Yeah once grunge hit all that was cleared out.woblinweebles wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 4:23 pmI loved the General Store, that's where we would get concert tickets and discounted band shirts for around $5. I moved away from NM for a few years and when I went back to visit in the mid 90s, it seemed like they got rid of most, if not all of, the music stuff.King_Nothing wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:19 am Hastings started out in Coronado Center Mall in Albuquerque and then moved to a location as big as Tower Records. It was every bit as cool as Tower.
The General Store had all the tapestries, bluelight posters, pins, etc. but that wasn't at a mall.

Best place near me was in a small strip mall and it was Rockit Records in Nashua, NH. It was the best store and had everything. They also had a calendar right as you walk in that had all the new release dates on it. I miss it dearly!

I forgot about Rockit, I would go to the one in Saugus. Greater Boston had tons of record stores, both chains & independent, & most all had tshirts, clothes, accessories etc. of some sort. There was a place called "Stairway to Heaven" (you had to walk downstairs as it was in the basement level) in downtown Boston & they had all the Heavy Metal stuff.Nobodyspecial wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 5:20 am Best place near me was in a small strip mall and it was Rockit Records in Nashua, NH.
