My Life On the Road - Jason Green

Post by ParaDime77 »

Man, I’m late to the party on these tour vlogs. Truly shows the very unglamorous side of being part of a group, whether it be manager or musician. Slogging it out in small airports, weather delays, dated hotels and small venues/clubs. I imagine everyone is being paid somewhat decent to carry on this nomadic lifestyle. It’s a very fun watch!

I sampled a few. They're definitely fun to watch.

Pretty interesting stuff. At least to me. As a complete music outsider I love watching this stuff. I know he can't talk about money, but I wish he could. I am interested in contracts and how the shows are pay structured.

I have been preaching about Jason Green's podcast for a few years now...

He's a good friend, and his stuff is great!

His interviews are very well done and his Live episodes are awesome too!

Kudos to Jason.

Since Covid, ALL of the guarantees are up. Way up... TUFF has had some of our biggest ever paydays in the last 2-3 years and we're bottom tier from the era!

No I will not share what I do know... but... I can assure you, most if not ALL of these (80's) bands are making way more money than you might think.

Is he even in any of these road reports? It looks like he only shows up right before they hit the stage.

I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Stephen is in a few of them, but to your point, seems like he is mostly seen at pre-show signings and the show itself. I mean he is the reason for these gigs.

I started at the beginning and really digging in in spite of the sometimes slow pace.

Scott Coogan got Covid and was replaced on drums by Pearcy's petsitter but the big unanswered question is did Pearcy find someone else to feed the cats?

In alternate universe Jason Green and Johnny Monaco could star in a Life On The Road buddy style sitcom. He was the star of the M3 episode.

Also is "Don't eat fish on the road because you might get sick" actually a thing? The buffet at Mohegan Sun the first thing I saw was the cracker topped cod and thought I could dig some of that right now. But I can pretty much eat anything.

Johnny and Jason go see Alanis and possibly expose her lip syncing scam

At first I could t wrap my head around if Johnny Monaco was completely insufferable, but after watching a few episodes the guy is a total character. The whole group of guys seem to all work well together and Stephen is largely kept to his own space.

I'm watching all of Jason's videos and am laughing my ass off. I think he and Monaco are brilliant together....a perfect give and take.
I'm getting memories of folks, venues and even saw some road cases stenciled with the name of a backline rental company I did some work for. The videos really bring back memories of sights, sounds, smells and (speaking for myself) hangovers.

I just sent a link for the Grants N.M. clusterfuck gig to the owner of a large sound company. He'll get a kick out of it.
Too bad they weren't booked to play in the ballroom @ the hotel they stayed in. That place DOES occasionally book national rock acts.

As long as I'm learning something, I figure I'm OK - it's a decent day.
