Carlos Santana Hospitalized
https://nypost.com/2025/04/22/entertain ... cy-report/
Carlos Santana was hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency as he prepared for a concert in Texas on Tuesday, The Post can confirm.
The 77-year-old icon’s manager Michael Vrionis told The Post, “Mr. Santana was at the [Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Tex.] preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration.”
Vrionis added, “Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his US Tour.”
“Thank you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon.”

Isn't this the 2nd time he's been hospitalized recently for dehydration and cancelled a gig? This sounds vaguely familiar.

Can the manager at least bring him a glass of water?HottKarl777 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 4:59 am Isn't this the 2nd time he's been hospitalized recently for dehydration and cancelled a gig? This sounds vaguely familiar.
That's quite the 6 figure fuckup to happen twice.
I've taken to keeping an electrolyte pack or two in my wallet. Maybe the manager can try doing the same.

It seems that most people don't do a good job at staying properly hydrated, and it also seems that older people have a harder time to the point of needing urgent care. That means drinking water for the most part, not a Coke or beer. Decaf, unsweet tea and some flavored waters that don't have any sweeteners can be fine, too, if you need some variety from water.
I see someone mentioned restoring electrolytes when you're sweating them out in a hot environment so yeah, some Gatorade, in addition to water, is also a good idea.
Note that I'm not a medical professional, but sometimes, I play one on TV.

I definitely do not feel thirsty the way I did when I was younger and the thirst creeps up as tiredness and fatigue pretty quick. Thankfully I stopped drinking soda a long time ago but hot black coffee remains my favorite drink in all weather. I really gotta force myself to drink a tall glass of water as soon as I get out of bed , let that settle and then drink some coffee.MotleyKaos wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 8:16 am It seems that most people don't do a good job at staying properly hydrated, and it also seems that older people have a harder time to the point of needing urgent care. The flavored sparking water is the best, especially if am fiending for sugar.

I had to be carted away in an ambulance after 2nd set (out of 3)
Started sweating profusely (20 degrees and snow on ground) and then dropped like a glam band in 1994.
Ended up giving me an iv and like 3 bags of liquids.
Scared the shit out of me.
Bar owner paid us for the full night.
That was pretty cool

I have almost passed out a couple of times in my life, and that is NOT a fun feeling.Black Stuff wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 8:31 amyep. I recently had to scramble to find a bathroom to pee in while driving from fishing in the middle of nowhere to where I live, which is also, well, pretty much the middle of nowhere. Of course, best I found was a nasty gas station bathroom. It's like the relief from having held it for so long hit me like a wave in there because next thing I know, I was bracing against the wall and sweating like crazy. I turned the water faucet on and started splashing my face because I'll be damned if I was gonna pass out in a gas station bathroom. The Indians running the place probably thought I was on drugs the way I looked. I couldn't tell if one of them was trying to talk to me from behind the counter when I was walking out because my ears were ringing; I just heard gibberish but that might have been the accent. Felt fine after sitting for a few minutes and drinking some water in my car fortunately. Not doing that again.
tl;dr: I about passed out in a gas station bathroom due to having to pee real badly.

Man, I love my coffee black, too. I enjoy it for what it is: a bitter drink! I've read that's a common trait of sociopaths.ijwthstd wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 8:46 amI definitely do not feel thirsty the way I did when I was younger and the thirst creeps up as tiredness and fatigue pretty quick. Retire while you still have some dignity, unlike Ozzy and KISS who lost their dignity years ago.
