ICE T: Heated confrontation during traffic stop

VIDEO: https://youtu.be/a1BVjxTRkm0

Ice-T had a heated confrontation with a cop that escalated to the point the rapper called the officer a "f**king a**hole."

The incident went down in New Jersey last May, but the body cam vid was just released.

It begins with the officer having just pulled Ice over for expired plates ... expired since 2021! Ice-T tells the cop he was actually on his way to the DMV to make things current, but the officer challenged him, asking, "Do you have an appointment?" Ice's reply ... "I don't need one. They know me."

Things got heated quickly. The cop said he was going to tow the Porsche, and Ice responded, "If I'm not under arrest, I'm getting out of the car. Give me my paperwork you f**king a**hole. Give me my f**king paperwork!"

By this time Ice is out of the car and acknowledges the officer's body cam, saying "Get this on camera. This muthaf**ker ... I'm a foot away from the DMV. You're an a**hole!"

Now, a sergeant shows up and is pretty friendly with Ice. Nevertheless, Ice was written up -- he got FOUR tickets. The sergeant kinda apologizes, telling Ice-T he tried to get the patrol officer to only write 2 tickets, but ultimately it was the officer's call.

The officer then handed Ice-T his keys back, and said, "Just show some respect," to which Ice fired back -- "I don't have to."

Driving an unregistered vehicle with an expired license. He's not above the law.

Quite ironic since he plays the law on L&O: SVU.

He was like 100 feet away from the DMV and clearly headed there based on all his paperwork in the folder.

Seems like the cop could have just had him leave it parked and walk over to the DMV.

The crime had been committed, no one got hurt.
Leaving it parked or towing it makes no difference at that point.

I don't think Ice was being a dick. He could have just let him walk over and register it and renew his license.

In my opinion he didn't get upset until the cop told him he was going to tow the car and wouldn't just let him walk over to the DMV.

Ice T obviously should have taken care of that stuff earlier, but why threaten to tow a guy's car instead of following him to the DMV just a couple of minutes away? He could have given him a couple of tickets - that would have been totally fair, I think - but the threat to tow wasn't necessary and escalated things. That didn't need to happen. And, yes, Ice T could have handled the exchange with a little more class and maturity.

Maybe he wasn’t a fan of Ice T.s work with Body Count ? When you release a song like “Cop Killer” , it’s not unreasonable to expect some pushback from the Police . Or maybe this cop was just an asshat.

Does it matter if you're almost there? I'm sure a cop in my town would do the same thing if he saw me a couple blocks away from the DMV. He wanted special treatment as a celebrity. He said the people at the DMV know me. Rappers can get away with that arrogance. Hip-hop privilege.

I don't know the US system but in the UK if your vehicle's annual MOT certificate has expired you are still allowed to drive it directly from wherever it's been stored to the place that is doing this year's test. It's only illegal if you're driving it anywhere else. Whether you could get away with a car that hadn't been re-certified for 3 years is another matter, unless it had been officially declared to the licencing authority as 'permanently off the road' in the interim.

But this story sounds more like police officers laying a trap outside the DMV office to catch people who are *almost there* and who would have been driving legally a few minutes later (depending on queueing time), just so they can artificially bump up their figures and get to play their usual power-trip games rather than doing anything actually helpful to society.

In my opinion it does. He could literally see the building and could just leave the car where it was and walk. So being almost there does matter. As does his intent. He wasn't stopped and had no idea the car was unregistered and he was just driving around. He was on his way to fix it.

I don't think he wanted special treatment for being a celebrity, but rather for being 100 feet away from the building and that is why he was there in the first place.

Should he be driving without a license and an unregistered car?, no. But if there was ever a case to just let the guy walk and register his vehicle and renew his license this was it. Maybe even give him a ticket. But the tow seems like a dickhead move.

Now Ice has to collect the car from the impound and drive to the DMV again.
If this cop is as smart as me, he can park himself by the DMV office and get Ice-T everytime he tries to fix this expired plates issue. Over and over again.

He isn't as smart as me, though. That's why he's a fucking copper.

I love how a Portuguese and a German (DITD) post better than most mother-tongue English speakers here. Including me.

CR07 is still cheating scum though.

I'm sorry, I'm drawing a blank here. who is DITD?
The only German that comes to mind is SebastianLeeDanzig. That guy was a multilinguist genius, for sure. He was also an accomplished cunnilinguist, at least according to all the trans women from Berlin.

He holds the #1 spot for the most most punchable face, as far as I'm concerned. I want bad things to happen to him.

I'd sooner see our National team lose rather than win because of him. I want to see him miss blatant chances to score, and score own goals just so people hate him as much as I do.

I don't think his ho is marriage material either.

I lived in NJ for 0ver 40 years before I left that shit hole. Believe me the cops there are scumbags.
They love to lie in wait to set people up for revenue for the tiniest infraction. They act like Nazis and take their jobs and authority WAY too seriously.

Of course he could have, or he thought it was no big deal and would just handle it himself in the easiest way possible.

And the probably of him driving for years really doesn't mean anything to the point at hand. He literally could have been driving for the first time in 3 years as well.

And again, give him a ticket for unlicensed and unregistered but there was no need to tow it when the DMV is in spitting distance and clearly his intent was to handle that shit right before he got pulled over. The cop was just busting balls.

There's no reason for that kind of language. T just played his "role" perfectly. Just be civil. Offer to park the car and walk over. But, nope, gotta be the stereotypical A-hole. Breaking multiple laws... and still playing the victim.
