Being a dog lover this is the strangest thing to me as it was locked in a dog cage in a closet? I believe it was a German Shepherd who are incredibly smart so that's weirdest part of t his weird story to me especially with the other 2 dogs surviving.

"New Mexico officials concluded Betsy died February 11, and the cause of death was Hantavirus ... a serious and rare disease which can be fatal.

Gene died February 18. An autopsy revealed the 95-year-old had a history of cardiovascular disease, along with advanced Alzheimer's. He had a history of heart attacks and high blood pressure. Although the medical investigators did not use the words "heart attack," it seemed they were going in that direction, although the medical investigator said she could not squarely say that was the cause. They did say heart disease was the cause of death, and Alzheimer's was a significant contributing factor. The Sheriff says it appears Betsy's body was in the house for a week while Gene lived in the same house until his death a week later. Investigators made it clear ... Gene was in poor health and the Alzheimer's may have created confusion, which could explain why he never called authorities. Investigators say it's possible Gene did not know his wife had died, because of the Alzheimer's."

That's sad and creepy. He lived in the house for another week without understanding that she was dead.

Authorities now saying Gene Hackman's pace-maker was still "active" 10 days ago, on Feb. 17th...

But... his much younger wife (30+ years) was already mummified when their bodies were found.... which, according to Google, that would take several weeks, to a month or more for that to set in!

She either dropped dead, and he was so F'ing old, he walked right past her for weeks until he dropped dead...

Or...

He off'd her ass... knowing he was going to buy the farm soon, and didn't want to leave her with all his doe!

My Mom fell in the bathroom on a Friday night last June and laid there until Saturday morning at 11am when I showed up.

My Dad had dementia and didn't say a word about her falling when I got there. We sat on the couch and drank coffee. Finally I got suspicious and went into the bedroom and that's where I found my Mom. She had been laying there for approximately 14 hours and my Dad had completely forgotten about it. If I hadn't shown up that Saturday this could have easily happened to them.

My Dad passed away a week later.
