all the talk about coal jobs, there are only 50,000 coal miners compared to 123.831 million private payrolls (.04% of private payrolls).

Sessions says he will not testify at congressional budget hearings this week
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/na ... e637857246

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who had agreed to testify this week before both the Senate and House appropriations committees about the Justice Department budget, wrote the chairmen of both committees Saturday and said he was sending his deputy to testify instead.

Sessions was scheduled to testify before Congress on Tuesday for the first time since he was confirmed as attorney general in February. In light of former FBI director James B. Comey’s testimony last week, Sessions was expected to get many questions from lawmakers about his contacts with Russian officials during the 2016 elections.

Sessions can hide all he wants. The guy is fucked. A bunch of them are. Take for example Paul Ryan (again). Anyone worried about whether he'll make to VP shouldn't. He was in a conversation about Trump's connection to Putin that he told the House Majority Leader they were going to keep quiet. This was a year ago. And Pence as the transition team leader surely was aware of some of the Russia rumblings. I don't think when all is said and done we're going to see a President Pence.

the thing with Sessions is that he's already perjured himself when he testified during his confirmation hearing about having no contact with Russia so when he testifies next week will he double down on his lies? If he admits he had contact then that contradicts what he testified previously. So he either doubles down on his lies or admits his perjury. Unless I'm missing something.

Trump’s son seems to confirm Comey’s account of the president’s comments on the Flynn investigation
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/pos ... aw7&wpmm=1

Soon after former FBI director James B. Comey testified that President Trump told him that he “hoped” the FBI would drop its investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn, the president's personal lawyer flatly denied that accusation and said Trump “never, in form or substance, directed or suggested that Mr. Comey stop investigating anyone.”

But Donald Trump Jr. — the president's eldest son — seemed to confirm Comey's version of events in a Saturday interview on Fox News as he tried to emphasize the fact that his father did not directly order Comey to stop investigating Flynn.

“When he tells you to do something, guess what? There's no ambiguity in it, there's no, 'Hey, I'm hoping,'" Trump Jr. said. “You and I are friends: 'Hey, I hope this happens, but you've got to do your job.' That's what he told Comey. And for this guy, as a politician, to then go back and write a memo: 'Oh, I felt threatened.' He felt so threatened — but he didn't do anything.”

Trump Jr. also said that Comey's testimony “vindicated” the president and that everything in it was “basically ridiculous.”

“I think he's proven himself to be a liar in all of this. I think he's proven himself to be a dishonest man of bad character,” Trump Jr. said.

So is Junior the baby elephant killer saying that his dad discussed this with him, the head of the "blind trust", a meeting with another government official? Or is Donnie, Jr. just going by the news?

From the beginning Trump has caught his foot in a conundrum bear trap. The only way Comey "leaking" info to anybody is a problem would be if that info was factual. So Trump fills his diaper over this discussion "leaking" but then claims he never said it. Why should he be worried about this if it's not even true?

One of the fun ironies of the Trump presidency is that honest government is "transparent", right? With Trump it's the lies and bullshit that are transparent. He is the worst liar ever. He's like a kid with cookie crumbs all over his face claiming "Nope. I did not steal the cookies."

No telling where this scandal will go. When Whitewater started Monica Lewinsky was an unknown high school student. Six years later she's getting a President impeached. Who knows what will materialize during hearings in the next few years. Look for a few of the Trump brats to take a fall.
