Now? Yeah, for sure. I guess the question is, at what point did he really lose his faculties? He's been BEYOND depressing to listen to with the show that he does on the Boneyard, to the point where I don't know how he's not in an assisted living facility.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 3:18 pm I don’t think he does. Just reading Iommi’s book where they tried to do a Sabbath album in the early 2000s and he would show up late, go off to make a cup of tea and be gone an hour, go back into the wrong studio and fall asleep and everyone thought he went home etc … and this is a decade after he got off booze and drugs.
I know we joke about it, but I honestly think that Sharon has controlled every single thing he's done from a business perspective since 1980, and it's altogether possible that either things were legitimately done without his knowledge, and they just told him "Sign here", or if he did know about them, he wasn't coherent at the time to realize what was really going on. Like, do you think THE OSBOURNES was his idea? Fuck no, it was Sharon all the way, and Ozzy went along with it because he didn't want to cross the boss.
And to be clear, as stated, I don't think he's a saint, and it's completely possible that he knowingly treated all the guys poorly. I just think it's near impossible to know how much he was sober for, how much he was incapacitated for or did when he was drunk or high, and how much was done by Sharon and he was willfully ignorant of.
Honestly, if I was a conspiracy theorist, I would say that he wasn't in control until he got "sober" around 1988, and then after a few years of being lucid, Sharon didn't like Ozzy being able to think for himself, so all of a sudden, Ozzy gets misdiagnosed with MS due to being loaded up on drugs, and Zakk, who knew "sober" Ozzy, gets banished as to not ask too many questions and conflict with Sharon's decision making.
