I'm referring to the segments I've seen and like I said no talk of a hoax, it's pretty simple they talked about the situation without fear mongering, no constant talk of "shouldn't every single American have a test???", or "We only have a million hospital beds what ever shall we do??", I've talked to several people who apparently think they need to run and get tested even though they show no symptoms and havn't been close to anyone at risk, so yeah the fear mongering is working, I can only imagine the craze going on in bigger cities that have actual confirmed cases.

Well, we have cases in a smaller town (16K) showing up here in Oregon. Verified cases. My step-daughter thought that was concerning. I pointed out to her that she and her guy both have been back and forth from Seattle for their work. And that Covid19 has been on the west coast, specifically Seattle metro area for at least three months.

Personally I think she and her guy should be tested. They both fly to Alaska from Seattle***. Though flights are already fucked up out west (Bering Sea) because of this. One crewman of the boyfriend has a massive, fucking massive family emergency going on in Washington, and it has taken at least four days to get out of Dutch, and he has to fly to bumfuck St.Paul to get out, hopefully tomorrow. Though part of that may be because the airport out there has been fucked up by a couple of plane crashes anyway.

President Donald Trump announced Friday that the US government’s coronavirus testing apparatus, which has lagged badly behind other developed nations, would soon get an assist from Google. The search and advertising giant will create a website, Trump said, that would help Americans figure out if they need a test for the virus, and if so where they can find one.

The only problem: There is no nationwide site like the one Trump described. And Google had no idea the president was going to mention one.

A source at Google tells WIRED that company leadership was surprised that Trump announced anything about the initiative at the press conference. What he did say was also almost entirely wrong. There will be a coronavirus testing site, not from Google but from Alphabet sister company Verily. “We are developing a tool to help triage individuals for Covid-19 testing,” Google tweeted in a statement. “Verily is in the early stages of development, and planning to roll testing out in the Bay Area, with the hope of expanding more broadly over time.”

The White House declined to comment on the record, but did not dispute that Google was unaware that Trump would announce the site Friday.

There's a thin line between "fear mongering" and simply being prepared and realistic about the threat. The testing issue is legit because we've had instances of the virus getting passed from people who display no symptoms to vulnerable demographics (older people).
