Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction From The 1950s!
I don't know how they do this AI stuff but this is pretty incredible. This is Appetite if it was recorded in the 1950s. It's interesting to hear how much the songs hold up to that style of music. I think I'd actually buy this if you could. Merry Christmas!

Cool. Bet it'd be even funnier in the style of disco.

Meh. It's just different songs with the same lyrics. They've stripped the melodic hooks, harmonic content and feel.
Low-effort shit.
Low-effort shit.

Wait...why do you want me to suck a cock?
Do you feel you may be a wizard with some sort of magical powers, and if so, then why on earth would you manifest them with something so pedestrian as just commanding people to be gay?
Is this like a THING with you? Does it makes you turgid?
Wouldn't you want wealth or love or, I dunno, even a nicer pair of shoes?
Seems like a disturbing way to go with magical powers...did your uncle fuck you or something? Is there a piece missing? Daddy's love? Mommy's attention?
...or is this one of those: "I, for one, welcome our new AI overlords" simping things?

I feel the same. I’ve heard a bunch of these and I want to like them, but the music sounds nothing like the originals, just the same lyrics.

I mean, I agree, but supposedly having that opinion means you should eat a cock or vag, depending on which Oglaf-level sex wizard is trying to command you that day...so watch yourself.

Go figure, something that's supposed to sound like it was recorded in the 1950s doesn't sound anything like something recorded in 1987! Let me go clutch my pearls.

There's a lot of dumb takes on this board but this one might win. It's not supposed to sound the fucking same! That's the point. Holy shit.
Re: Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction From The 1950s!
Yeah, but the idea is that it should be THE SAME SONG, just reinterpreted.
These bear no resemblance to the GNR songs. They are completely new songs written around the GNR lyrics.
For the idiots: a song is composed of several elements. Lyrics can be one of them, but the others are the melody, chord progression and arrangement.
In this case, ONLY the lyric has been kept.
It's like, I GET it, if you want to say: GNR only in the fifties, then do a song liiiiike Sweet child of mine. Keep the hooks, melody and chord progression, but maybe have a sax do the guitar hook. Have the same melody line, but an Elvis-ish voice. Do the chords with a rockabilly-style guitar or piano.
This isn't difficult, there are plenty of songs that have had versions done in different decades that are demonstrably the same songs aside from certain sounds.
These are not that.

No one is clutching any pearls, just people like you getting butthurt over an opinion. You can take the riff and play it in a different style and instrument, but you can still recognize it. These AI songs don’t even try.VinceVanLane wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 12:49 pmGo figure, something that's supposed to sound like it was recorded in the 1950s doesn't sound anything like something recorded in 1987! Big Bopper vibes during the "why don't you just, Fuck off" part of It's So Easy.
Re: Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction From The 1950s!
You’re missing the point and I totally agree with Sleek. Taking generic “country” or “oldies” and just replacing the lyrics is completely uninteresting. Ever hear those mixes where they actually make the original songs into versions recorded in a different genre? Those are creative and usually pretty cool. These full albums that are not actually the original songs AT ALL are just lame. Melodies and chord progressions do matter. Go figure.VinceVanLane wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 12:49 pmGo figure, something that's supposed to sound like it was recorded in the 1950s doesn't sound anything like something recorded in 1987! You realize this is the Metal Sludge Gossip Board where people have talked shit and insulted each other's opinions for over 20 years, right? I'm not butthurt in the slightest because I don't know you and don't care about your incorrect opinion.Zabooka wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 2:42 pmNo one is clutching any pearls, just people like you getting butthurt over an opinion. It's not an incorrect opinion. If you just listen to the music without the vocals, you wouldn't know what song that was supposed to be. How is that making it sound like what the song would sound like if it was recorded in the 50's? You could interchange all the vocals with all the music and it wouldn't sound any different.VinceVanLane wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 12:16 pmYou realize this is the Metal Sludge Gossip Board where people have talked shit and insulted each other's opinions for over 20 years, right? I already know what 50's music sounds like. Getting some generic 50's music that completely ignores the riffs, then singing Welcome to the Jungle over it is not a good example of what the song would sound like in the 50's.
This is what this AI stuff should aim for.

The music tells you it's still the same song, but it's played in a Jazz/Swing/Big Band style. The AI stuff misses the mark.

Agree with this being low effort. Anything can sound like the 50's if you play the same 4 chord structure and sing an oldies melody.
