GTFOH. Bruce couldn't carry Rundgren's guitar strap. Todd is a better singer too. What makes it even funnier is that Weinberg and Bittan played on the record.
Todd sings like a little girl and plays labia lounge music. He makes Steve Perry sound like Tom Araya.

Is there a reason to compare the two? Wikipedia said Rundgren has kids with Springsteen's ex, is that why he's frustrated?

Springsteen isn't holding anyone's strap, that's clear.

Dead Ringer is a really good album (and nice Bernie Wrightson covert art too). Much better than Steinman’s original (meant to be) follow up Bad For Good…and better than anything Meat released the remainder of his career imo. I was always a fan, but his albums were one or two really good songs with a lot of filler after dead ringer.

Oh come on. Dead Ringer is pretty good and arguably overlooked but there’s nothing on there close to the highs of Bat2. Or probably Bat3.

While I haven't listened in a while, I would bet I could singer every lyric to every song on the 1st take.

As for your question... well, it's obvious you don't "get it" but according to the rest of the world, we do! Congrats, you are in the teeny tiny minority here.

It's certified 14x Platinum in the U.S.A., and 26x Platinum in Australia. Along with 11x in the U.K., 17x in New Zealand and Double Diamond in Canada!

Not too mention, a grip of awards and plaques from other countries, various Entertainment Industry outlets & more!

It's listed as the 6th best selling recorded music release of all time, behind "Thriller", "Back In Black", "Dark Side of the Moon" and a few others.

I love this album!
I could also sing it in full!
Here's a fun fact that I didn't know before 2006 or so. Bob Kulick played on that album. Now maybe everyone knew that, but I didn't, he never mentioned it in all the years I knew him before that.
He had the gold and platinum albums on his studio walls.

Maybe he never mentioned he played on it because he didn’t play on it.

Bob and Bruce toured for it.

Bob played on some other later Meat Loaf albums, but he’s not on Bat Out Of Hell.

loved "Bat" and most of the Meat Loaf albums.

it was one of the few albums that me and my Dad could agree on.

it's weird, while I dug the singles, I never got into the album as a whole until the Summer of 1986 - almost 10 years after it was released - when I found the cassette in a pawn shop. pretty much defined those few months of my life. when I listen to those songs, it brings me right back.

always thought it was awesome that he had a resurgence seven years later with "Bat II", which was great, but I always preferred the third installment.

Rilly?

It is about escaping hell on a motorcyle.

The album cover is a pretty literal depiction of the lyrics of the song.

You’re looking at it through the filter of knowing what cheesy 80s and 90s metal albums looked like. If anything, they stole it from this.

nah, it came out in 1977. There were plenty of heavy rock records out.
Not gonna argue with anyone who thinks that cover represents the gay born to run rocky horror music within

daveg wrote: Mon Dec 02, 2024 8:41 am Big fun album that appealed to just about everyone. Might not have been heavy enough for the rockers, but 2 out of 3 was always the last song at the school dance, and back then it was good enough to cop a feel of a girls ass...probably for the first time...that was good enough for me.

Go to a wedding now...or a bar that plays Paradise. Everyone of all ages knows the boy/girl part.

Bigger question..and I've asked this before..is how to you have one of the biggest selling albums of all time, then the follow up doesn't go gold. Figure you would have got 1 million people buying it regardless.
Bat out of Hell was dated as fuck by the time I was in Junior High, but they would still play Paradise at the dances, the assistant Gym Teacher and the special needs Teacher would get up on the stage and act out/lip sync the boy/girl part, it was "cringe", I still get "douche chills" thinking about it...........

But look at the covers of the pre-1977 heavy rock records. I can only think of a few that had a comic book style, action packed fantasy cover.
Kiss's Destroyer and, stretching it a bit, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
70s heavy rock albums looked like early Deep Purple, Bad Company, UFO and Alice Cooper.
Not Iron Maiden, Motörhead or Manowar.

I had all their CDs. I donated them to a music academy that teaches kids and helps them form bands.

Here's an "unfinished" song written by Moe that Todd wrote lyrics and additional music for.

That’s ok. Neither did John Sykes

Kidding aside, I’ve heard the earth is flat and that maybe Oswald didn’t really shoot Kennedy.
Just because some morons spew it doesn’t mean it’s true. But you do you.

I hardly worship Springsteen but I have to give respect where respect is due.

Todd Rundgren made Journey sound like Sabbath.
