Come Together - Beatles / Aerosmith

Post by Wild Obsession »

I do my best to avoid the radio, but I swear to god that either bullshit version of Come Together is perpetually on the radio. IMO, it's a filler song for either band, so it blows my mind as to why it's a FM radio "staple".

Metal Edge 87-1992 generation truly saved music

How famous is it?

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

Is it a song about a circle jerk? Aerosmith had more members than the Beatles, so a better bukaki.

I don't think I've ever heard a Come Together cover I really liked.
I think it's because the song is so tightly connected to Lennon's personal psyche, along with simpatico playing by the other Beatles.
Other versions sound lounge-ish or bar band-ish to me instead of heavy and impactful.
Before Lennon got with Yoko, many of his songs sounded okay as covers, but after Yoko, his lyrical and sentimental appoach changed quite a bit.
It's even parodied in the Rutles movie.

As long as I'm learning something, I figure I'm OK - it's a decent day.

I prefer the Aerosmith version. But I'm a huge fan of the Sgt. Peppers movie. Go ahead and laugh. It's fantastic!
I also prefer Motley Crue's version of Helter Skelter. Years ago, Bob Kulick told me this was sacrilege. He was the biggest Beatles fan ever. I miss him.

Sometimes I wish someone would zap all the classic rock songs from my brain so I can go back and experience them the first time again.

Aerosmith's cover is good, but it doesn't come close to the original by the Beatles.
