There's a thread over at Kissfaq about worst songs being the single. Seems to be a theme for Kiss, Calling Dr. Love, Is That You, Killer, Lick It Up, I Just Wanna and Thrills in the Night seem mostly disliked to name a few.

It was a teen comedy that came out about hard rock/heavy metal music in the mid to late 90s when any traditional hard rock and heavy metal that wasn't downtuned 7 string guitars was the most uncool thing in the world to teenagers. You could also make the argument that Edward Furlong's career was pretty much toast at that point, but I just looked and I guess I'd be wrong because American History X was around the same time and that movie did pretty well.

Sarcasm doesn't always work in writing. Nobody remembers the movie but every self respecting Kisstard knows the DRC single with the stupid edit bombed until DJs started flipping it to play Beth.

That movie is absolutely hilarious, and fun to watch. It’s as good as Dazed and Confused.

As an actual ‘70s kid, DAZED AND CONFUSED seemed totally authentic and was a fantastic movie with a great story line full of really strong characters. It has the same authentic feeling as American Graffiti did for that era. The main kid reminded me a lot of myself at that age although I have an older brother instead. Ben Affleck and the older guys could totally have been guys my brother knew in high school. Parker Posey’s few scenes alone are worth the price of admission and Matthew McConaughey , who was barely supposed to be in it, steals every scene he is in.

On the other hand, DRC seemed like it was written by someone who watched a movie about the ‘70s, shoe-horned old-KISS into it and expected a hit. The movie was barely watchable even as a life-long KISS fan. The characters are paper-thin to annoying and are all goofy stereotypes. That stoner guy is right up there with Jar Jar for worst movie characters of all time. Just throwing a bunch of old posters on the wall doesn’t make something feel real at all. I watched it at the theater, bought the DVD like a good little fan and never watched it.

Loved the film! Especially the opening credits scene with "Love Gun" blasting and late 1970's pop-culture images such as Sigmund the Sea Monster, Charlie's Angels, etc. flashing across the screen.

This has been on my "to watch" list for a long time. I think I'll finally watching it.

Without having seen it, I wasn't surprised it bombed when it came out. I remember thinking at the time that the generational timing was terrible.

I don't think a "movie about Kiss" was ever going to crossover to younger generations and the 40 ish yeah olds who were their wheelhouse as fans were also in their prime "don't really watch movies" years.

A great movie? No. A deep, poignant, coming-of-age tale of misguided youth? No.

A fun, simple, made-to-be-stupid comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously? Yes.

It’s a great “70ish” movie. I have watched it many times and growing up during that time. KISS that was big here in the midwest

I thought a lot of it was hilarious. Didn't it come out when Kiss had just done their reunion and were riding pretty high?
