Ace would like to be inducted into the RnRHOF as a solo artist

The one that started it all. Spreading gossip and insults since 1998.

Ace would like to be inducted into the RnRHOF as a solo artist

Post by HueyRamone »

This one made me actually laugh out loud!!

"And I’d love to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist, not with Kiss. I’m the most successful solo artist of the four original members and I’d like to be acknowledged as that.”

Article isnt new, but still good.
https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/gui ... ena-return

I also was amused that the article praised "Cherry Medicine" which might be the worst song I've ever heard by him, I laughed at that, but not out loud.

Other gems:

• I just got a beautiful casino date at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, where I'm headlining a 9,000-seat arena.”
• “God has given me so many talents; I almost feel guilty that I don’t use them. I’m looking forward to doing more while I still have time left.”
• “I can still play the solo for Shock Me note for note; I can still play the solo for Deuce note for note.
• The last guy I knocked out was actually a Hell’s Angel – but that was like 20 years ago!”

Well, if the RARHOF had a category for most successful solo career compared to other members in their original group I suppose he would be in the running.

Even then, he wouldnt. Gene and Paul have always been in KISS. Peter Criss isnt any competition at all.
Ace was never on a major label and never went gold. Some standard for the HOF.

I don't care how much of a joke the HOF is, or what arbitrary rules they use. There's no objective reason why Ace should considered for even a nomination.

I don't know Gene's Asshole is right up there with Peter's One for All and Paul's Live to Win is pretty shitty. The competition sucks all around.

I'll take Second Sighting over all of those.

I was trying to come up with a good joke here, I tried Tom Cochrane but I dont think its clever unless its a band thats in the RRHOF.

Anyone want to make a list of solo artists from RRHOF bands that have absolutely no reason to be in the RRHOF individually?

Also, in case anyone's curious:

Musicians Inducted Twice:
Clyde McPhatter: Solo artist (1987) and with The Drifters (1988).
Jimmy Page: With The Yardbirds (1992) and Led Zeppelin (1995).
Ronnie Wood: With The Rolling Stones (1989) and Faces (2012).
Jeff Beck: With The Yardbirds (1992) and as a solo artist (2009).
Paul Simon: With Simon & Garfunkel (1990) and as a solo artist (2001).
Sammy Strain: With The O'Jays (2005) and Little Anthony & the Imperials (2009).
Peter Gabriel: With Genesis (2010) and as a solo artist (2014).
Lou Reed: With The Velvet Underground (1995) and as a solo artist (2011).
David Crosby: With The Byrds (1991) and Crosby, Stills & Nash (1997).
Rod Stewart: With The Small Faces/Faces (2012) and as a solo artist (1994).
Stevie Nicks: With Fleetwood Mac (1988) and as a solo artist (2019).
Carole King: As a songwriter (1990) and as a performer (2021).
Tina Turner: As a solo artist (1991) and with Ike & Tina Turner (2021).
Eric Clapton: With The Yardbirds (1992), Cream (1993), and as a solo artist (2000).
Neil Young: With Buffalo Springfield (1995), Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (2010) and as a solo artist (2000).
Paul McCartney: With The Beatles (1988) and as a solo artist (1999).
John Lennon: With The Beatles (1988) and as a solo artist (1999).
Dave Grohl: With Nirvana (2014) and Foo Fighters (2021)

P.S. Eric Clapton is the only person inducted three times. Good trivia question. I wonder if there's anyone else that a case could be made for three.

Neil Young was also inducted three times. I've thought a bit about the threepeat and the only possible one I could think of would be George Harrison if they ever inducted The Travelling Wilburys but considering everyone in the band is already in, I doubt It'll ever happen.

McCartney is in twice with Beatles and solo. Wings is a stretch but not unrealistic like say The Firm for Jimmy Page.

Aren't Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie inducted twice as both Santana and Journey are in? Or were they in the wrong line-ups? If so, Schon should get in for Hardline :) Kidding but maybe songwriter or musical excellence....

Or VVI. To be honest, if it were up to me and I had to choose between Frehley's Comet and VVI, I'd actually go with Vinnie, but just barely.

There are a few missing from that list though there seems to be some conflicting information as to whether CSN or CSNY were inducted so I may have been wrong when I said Young has been inducted thrice.

Stephen Stills (CSN/Y, Buffalo Springfield)
Ringo Starr (Beatles, solo)
Graham Nash (CSN/Y, The Hollies)
David Crosby (CSN/Y, The Byrds)
Ozzy (Sabbath, solo)
Greg Rollie (Santana, Journey)
Michael Jackson (Jackson 5, solo)
Sammy Strain (O'Jays, Little Anthony And The Imperials)
Curtis Mayfield (The Impressions, solo)
Johnny Carter (The Flamingos, The Dells)

Yeah, when I think of successful solo careers I think of Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Sting, and Ace Frehley.

That Mohegan Sun show was originally advertised as Vince Neil and Ace Frehley. Tickets went on sale. Later, Neil backed out. Frehley headlined and Slaughter was brought in to open the show. IIRC, from a review of the show, there were lots of empty seats.

Dio was not inducted in the HOF as a member of Sabbath and neither Rainbow or Dio were inducted either.

Nice! You're 0 for three! Did you just think we were naming guys who've been in multiple bands?

Ronnie James Dio: Rainbow, Black Sabbath, DIO
Dio was not inducted in the HOF as a member of Sabbath and neither Rainbow or Dio were inducted either.

Nice! You're 0 for three! Did you just think we were naming guys who've been in multiple bands?
Which part of the question posted, " I wonder if there's anyone else that a case could be made for three" didn't you understand, you dumbass?

He meant a case for people actually inducted three times into the HOF! Not in three bands you like!

You're hilarious that you still think you didnt fuck up!

"Ooh, look at me! I've got one!! Paul Stanley! In Wicked Lester, Kiss, and Solo!! Ooh, how about MVP Eric Singer?? In Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Lita Ford, Badlands, and KISS!! That's FIVE!! Look at me, i'm making cases!!"

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.
