Does anyone here give a crap that Led Zeppelin ripped off a few songs?

The one that started it all. Spreading gossip and insults since 1998.

I don't. As far as I'm concerned they took some of those songs/ideas and improved them 10 fold. Shitty that they didn't give credit at the time like some other bands did. I guess that is the main issue and why they have got stick from it over the years.

The Stones and a million other bands built entire careers out of stealing Chuck Berry riffs. Everything Zeppelin stole, they improved on. Suck it haters..

Blackmore says they all stole from each other back in the day. "Let's face it, none of us are Mozart."

It’s “John Lennon beat women” stuff. Just trivia for people to throw into conversations to look like they know something.

The list of plagiarists in rock is ENDLESS. Zep got pinched because they sold hundreds of millions of albums. Willie Dixon wanted his taste—who can blame him. But it’s not like they were the only ripoff artists in rock.

It has always been more surprising to me not that ripped off any songs, but that they left those elements in the songs. To me this says they were paying homage more than ripping off.

...which is to say, something like "Whole Lotta Love" bears so little relation to Willie Dixon that if they changed the lyrics, it would have been a completely new work with nobody any the wiser.

Most of their "rip-offs" are like that. Dazed and Confused is the only one that seems like true rip, but David Homes eventually did get a pay-out for it.

I do, only because they were shysters about it and gave lame ass excuses, especially Page re: Jake Holmes. And it's more than "a few." Led Zeppelin 1 is a glorified covers album with "a few" originals.

Borrowing stuff and reworking/making it your own is one thing. Basically recording a cover and not crediting the original writers/musicians is fucking low. Which is why they settled out of court a lot.

This, there's such a spectrum to the whole "rip off/stealing" thing.

Dazed and Confused is a straight up cover.

People apply the same criteria to "oh someone dude played a blues riff that sounds like an old black guy".

And then everything in between.

But people lump it all in as one thing. As if playing music heavily inspired by something else is the same as doing a full on cover and pretend it's not.

It's really hard to lump Zeppelin in with anyone else because it was super unique, IMO, but of course there's so many examples of a riff just straight up being copped but the rest of the song is different.

Zeppelin was so on the nose It's really hard to believe they ever tried to skirt around any of it.

Especially when they were ripping off American blues musicians who they claimed to respect so much but knew were pretty unable to legally do anything about it. Some way to treat your heroes. Whole Lotta Love and The Lemon Song should from the outset been negotiated with Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf rather than make them pay lawyers fees to get what rightfully theirs. That is some Sharon Osborne type shit. And yes, I listened to Zeppelin as much as anyone, but let’s call it what it is.

The Stones didn’t cover Little Red Rooster and Not Fade Away and then pretend they wrote them.

Zeppelin fans act like they were the mothers of invention. When in reality, they were just a group of low rent white boys
wishing they were Howling Wolf and Small Faces.

Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You is also a cover that they originally took credit for.

Plant took enough of Dixon’s lyrics that he should’ve received credit on WLL

He sued them over How Many More Times and won.

Somebody else called Zeppelin shysters on here. That’s exactly what they are.

LOL okay. He’s only considered one of the architects of Chicago Blues.

I like how Plant is always accusing others of ripping him off when he’s about as original as a can of RC Cola

Do not care one bit and always considered people who won’t let it go as stupid.

Just look at Tommy if you don’t believe that theory.
