Nah. Ticketing fees, VIP, merch cuts, stuff like this is still big on alcohol sales, bonus if they own their own lot. It will still be do good for everyone all around and WASP gets their minimum guarantee. They have shows every night too so it's not like a one off venue rental.

If Live Nation booked the whole tour and not individual deals they just let it ride and the big shows balance out the little ones.
It is Live Nation & it's the same situation for the Boston show, maybe a 1/3 sold. However, thanks to my pal ijwthstd wising me up, I will be on Ticketmaster, Tick Pick & Vivid Seats leading up to the show to score a cheap seat.

Concert goers are older and dying off and the $$ of tickets can be prohibitive

Yeah plus a lot of them already had their mid life crisis and saw these bands. No need to see them again.

The US market always has been the weakest market compared to the European, Asian and Latin countries.
If your "always" begins at 1999, maybe. But in the 80s bands like Ratt, Cinderella and Poison headlined arenas in the US and were openers at best in Europe. Journey were nothing here, and not the 3rd gen bands like Steelheart, Slaughter and Firehouse either. And in the 90s hard rock was dead and ridiculed.

Depends on the band.

Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison, Bon Jovi and Guns N Roses all draw huge crowds in the US. Of course, those were the biggest bands back in the day, so that makes sense.

Bands like Warrant, RATT, Winger, etc. need to create better packages for themselves to draw in a good crowd nowadays.

Warrant and Lita Ford just isn't that big of a deal, but if RATT, Warrant and Winger did a tour together, they'd most likely do some solid numbers.

MetalSludgeCEO wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 6:16 pm The U.S. market for 80's or Hair Metal shows, is definitely different than in South America, or Europe.

I have played more shows in Foreign countries in the last 20 years than in the U.S., or... it's very close to equal and the fan bases is DEF younger abroad!

I can testify, that there is a MUCH younger audience for these shows outside the U.S., than there is here in the states.

I would bet, that more than 50% of those attending, maybe 70%, are in the 30-35 range and a huge number of those are in their 20's and late teens.

Music events in general, are also attended much better outside the U.S. as well, such is the case with events like Wacken in Germany selling 80,000 tix almost instantly when announced.

Wacken 2025 is Sold Out, 85,000 tix gone, and the event is 9 months away! https://www.wacken.com/en/news-details/ ... -sold-out/

Also, this past summer's Sweden Rock, Sold Out many of their categories of tickets by Dec. 2023, a full 6 months in advance. Almost 100,000 people over 3 days.

What about pricing. Is it the same overseas? Do fans get fucked over as hard as they do in the USA?
I'm finding it difficult to masturbate to this. I'm trying, I just have so little to work with...

More so. Pricing in the USA looks really cheap compared to the UK and Canada (countries I've lived in)

Mr Big was selling out the Budokan in Japan in 1993 when they were still playing theaters here.

Queen was selling out stadiums in Europe when their fan base was quickly dwindling here in the States. They didn’t even tour here for The Works and Magic tours.

KISS headlined Rock N Rio with Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr in makeup when they were limping along here in 1983 celebrating their 10th Anniversary to lame, lackluster, downsized crowds. They also headlined arenas and stadiums all over Europe and Oceania in 1980 when all of us fans here were “so over” them because we were too good and way too cool to listen to that Unmasked shite

Most fans are sheep.

It's simple math. The year is almost 2025. Most of these bands were big in the late 80s.
