Best guitar solo from these ballads

Post by Don't Damn Me »

I built this poll over one amazing guitar solo.
"Wait" is pure mastery, perfection & beauty. It's all tapping, but it goes beyond being a gimmick it's a legitimate approach that couldn't be as melodic any other way

Out of those...Wait. Although, I've never considered that a ballad.

I Remember You is indeed great, but I could do without so many pinch-harmonics. It's his style, but needs to be dialed back here. I don't think it holds up. Alone Again for the win.

None. Of all the stupid hair ballads my favourite solo is Kiss' Forever. Such a tasty little acoustic solo from Bruce.

Wait isn't a ballad.

Home Sweet Home is the best of those. Great theme and a good tone from MIck's guitar (if Mick played that). I long wondered if it might have been Dan Huff or Steve Lukather?

The other really good one there is Wanted Dead Or Alive. One of Richie's best.

What would I add?

Reb Beach - Winger's "Headed For a Heartbreak" on which he conjures Allan Holdsworth

Steve Lukather - Toto's "I Won't Hold You Back"

Neal Schon - Journey's "Faithfully" or "Who's Cryin' Now"

Steve Vai - "For the Love of God"

Brad Gillis - Night Ranger's "Hearts Away"

Prince - "Purple Rain"

Alex Lifeson - Rush's "Ghost of a Chance"

Dokken -Alone Again

The great solo is the icing on the cake , that still never gets skipped when it comes up on my playlist, unlike a number of the others on this list .

“I Remember You” is such a fantastic solo. So much nuance.

“Ballad of Jayne” for its tone. Greet solo!

This. But it's also the best solo of the bunch.
