Not unless Oscar is the name of Ezra Miller's cellmate.

You Hurt My Feelings - 7/10. Pretty funny. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a semi-successful author and her husband (some guy I kinda recognized) is a therapist. She overhears him telling his best friend that he doesn't really like her new book after continuously praising it to her face. So things get heated. Some funny side stories, especially David Cross and Amber Tamblyn as a bickering couple getting marriage counseling from the husband and then asking for their $30,000 back when it doesn't work...

The Last Voyage of the Demeter - 6.5/10
A decent enough entry into/expansion of the Dracula mythos, but nothing incredible. I feel like they tried to set up a sequel at the end - it does not need one.

I don't really go to theaters anymore, but I watched Saturday Night Fever a couple days ago....11/10.
...maybe 12. It is a perfect film.

Indeed. Robert Downey's performance was on par with Murphy's IMO.Black Mamba wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 6:02 pm Oppenheimer - 9/10

Painkiller - Netflix original. 8/10
Would have been perfect, just filled with too much over-the-top nonsense. If you seen the film, then you know what I am talking about.
Taylor Kitsch performance as a blue-collar Oxy addict was spot-on brilliant.

Not that good. I'd say 5.5/10. Not something I'd recommend, but it was good for a background movie.

Must’ve gotten its hype from the viral dance riding on the coattails of the Wednesday dance. Almost everything with Allison Williams is mediocre.DemonFilth2001 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 2:14 pmNot that good. I'd say 5.5/10. Not something I'd recommend, but it was good for a background movie.

I watched 1980's Xanadu last night.
I would rate it in negative numbers...like, maybe a minus 5.
It was horrifyingly bad...like, it made me ashamed to be of the same species that greenlit and made it.
I am seriously thinking about moving to the forest to live with the squirrels or raccoons or some other such blameless animals.

Hey maaannn...it's just because I enjoyed Saturday Night Fever so much last week, I thought I'd check out the whole DISCO MOVIE genre...I actually went with Thank God It's Friday before Xanadu. It is trash also, but really fun trash with lots of future stars like 1978 Terri Nunn and Jeff Goldblum, and the whole thing was filmed at Osko's disco on La Cienega, which was the original site of Cathouse and White Trash Au Go-Go, two of my favorite eighties clubs.GreatWhiteSnake wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 4:32 pmNobody to blame but yourself really...Sleek wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 2:37 pm I watched 1980's Xanadu last night.

I MIGHT go for Can't Stop the Music, which is also supposedly horrible...but may go for Car Wash before that.
If anybody has any GOOD suggestions, I am all goddamned ears.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
My wife and daughter dragged me to see The Barbie movie . They have both seen it twice claiming it’s hilarious and i will love it.. Neither was true. I thought it was a humourless pile of shit . It reminded me of a bad SNL skit with no punchline or point. The 90 minutes in the theatre felt like 3 hours. Margo Robbie and Dua Lipa look good so I’ll give it a 3/10.

I watched that FLASH movie because it is a thing that exists and was on some shit I get free with my phone plan.
It was poopy shitty shit. Overstuffed superhero nonsense filled with fan service and easter eggs, but no real heart or purpose. It has a plot that seems like the ramblings of a hyper child making up a story.
It's movies like this this one that are going to kill the genre. When people talk about "superhero movie fatigue", what they really mean is: "Poopy shite superhero movie fatigue".
I give it liiiiike, 4/10...most of those are just because they went there with Nicholas Cage.

Last night I watched 1978's CHEERLEADERS BEACH PARTY.
It wasn't great, even for the titty exploitation genre, far below masterpieces like Gas Pump Girls or even Hollywood High...the girls were hot enough, but seldom got their titties out, and I am not sure WHAT was going on in the sex scenes, which would just be two people in their underwear rolling around on each other.
The plot culminates in the cheerleaders putting pubic lice in a bunch of football player's jock straps before a big tryout. HILARITY DOES NOT ENSUE.
I give it a 4/10.
