Talk Talk. That one’s a new wave classic. No Doubt’s version is just horrible. And that W.O.W. “It’s My Life” song is cool, but the best thing she ever did was The Plasmatics’ “The Damned”.

Kiss. And Alban is Swedish not French. Used to run into him all the time in Stockholm 20-25 years ago.

KISS version is not a cover. It is a leftover from Creatures of the Night. Gene had WOW cover it for her solo album he produced. I think the WOW version has more energy but the KISS version is my preferred.

Damn, I really dig the No Doubt version. Surprised (but not surprised) by the hate. But.....Talk Talk for the win here.

Have to agree with you. The original by Talk Talk can't be topped, but I thought No Doubt's version was alright.

"Life's What You Make It" is also an excellent song.

The Gene song sounds a bit unfinished, Paul vetoed it for years. It could have worked as an anthem for the last song on Asylum or Crazy Shytes if they’d improved it a bit. The part after the solo doesn’t work.

He died years ago, and honestly "It's My Life" is poppy garbage compared to their later stuff like Laughing Stock and The Spirit of Eden.

Wasn't he still living in Buttfucksville USA in the 90s? I don't think Dr Alban, Ice MC and that kind of stuff ever made it there.

Love the Talk Talk version (and No Doubt suprisingly did a very credible version).

But as much as I don't really love Bon Jovi, this song slays: it's perfect rock ear candy. extremely well produced and written. I can't deny that.

Don’t care, but I really did just hear it. I think it’s a great song no matter if they recorded 2112 later or whatever.
