That time Nikki Sixx wore a Swastika shirt onstage

Post by VinceVanLane »

This video from 1999 in Toledo went up this week and it made me realize how hard Sixx has tried to be controversial. Maybe he was trying to get cancelled in 1999. This is a still from the video. This should be up there with Sebastian's past shirt choices.

He was clearly trying to emulate Sid.

But Sid had already done it, so nobody really cared when Nikki did it.

Wasn’t this the time where he was trying to get control of their masters by pissing off label boss Sylvia Rhone? As she was black and Jewish, racism and Nazism were the obvious way to go.

See also the Greensboro incident with his calculated use of the N-word, and how he built up to it by saying the guard was "a big f*cking black man" and just seconds after said "don't call me racist". If Mars said it it would be expected but for Sixx it just seemed out of character.

They got control of the masters in 1998. This was 1999.

Johnny Thunders did it way before Sid. Both of them were reprehensible morons, so is Nikki. He’s probably proud that I’m comparing him to those two idiots. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Motley Crue was one of the worst and most lucky-assed bands to make it out of the genre.

That is a different type of swastika than the Nazi one, but still stupid to do for sure.

He has also worn swastika glasses before & on the 1994 tour they used swastikas in their light show on stage. He just wants attention.

Seems desperate, was this before or after he noticed the tour was tanking?

This was at the Hollywood Palladium, CA at the end of the American leg of tour & the tour had already tanked.

He also called Gene and Paul something to the effect of greedy Jews when they let Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer go after the reunion took off successfully.

They really are. I know a lot of people probably think Motley Crue is like a gimmick and it's just "rock n roll" and all that, but they're truly really shitty human beings that won the lottery. The scary thing is the stories we've all heard about Motley Crue probably don't even scratch the surface as to some of the shitty things they've done.

Yep. Motley Crue IS a gimmick and a lot of it couldn't be more fake. But you can't fake murdering someone and injuring others while driving drunk and then continuing to drive drunk. You can't fake being arrested for domestic abuse. You can't fake not paying your child support payments. Just shitty, shitty people.

We should cancel mick mars for they confederate flag truck stop decal he had on the back of the black les Paul which is probably worth 6 figures today that he sold for peanuts. For such a “punk rocker” I don’t think anyone can prove any evidence of nikki being involved in any of it in the 70s

As a young teen I was a fan of the Pistols, local radio had a comp to draw your dad as a rock star for a Father’s Day competition.
I drew him as Sid, with the swastika on the shirt, spiky hair etc.
I quite proudly showed him the drawing before I sent it in, he lost his shit, grabbed it and ripped it to shreds.
I had no idea why, wasn’t till some time later after he calmed down and explained why.

Mick.

I also just found a guy on Reddit who's posted a few times about Nikki being married to his aunt for a while, that she helped Nikki write the Heroin Diaries, that it and The Dirt are mostly bullshit written for entertainment (duh!), they've been "live on tape" since the 80s, etc. Yes, anyone can be claim to be anyone else on the internet, so take it with a bucket of salt, but this is Sludge so here's a post from https://www.reddit.com/r/MotleyCrue/com ... hem_as_an/

"I used to think he was a good guy. He would call me and tell me to stay out of trouble, he would give me and my friends back stage passes for shows. Then he left my aunt, tried to have her framed for stealing after he had someone break into her house and steal cameras and equipment, laptops from her, hired Dr. Phil to try and convince my cousin to get an abortion and said he would never help her with the child if she had it, which would've been his granddaughter,my aunt helped him write the heroin diaries which is mostly made up. He's lied about his parents, especially his father being dead whose name is frank. I've met him years ago. He's really a total piece of shit, not to mention the fake playing on stage which has been going on for decades and I just recently found out that it's been that way since the 80s. They don't play shit."

Mick.
Which makes him the biggest asshole in a band of assholes.

Mick deserves everything that has happened to him.

That said, you can't make a Mötley Crüe album without him. Or Vince. Replacing Tommy with a "better" drummer would be like Scott Travis replacing Dave Holland - just wrong. And who would write Mötley songs when even Nikki himself can't do that anymore?

It's over. As it has been since 1992.

Can I recommend a trip to India, where they have swastikas everywhere as a symbol of love? Or Sweden where the 1912 Olympic Stadium is decorated with swastikas? Not all swastikas are nazi related, just like not all half moons are Islamic.

He recycled an idea from his 70s heroes Thunders and Vicious. The striped jumpsuit was not his idea either....

a friend of mine developed some pics for him when they were recording the 94 album. a couple of them he was wearing a full on uniform (or part of it) and if i remember correctly he was doing the salute. not that it means anything, he might have just been fucking around in the studio being sober. right?

He was 41 in that picture. Always trying too hard to be edgy. I know there have been some horrible people in the music industry but the Crue guys are definitely up there. A couple deadbeat dads, at least one rapist, a killer, a wife beater. They can't stand each other but know without the Motley name they're persona non grata as far as anything music related goes. I'd venture to say John 5 has seen more success as a solo artist in the last 10 years than any of the other guys. They rely on backing tapes as much or even more than most pop acts. Vince has had multiple chances to get his shit together and at least pretend like he gives a fuck, but nope. It's one horrible performance after another. I can understand the pull of nostalgia that the stadium tour had but after that, I figured the rest of the world would be done with these clowns. They're not edgy, they're a joke live and they're horrible people. I wouldn't be surprised if Nikki decides to sport the nazi shirt again at some point because he's so fucking punk.
