Die Antwoord - Zef Documentary

Anyone else fascinated by Die Antwoord's Yolandi and Ninja? Their documentary is on Amazon Prime right now and I'm midway through it.

I could never tell if they were true performance artists, in on the joke like Andy Kaufman, and just pulling the wool over our eyes, or were they authentically dumb and doped up and lived the Zef life, or were they a band that was put together by a fashion label or someone else, like what Malcolm Mclaren did for the Sex Pistols.

I'm thinking it might be a little bit of all of that. Anyone else watch this or fascinated by them, in general?

I'm a fan, they're a fun group to listen to... I don't have Amazon prime so I guess I'll have to wait for some ninja to post it online somewhere.

I remember reading that they always planned to quit after 5 albums, so I guess they're honest as long as they don't put out anything else. Pretty ballsy of them to not release their last one in a physical format, they lost a sale here!

It definitely isn’t an act. Didn’t know about the documentary, have to check it out. I’m curious to see how these us shows do, I know they were canceled for a minute and most festivals (here) won’t book them but when these all sell out I think it will change

I like them the same way I like GG Allin or Klaus Nomi & their music is probably the 10th most interesting thing about them. They are playing 2 weeks from tonight in Boston & if I can get a cheap ticket I'll hit it up.
