I suggest it's the corduroy pants he got a few years ago. They fit okay, but they make noise when he walks. They look good, but aren't really in fashion. Every time he puts them on he changes his mind and throws them back in the closet, unable to throw them away because... well, he doesn't know. It doesn't make any sense.
