Bands you liked as a kid ….

But can’t listen to now.

Twisted Sister and Quiet Riot for me. If they come up on XM, I can’t change the channels fast enough.

How about you?

Twisted Sister indeed. But by the time they played here in 86 it was over and I never got into them again.

Liked an album or two each by Helloween, Krokus and Exciter too for a short time in the 80s. Now I wouldn't notice if those bands didn't exist.

Gonna have to be the Vinnie Vincent Invasion for me. Even at the time it was challenging, but now, I just can't

I was going to say Trixter but just to be sure I put on "One in a Million" and I gotta say... it's not a bad jam, boys.

Ah. I got one. PEARL JAM.

As a teenager I loved Pavement but if you put them on now, it would mean nothing to me. I don't dislike them, but it would like someone putting on Taylor Swift or something--I'd just tune it out.

Pavement. Pearl Jam...

Extreme.

Although they were never my favorite band, I liked them enough to get the first three albums and see them live. Now, they are a sure-fire skip.

Iron Maiden. I don’t like the sound of Bruce’s voice and they’re very very corny

Up the Irons before and after and whatnot, but I got into Maiden during the No Prayer/FOTD era.

I remember hearing Powerslave and earlier material and thinking analogously. That shit ain’t no “Mother Russia.”

Seeing Kim Gordon at Fire Aid reminded me that this is pretty much how I feel about Sonic Youth now.

Most overrated band of all time.

As a 10 yr old in 1976, KISS was the only thing that mattered until 1997-Y2K.

Once I got to high school, it was Motley, WASP, Rick Springfield, and some of the UK new wave bands. Rock bands were still first. I don’t listen to many of the rock bands from that time anymore.

I’ve left all the rock bands behind and developed more eclectic tastes. Since I have a couple HomePods in my home office, I will even mix it up with Smooth Jazz radio and Meditation new age stuff. It’s good for the nerves during work.

Slaughter: It's interesting how my perception of voices changed over time. I remember as a child being amazed by Mark's voice, but listening to him now, it sounds terrible. Whatever the reason, the way I hear his voice today is a stark contrast to those early memories.

By the way the Slaughter from Canada is still amazing

I started getting into music properly when I was about 12, starting with Dire Straits then U2. I can't think of anything I enjoyed back then that I don't still enjoy, even the pop music. I lost interest in U2 after Achtung Baby but still play older songs occasionally. Maybe it helps that I rarely listen to radio, and especially not rock radio.

I got into The Cure for about 6 months when I was 19 then got bored and never went back, except that A Forest is still good. But that's hardly "liked as a kid".

Bands awesome- been walking around last 2 hours listening to them- probably going to Yum Yum Donuts later

Gunther is scared- he can’t compete with the encore Yeet tonight
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

I loved the first Belladonna-era Anthrax records back in the day, but nowadays it takes a lot of effort to listen any of them through.

Queen is another one, I got into them hugely after Mercury's death and the tribute concert, heard enough of them then and so far there's been zero desire to revisit them again.
In Finland we have this thing called "Reilu Meininki".

Was thinking about Maiden too, they went from a top 5 band to a band I barely listen to. But Killers, Number and Piece are too good for them to be mentioned along with Krokus and Twisted.

Pavement is still one of my favourite bands. I used to listen to Beastie Boys and Bryan Adams a lot as a kid, but not much anymore. Not that they're bad though.

Wasn't she 45 years old when the band formed? The milk went bad before Reagan left office.

Alvin & the Chipmunks. The Christmas Song is still good for nostalgia though!

On another note...Oh My God... I had no idea they had so many albums!

I'm a huge TS fan, but I always change it because I haven't needed to hear I Wanna Rock or We're Not Gonna Take It since about 1986.
Still listen to all the albums with the exception of those two songs.

GnR
Motley

On the flip side I’ve really been going hard on White Lion, Ratt, Extreme and AC/DC….all bands I was very casual about back then.
