Is it worth seeing Supersuckers these days?
I know there are fans here, I don't think I've ever seen them except maybe once at a festival decades ago. I've just seen they're playing a club in London next month. But are they any good after all these years?

They were very good when I saw em in Sheffield a couple of years back. Down to a three-piece now so maybe not quite as chaotic as they were in the glory days, but still a damn good show.

I'm curious of this as well. I've seen them bunch of times previously, but lost interest when Rontrose left. I like some of their newer stuff as a three-piece, but I'm not sure how the classics would hold up as one.

Saw them last year supporting MacSabbath.
And no is the answer.
And no is the answer.

They were my personal kings of rock for close to a decade, culminating with their 2008 20th Anniversary show in Seattle.
Since then, it's a completely different beast. The twin Gold Top interplay was a key component of their appeal, and the three piece simply can't recreate that. The classics sound like 'framework' versions, and, due to some unfortunate health factors, Eddie's voice is completely different now.
I saw them last year for the first time since '08, and there was no fire. Paycheck RnR. I walked away feeling a little sad. In their heyday, they were SO good.

Unfortunately, no. They used to be awesome. I saw them last summer and I felt sorry for them.

Unfortunately both Metal Marty and Eddie are better solo acoustic but the Supersuckers have lost a lot of power in the last decade or so.

I loved the Supersuckers back in their heyday, but now, I’d rather see The Hangmen.

They toured together in 2023. Hangmen tore it up, and bringing Eddie out for Coal Mine was a definite highlight. Couldn't stay for Supersuckers.Ozzy Stradlin wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 1:19 pm I loved the Supersuckers back in their heyday, but now, I’d rather see The Hangmen.
