Recommend a CLASSIC "hair metal" (sorry, Trunk) album I may not be familiar with

The one that started it all. Spreading gossip and insults since 1998.

Smashed Gladys, Social Intercourse. Female fronted bluesy and sleezy hair metal.

Thanks for the tip, I’ve never heard about them before. So You Ran at least sounds like a top notch classic AOR cheese, in a great way.

The video is also awesome, Haha The guitarist who is the star of the story is definitely not portayed as a traditional confident 80s alpha guitar hero.

EDIT: Damn, my bad. Only now I actually realised who the guys in the band are and rememberd that this is actually Boston related. Not familiar faces for me. Well, you learn something new every day.
Yeah... very good stuff here... and like you said, VERY AOR!

Anything better than listening to Arcade debut driving to see the tour? First time getting chance to hear the Ratt singer live…did all the cd and Round N Round at the end.
Met the singer after the show and got setlist signed
All this awesomeness with Spaghetti Factory next door
Then driving to Tower Records blasting the cd

Get Arcade #1 Screamin’ S.O.S.!!!!

It is very AOR, and a great CD. You can see why Boston had Fran Cosmo as the singer on Walk On. I love that CD, It still to this day takes me back to where I was in 1994.

The 1st Arcade cd is really good. If you like Ratt, you will love this.

Pearcy's 2 solo albums are also exceptional.

I think he is quite familiar with that album and the Kix album.
Ratt, yes; Kix, NO. Never really checked anything out pre-BYF. Songs here and there but I'm not sure I've ever listened to a whole album front to back.

Super impressed with the responses here. A handful of these I've never even heard of, looking forward to checking them out.

I should've mentioned I'm slightly resistant to AOR type stuff but I'm fairly open-minded about anything that isn't ska-punk or reactionary politics.

Kix albums are all fairly solid including their 95 release show business. Unlike their contemporaries they released an album in 95 that could have come from 85. The only Kix album I don't like is their most recent one. Which makes sense as that album is missing their main songwriter.

I think you will really enjoy their first album. Not them at their most hair metal but full of really good hooks.

For some reason I never liked the second Kix album, Cool Kids.

The first one is my favorite. As was said, it's not the most "hair metal" but it is great pop metal/hard rock/anthems record.

It helps to know that it was recorded by Tom Allom between Point of Entry and Screaming for Vengeance, and has that punchy-metal-but-not-really sound like the two Priest albums before Screaming.

The 1991 album from RTZ, which has Barry Goudreau AND Brad Delp, is much better. It had three solid AOR singles:

"Face The Music" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSFmxwhSVX0
"All You've Got" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAmBiQ93oPM
"When Your Love Comes Back Around" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIHIz98tYDg

Man, I had completely forgot about this album. Played the hell out of it back in the day. Just a good fun album. Blasting it now, and it's as good as I remember.

Yeah it’s a good one. Chelsea Rose is killer. Bed of Roses. Awesome vocals by Steve Jack. Billy Duffy and Richie Sambora also on guest spots. Hardly anyone remembers this album but I loved it

Spread Eagle-Switch Blade Serenade
Electric Angels-Electric Angels
Little Caesar-Little Caesar
Child's Play-Rat Race
Bangalore Choir-On Target

I second the earlier mention of Sweet FA.

So many bands of this era slipped through the cracks, there were several labels who had no idea how to market hair metal.

Don't like: Extreme, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, W.A.S.P., Vain, Mr. Big
First off.....EVERYONE likes VVI......you just don't know it yet!

I see a few mentions of Child's Play - Rat Race - I agree this is really good.
Also, Electric Boys - Funk-o Metal Carpet Ride
And "Get up n Shake" by Attraction is a decent unknown hair metal gem!
