Was Pophouse buying the rights to the KISS brand a smart move?
So, Pophouse bought the rights to the KISS brand.
More than a year later there have been little to no action at all.
Some nice m&g photos of the Pophouse’s bosses together with Gene & Paul and a few interviews that have revealed nothing. Is it the most expensive VIP package ever?
Like a double platinum VIP version of Gene’s vault.
Buy the rights to KISS and get the contract delivered in person.

The avatar idea is worthless.
If they try to do a licensed tribute band it will flop
Maybe the catalog will be worthwhile in the long run, but I doubt it.
If they were stupid enough to think the fans wanted comic book avatars, then their judgment on what it’s worth is probably equally flawed

Nope. G & P just found another sucker to bleed dry.

Even if the avatar stuff is as mind-blowing as G&P hypes it up to be, will it be worth it when it finally debuts? I don't even understand how or why the ABBA thing is successful, but at least ABBA has had great success with the Mama Mia franchise and stayed relevant that way. We don't know 100% what the KISS thing will look like, but if it's the video game character shit, I don't even know if die-hards will care that much. What they should have done is recreate iconic KISS concerts like Winterland Ballroom '75 or Houston '77 etc... I don't know, but it'll be interesting to see the response if/when they launch it.

This!
End thread
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

It reminds me of 3D TV and the Dio hologram puppet thing
In other words it's a scam ... or clever marketing, however you want to look at it.

This will end up being just another line item on a corporations tax write off...as a loss.

I wouldn't call Pophouse's bosses (ABBA's) Björn Ulvaeus and (EQT CEO) Conni Jonsson suckers, they have a pretty good track record making money from all sorts of things. This could be their one big failure, but I don't know. Maybe we don't see the big picture the way they do. Just because they previewed the avatars at MSG doesn't mean they see them as their main revenue stream. Maybe the most visual one and one they could show and talk about at that time.

There are other bosses taking care of business.

I don't think KISS is eternal as a brand. Yes, they merch'd the hell out of the world for 50 years, but I don't believe it is sustainable (like the Beatles). Honestly, I don't know why Beatles stuff is still so popular. Anyway, seeing Bruce and his band do deep cuts on YouTube is kinda cool, but the general public and maybe nutswingers (except those KISSFAQ rubes) aren't going to be interested in merch or a hologram show. Aside from chatter on this board and garbage like Branvold's podcast, I think the ship has sailed already.

Most KISS fans will watch the Avatars on youtube once and be done with it for good. The Avatars will fail very quickly. It will be funny to watch!!

Tommy Thayer is in Stockholm right now. Some fan met him not far from Pophouse's office and posted a pic. Tommy told him he was here to work on the avatars.
