Also, someone explain to me how Fred is doing so well as a composer, and they couldn't use him in the studio to play drums?

He wasn't in the band when they recorded Night Songs, and wasn't experienced enough to handle drumming on the Long Cold Winter. Based on various comments over the years. I could have sworn I heard Tom Keifer say Fred was "intimidated" by the producer-that would either have been from the Heartbreak Station video tape or one of those Hard N' Heavy tapes.

Fred can still be a good composer and be bad at playing to a click track in the studio. Two different skills. I've heard he played all of Heartbreak Station though.

Depends on if you mean originally or after they reunited. After they reunited, Jeff apparently became a drunk at some point, which led to him ultimately passing, but before that, they were apparently booked on one of the Cruise gigs, and he was in such bad shape that Tom was basically like "Fuck this", and decided he was just gonna go about it alone.

That's the time where LaBar was so drunk after a cruise show he was at one of the ship's bars and he fell over and passed out from alcohol poisoning.
He always had a drug problem starting with coke. Then, he graduated to heroin. After that, pills and booze.
I heard a story that Keifer thought LaBar being drunk all the time made Cinderella look unprofessional.
LaBar also stood in for a Skid Row member once. He was supposed to play like 3 months to end a tour until the band member's arm healed or some shit.
But LaBar being LaBar got too drunk on the second show and fell of the stage at that gig too. So, he was fired.
LaBar once said in an interview that Keifer wouldn't return his phone calls and that nobody in Nashville (where they both lived) would hire him due to him being unreliable from drinking. Another problem I heard was that everybody hated LaBar's fat second wife. So, that must have caused some tension as well.
Unfortunately, he ended up being a line cook at a Claim Jumpers restaurant and later died from a heart attack brought on by his alcoholism.
In essence, he got very lucky, had it all, and then pissed it all away.

I read once that Andy Johns the producer thought Coury didn't have the chops and didn't have the patience to wait for him to catch up.

thanks for responses. I meant when Tom broke up the band and went solo. I remember Jeff's substance abuse being an issue. Tom has not had a great solo career like Bret Michaels has. He puts on a good solo show the one time I saw him and has some good solo songs, but he wrote all the music and lyrics for Cinderella he should tour with the other 2 living members and a guitar player for the member who is deceased. In terms of money there are so many people in Tom's solo band he'd probably make at least as much money playing better venues and higher up on bills with Cinderella, I would think more. Eric and Fred seem easy to get along with and are not addicts, get any good guitar player and touring as Cinderella makes more sense to me. They were a great band; they should still tour some while they are all healthy enough. He could pull a Bret or Vince if he really wants to still play solo shows but play in Cinderella still.

Some people on FB have suggested they get LaBar's son Sebastian to take his father's place and do a tour. He does look just like his
father and his playing style is very similar.

I liked Claim Jumper the two times I went there. Unfortunately the one near me shut down. I think they're all out west now.

Jeff had such a great sense of humor, and some of my favorite memories with Jeff are just kind of cutting up together on the bus. We were both big movie fans and could quote pretty much all our favorite movies. And we'd sit in the front lounge and quote 'Arthur' and 'The Big Lebowski' and 'Caddyshack'.

The Big Lebowski came out in 1998. They weren't riding tour buses then... were they even together?

First and only time I saw them was 1998, they had a bus.

I don't know how Tom would be making more money solo. He has like 18 people in his touring band. That's gotta cost to haul around.

Honestly it was a combo of things everyone has said
-Keifer's voice
-Labar's substance abuse but I will say when I did comedy in Nashville at Zanies he was there with Mark Slaughter and I could tell he was in very good spirits and a good place
-Coury makes a fortune scoring tv shows so he has no need for tour dollars and his wife is a working actress
-and the initial breakup was probably due to grunge and sinking album sales
-MTV stopped playing their videos

Too bad as I thought they were a cut above from most of the other bands but all good things come to an end.
