Was this a demo? This could actually have worked with a better arrangement --- bigger drums, horns, and maybe some background singers on those high notes.
Then again, my favorite Bond songs sound a touch "off-brand" - like "View to a Kill" and "Live & Let Die". I even like "Die Another Day" for what it is.
When you try too hard to sound like a Bond song (see: Sheryl Crow), it falls flat.
The Pet Shop Boys had a song that was up for Bond movie contention, but ended up on one of their own albums. It totally works either way:

The sound of a band dying.

Thanks that was a cool listen for a Sunday morning!
Re: The REAL reason they rejected Alice Cooper's song for the Bond movie
I'm a big a-ha fan & saw an image of a cd which had their version of "The Living Daylights", along with 4 or 5 other songs of the same name from different bands/artists. One of them was by the band Farrenheit, which included Charlie Farren (semi legendary Boston rocker). I ran into Charlie a few years later, asked him about it & he claimed that, for Bond movies, they solicit songs from 5/10 bands/artists & pick the theme from there.

It's OK. Alice still got songs in Wayne's World and Friday The 13th part 6.

That's all I needed to hear to understand why it wasn't used as the theme. Alice can and has done better. The man with the golden gun

I agree with EuroJR that it's a bad song

Live & Let Die and A View to a Kill are my favorites too.Mister Freeze wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 7:17 am Was this a demo? This could actually have worked with a better arrangement --- bigger drums, horns, and maybe some background singers on those high notes.

When I was a kid, I liked For Your Eyes Only and The Spy Who Loved me too.

"A View to a Kill" is the best Bond theme. Period. And I could see that Alice song fitting in with the camp that the Roger Moore-era Bond films had become, but at the same time it doesn't exactly scream Bond. Lulu did it better.
