Ghost Tour Announcement Tomorrow?

Post by NeonKnite »

There have been multiple posts from venues (i.e. Little Caesars Arena in Detroit) saying 'stay tuned for a special announcement from Ghost'.

Odd wording for a tour announcement but what else could it be.

I love the no phone experience. The only draw back is that you have to wait in line to have someone open the pouch when you leave.

Are these pouches given out at the venue, or something you would have to buy?

At the venue. The "Yondr" team gives you the pouch, you put your phone in said pouch & then they lock it (It's a security lock like on a clothing item at a store). Then, if you want it opened, you have to find the Yondr employee to open it.

So a tour this big certainly means a new album to coincide. I didn't expect one until late 2025. Odd they can't announce the opener, likely a band that's currently touring the States.

I respect the spirit and intent of no cell phones but I have issues.

1. How does the babysitter get a hold of you if junior burns the house down. Are you supposed to head to the concourse every 3 songs to unlock your bag and check?

2. What if the person you are attending with isn’t a big fan and is just there for you. Are they supposed to count cracks in the ceiling? I’m not saying they should be on their phone the entire time but still.

3. So they want to go a cashless all digital monetary system. So at this show you have to mess with a card which means no Apple Pay etc. Or what if you need to check your bank or something or text a friend to find out what shirt they want etc? Having 11,000 fans all trying to unlock their pouches between bands sounds like a shitty time.

4. So I pay $200-300 for a ticket and can’t get a fucking picture of the stage?

5. I’m gonna put my phone into this pouch that has had 300 dirty ass phones in it before me? Gross.

I still want to go and I respect the intent but this isn’t a practical solution in 2024. I guess at the LA shows they filmed you couldn’t even have an Apple Watch.

I’d almost just leave my phone at home but oh I can’t because the stupid tickets are on the phone.

More of the popular bands should do this , great way to make sure the fully invested fans get the tickets , and the rest can stay home and watch clips on their phone .

In the future they could refine the system, so it unlocks the pouch for the last 2 songs .

There used to be a time where smoking was allowed on flights restaurants, bars , but everyone got used to it .

If you can’t go 2 hours out of 720 (in a month) , you are more addicted than you think lol . Myself included, but am willing to make that self sacrifice on occasion.

I'm over 50 years old and definitely NOT a phone guy so I don't really care either way. But Ghost is not a classic rock band with an old fan base. A large percentage of their audience is not middle aged or older. This phone policy will certainly piss off those under 45.

Jack White has had a similar policy in the past but the White Stripes first album came out in 1999, 25 years ago.

IMO Ghost should have used TOOL's phone policy. There's no ban on phones but security strictly enforces a no filming policy during the show, except for the last song where Maynard tells the audience it's okay to take their phones out and film. It works much better if security does their job. They catch people filming and tell them to stop or they'll get thrown out and it works just fine. That way if you need to text somebody or call somebody security doesn't care, as long as you're not filming the band.

If you really want people to stop looking at their phones and watch the show...make the show better!

This nonsense of taking peoples phones just makes the fans resentful and angry.

I am purposely excited for this tour because of this policy. Looking forward to an arena full of people actually watching and being engaged with something.

Tobias said the shows recorded for the film were the best shows he's done since club days with his previous bands because there were no phones.

Honestly if I was a performer, it would likely irritate the shit out of me to look down and see nothing but cameras.

Agreed. All of them are a stretch to complain about something.

1) You can feel your phone vibrate. If you are that concerned about the babysitter burning the house down. Set your phone to DND and let only that number be allowed. When you feel it vibrate you will know for sure your house is gone. If you are checking your phone every three songs to make sure your house didn't burn down. You should use your phone to call an electrician and/or a psychiatrist to get help with this problem.

2) Don't go with someone who doesn't want to go? or say "Hey, I know you hate Ghost so much that the idea of not looking at your phone for 3 hours would be torture and there would likely only be cracks in the ceiling to count but there are no phones allowed, but you should really come anyways!" and then let them decide. The tour is 6 months away. Find someone who is OK without their phone for a few hours or go by yourself.

3) Bring a credit card.

4) Don't pay that much and then look at Ghost's social media once the tour starts. I am sure they will have proshot photos and video to promote the tour. And how many times are you going to look at the incredible picture of the stage that you took from section 112 and say this was totally worth $300!

5) I would never concern myself with shit like that, especially since you are going to an arena filled with 20,000 people. But how about an antibacterial wipe when you get your phone back? Think about all the shit you touch all day and then you grab your phone, do you really think a phone bag is going to any worse? Again, if you are really concerned wipe it down.

Yes you are kind of stupid
When you saw Flesh N Blood tour in 1991 ..everyone survived

Ghost show at Forum was awesome with camera pouch
Hopefully who ever becomes President can make this new law

They done this at smaller venues also..like The Wiltern

Eventually Ticketmaster will have 10$ IPhone pouch charge

There were concerts before mobile phones. Was this a legitimate concern for most people? The tiny off chance there is a medical emergency at home. If the medical emergency is concerning people that much you should probably never leave home.
