Erik Gronwall shares demo of song he pitched to SKID ROW
...and it's really fucking good. (I thought "The Gang's All Here" was the best song they'd released in 30 years but was underwhelmed by the rest of the album. This demo, however, is A+++ IMO)

Can’t Kill What’s Dead (Demo 2022)
In August 2022, my producer Jona Tee and I wrote three potential songs for a new Skid Row album while I was still in the band. Although I don’t think this particular song would have made it onto the album, and since that album definitely won’t happen, I thought it might be fun to share this demo with you all instead. Please note that this is a demo Jona and I produced and no Skid Row members are playing on this demo.
(For the uninitiated, Jona is the keyboardist and primary songwriter in H.e.a.t, the Swedish melodic rock band Erik fronted prior to joining Skid Row. It definitely sounds more like a H.e.a.t song than a Skid Row song, but I have no complaints about that)

I love it, he looks like he's doing good. Shame they couldn't just take some time off in order for him to get better, but what do I know, it's easier on the body to do a video than a world tour. I really dug the album and thought a second one would have been even better after time on the road. Glad he got to experience the "dream" because he seems like a good dude.
Re: Erik Gronwall shares demo of song he pitched to SKID ROW
Did they ever actually saw his health had something to do with it, or was it just asumed?thechefs2003 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 12:42 pm I love it, he looks like he's doing good. Shame they couldn't just take some time off in order for him to get better, but what do I know
He has a tour lined up with Michael Schenker, so I'm inclined to think the other Skids are the problem. Again.

It does sound like a cross between HEAT and SR. Not the biggest fan of Heat so this was just Ok to me. Actually sounds more like Bach's Give'em Hell album.Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 9:08 am

Agree that he seems like a good dude, and looks to be way more comfortable being solo. I'd definitely check him out if he came near me. Really like the SR album, but to me, he never seemed to fit.

It's great because it sounds like a H.E.A.T. song.
For at least 10-15 years now, the best 80s rock/metal being written is coming out of Scandinavia.
I've been waiting for one of the washed up O.G. acts to have these guys ghost write their new album, or at least a song or two.
Crashdiet is a good as it fuckin' gets.

I read on another message board, that in the Autobiography that Erik recently wrote, he said that one of the Skid Row guys said "you are dead to me", in response to telling them he was quitting due to his health.

Sounds like a song Kiss would have written in the late 80s doctored up to sound like a Skid Row song.

I’ve heard that Snake and Rachel (him especially) are shitty people. So this checks outWild Obsession wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 2:17 pm I read on another message board, that in the Autobiography that Erik recently wrote, he said that one of the Skid Row guys said "you are dead to me", in response to telling them he was quitting due to his health.

Snake and Rachel never wanted a singer to write with them. That was one of the issues they had with Bach.

Quelle Surprise. I'm so sick of hearing all the bitching about Sebastian. Those guys are their own worst enemy. There's a reason why one of the shows they played with Lzzy was a glorified VFW hall.Wild Obsession wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 2:17 pm I read on another message board, that in the Autobiography that Erik recently wrote, he said that one of the Skid Row guys said "you are dead to me", in response to telling them he was quitting due to his health.

Don't have to split writing checks if you don't let the singer write with you. (insert Eddie Murphy gif)Rocker4Real wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 4:06 pm Snake and Rachel never wanted a singer to write with them. That was one of the issues they had with Bach.

Honestly, nothing puts me off as much as when I hear a non-native speaker trying to sing in perfectly enunciated English. Give me a thick Klaus Meine accent any day over shit like this

Has Dave ever? I always assumed Rachel was the "poet", ala Nikki Sixx, and Dave (and Scotti, to a lesser extent) was the music.Tommy2Tone84 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 8:42 pmRachel and Dave haven’t written a decent lyric since the Clinton Administration

Rachel has said in interviews that he writes most of the lyrics, but some are Snake's. Maybe 20 percent.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:33 amHas Dave ever? Not about the size the venue in this case, it's the fact that they're not getting booked where you expect to see a show. Skid Row might as well have been playing the conference room at the local Holiday Inn with that show.PBFSUCKS wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:41 amYeah, unlike the tiny bar with the pole blocking the view that Bas just played!Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 4:50 pmQuelle Surprise. I mentioned this in another thread, they haven't played a proper Chicago date in SIX YEARS because they can't get booked here.

Re: Erik Gronwall shares demo of song he pitched to SKID ROW
The opening chords into the first chorus are perfect for a Skids song. Hopefully they can give Erik a credit for using such in the next album with Bach.

This song sounds more like a Ghost song than Skid Row to me. This guy’s pipes are great.

I think you’re right to a degree. Rachel wrote the majority of the lyrics. Dave wrote some but more music than not.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:33 amHas Dave ever? I’ve never listened to HEAT. I think I might now because that’s a damn good song.
