That was Living Colour's Stain tour, which was appropriately named.

Never knew who opened for Crabby Crue, but most of those dates got canceled or downsized, so it wouldn't surprise me that they tacked on openers to keep the gigs viable.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

They were trying to get the Ramones and Butthole Surfers but that would have been a demotion for those 2 bands. On the west coast it was Gilby Clarke.

Yeah shit in '94 either of those bands would've easily been billed above the Crabfest.

I'd like to time travel back to 1994 and tell Nikki Sixx the most relevant thing Motley Crue will do in the next 30 years is tour with Poison and Def Leppard.

Nikki Sixx would probably like to time travel back to 92 and beg Vince to stay.

What sort of touring did Slaughter do in support of The Wild Life? I know they lost a lot of momentum. All I recall is they were to open for Ozzy. Was that in arenas? Did they go ahead and just headline theatres or anything?

They did a leg opening for Damn Yankees (another demotion from previous tours) and a smattering of headline shows including McNichols Arena Denver 12/31/1992 but I think it sorta sputtered out after that.

I never liked Slaughter, so I dont know what happened with them. Was their second album a dud? Did they break up after?

The Ozzy show I seen with slaughter was in a summer shed. Ugly Kid Joe was the first band on that bill.

Oct 10 1994 Aerosmith/Collective Soul Lawlor Events Center, Reno

Oct 12 1994 Aerosmith/Collective Soul Thomas & Mack Arena, Las Vegas

(went with my cousin, met 1 Aerosmith fan Becky at these shows, lost touch a few years later, went with my cousin to both shows, first time flying to gigs, the whole trip was a lot of fun, 8,000 people in Reno make a much better crowd than 27,000 in Devore a few days later)

Oct 19/21 1994 Rolling Stones/Red Hot Chili Peppers/Buddy Guy Rose Bowl

This was before I could just look up the setlist on the internet and it totally blew my mind when they pulled out my all time favorite song "Rocks Off." Dec 29 1994 Cheap Trick/Van Gogh's Daughter House Of Blues (helped VGD carry amps in)

Jan 30 1995 Motley Crue/Billy Idol Club Shelter Billy Idol's band was Steve Stevens, Duff McKagen and Matt Sorum

This was a few months after the ill-fated tour with John Corabi ended and was to be the last show with him.

I look in the LA Weekly the Thursday it came out and almost missed the
small ad - Club Shelter in Pasadena, Motley Crue and friends, some sort of benefit for a roadie who ran over his own kid. Doors at 7:00.

Even though I really liked this incarnation and wanted to see the band, I really wasn't feeling it (I didn't go to many around this time). I was in no hurry to get there and figure if I am too late I could hit some of the local record stores. Get there at 8:30. No line, club is still dead empty.

At one point I realize it's Nikki Sixx on the balcony in front of me. He is walking around the club and no one is swooping down on him. A few unremarkable bands of various genres (I think I remember a soul/gospel ish act playing) play. Then a surprise appearance by Billy Idol with Steve Stevens, Matt Sorum and an emaciated and unrecognizeable Duff
McKagan. They do Communication Breakdown, Shakin' All Over, Paranoid and Rebel Yell.

I just have to laugh to myself and think if this gig was 5 years earlier it could have been held down the street at the Rose Bowl.

Motley Crue finally takes the stage. The club is no longer empty but I have plenty of elbow room. They play Shout At The Devil and Hammered,
unfortunately the only MC '94 song of the night. Then they bring out
special guest Dannyboy of House Of Pain to join them for Livewire. He sings backups and at the end of the song stagedives. Which you can't really do on a thirty something burnout crowd late on Monday night. He
immedietly gets dropped and disappears from view before ending up on stage and storming off.

Then they do Home Sweet Home without the piano. The dude from House Of Pain comes back out onstage toward the end and heads right toward John Corabi. John is holding him back with his hand on his chest and
looking at him intently as he hums out the last part of the song then surrenders the mic. Dannyboy starts cursing out the crowd because when he stagedived his wallet got stolen.

The last song of the short 30 min set is Primal Scream. They walk offstage through the crowd and right after Tommy leaps off (the last of the 4 to do so) he appears to get in some sort of angry confrontation
with someone in the crowd before his own security intervenes and drags him off.

I still remember this night vividly and it's still my favorite Motley Crue show.

Oct 14 1995 Lucid Nation/Tummyache at Cobalt Cafe

Oct 19 1995 David Bowie/Nine Inch Nails/Prick Thomas & Mack Arena, Las Vegas
(first, and still the best David Bowie show I have ever seen. Love the Outside album and was totally blown away by all the awesome obscure album tracks that filled out the rest of the set)

(Clem Burke played drums for the Plimsouls)

Jan 13 1996 The Humpers Record Release Party Long Beach
(2 sets, first set complete "Live Forever Or Die Trying" minus "You Drive Me Bats," 2nd set older songs)

June 8 1996 The Humpers/Bottom Feeders Viper Room
(Legendary drunken train wreck show. Ken All Nite Rocker crawled out his wheelchair and tackled guitarist Mark Lee who fell over into the amps. Security saw it and ran toward the stage and right into his wheelchair. He just put the wheelchair to the side and Ken enjoyed the rest of the show onstage sitting up against the amps)

June 15 1996 KROQ Weenie Roast (KISS/Lush/Garbage/311/Red Hot Chili Peppers and more that I don't even remember, KISS's first reunion show with a few pyro accidents)

June 19 1996 Scorpions/Alice Cooper/some other band Universal Amph
(It was totally sold out when I got there. Someone who worked at the movie theatre brought me into the projection room and sold me a pit wristband for $20. Slash joined Alice for "Only Women Bleed" and "Lost In America.")

June 20 1996 Alice Cooper/NY Loose Ventura Theatre
(Had no idea NY Loose was going to be there until I ran into them outside. Gary was replaced by Mark Diamond. Made the trip totally worth it. Still my favorite Alice show too, much longer set than the night before with a lot of rarities thrown in like "Clones" and "Teenage Lament.")

Troubadour (last LA show, Andy hung out with the fans for a long time, got a bunch of stuff signed, PLEASE COME BACK, met and hung out with Dan Clements from Excel before the show when he saw my Devo T shirt, got a Goldenvoice rep to give him free tickets, told some good Devo stories and later on sent me some Excel stuff)

Aug 25 KISS Forum
(both KISS shows for a total of $10, I still wasn't used to $85 arena shows but did pretty well in the parking lot)

^^^^ some of the best shows ever, Candy Snatchers totally ruled, Throw Rag released "She Devil Woman" from the Clipper on a split 45 single with the Starvations as well some stage banter on their debut CD "Tee Tot." Nov 15 1996 Dickies/Humpers/Throw Rag/Trick Babys Moguls

Dec 8 1996 NY Loose/Lyme Troubadour
(Lyme later became known as Other Star People, with Jennifer Finch formerly of L7, last NY Loose show in L.A. before breaking up. Food drive show)

Ha.

That Trick tour from 96 was indeed great, I saw them for free at a riverfront club in DE that doesn't exist anymore.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

ijwthstd true to form comes in and annihilates the competition.

1994

James Taylor, Irvine Meadows

1995

Green Day, Pond in Anaheim

1996

Alanis, Irvine Meadows
STP, Irvine Meadows

That’s age 10-12, was slowly revving up the concert attendance engine at the time.
