It has to be "Say Say Say" by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.

Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat is a great song and a big hit in the 70's, but you don't hear it mentioned or played often. Maybe somewhere else it is.

Stairway To Heaven
Never mind the "borrowed" opening descending riff that tbh, wasn't exactly original to Spirit either, the rest of the song and its building crescendo to the ultimate climax is an absolute masterpiece. I can't even imagine how it must've felt to hear the final mix played back in the studio for the first time before unleashing it on the world a few months later

Until It Sleeps- band was supposed return to thrash sound. We got this. Song is great just not Metallica
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

In fact the whole Black Album.
Mate Dave said at the time, if it had been Motley’s next release it would have been amazing.
As a Metallica record it was sub par.

After the big “sellout” era rumors were band was returning to the classic sound. But we got Black cd II .
Fuel is the absolute worst from that era. Even now all the douche bags love this..song gets top 5 reaction every show..I almost vomited when this happened at Sofi show
The real answer to question is any song Lance Eric did with Bang Tango
First 2 singles from Chinese Democracy are 100% garbage…Better vomit….i was so sad when I heard this

It is a great song. A lot of Al Stewart's albums and songs were very good. He still plays a lot of shows each year. (His old guitar player, Tim Renwick, played as live second guitarist for Pink Floyd from '87 to '94.)Hellsinkey wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:42 pm Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat is a great song and a big hit in the 70's, but you don't hear it mentioned or played often. You're right about not hearing it played much. Classic/album rock stations still played it and "Time Passages" through the 80s, as did some oldies stations, but that hasn't been sustained over the past few decades, except for the rock stations that do those Sunday morning, classic rock deep dives. I think of heard him played on that classic vinyl channel on Sirius. That's the only satellite station my father plays.

Odd - I've never heard it, but I got sick of Time Passages as a kid after hearing it a million times.Hellsinkey wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:42 pm Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat is a great song and a big hit in the 70's, but you don't hear it mentioned or played often. Maybe somewhere else it is.

Much like Gerry Rafferty. Classic rock stations only play Baker Street and Right Down The Line, but the entire City To City album is excellent.CrankerBait wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 3:52 amIt is a great song. Funny coincidence that you mention, Gerry Rafferty in this thread. I actually have a Spotify playlist that is half Al Stewart, and half Gerry Rafferty. All of City to City is great, and each of his other albums generally had at least three or four really good songs. Like Kate Bush and another big British artist largely ignored in North America, Chris Rea, Rafferty barely if ever played on this side the pond.Gibsonite wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 10:03 amMuch like Gerry Rafferty. It's 50 years old... how fucking long are they supposed to play it? Half the people who liked it when it came out are dead now.CrankerBait wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 3:52 amIt is a great song.
