Vince Neil 2001-Present
At some point in the 2000s, Vince's management saw what Bert was doing and clearly tried to get him on the same track. Got him a show on VH1, had him on MTV Cribs, and had Desmond Child writing songs for him.But we all know Vince - his fat ass was too lazy to get out of the gate. Didn't release an album, didn't get in shape, didn't do shit but get hammered and play Crue covers at the casino with the Slaughter guys.
Eventually he released an solo album that was all covers except one dogshit original, one rejected Crue song written with Tracii Guns, and some covers.
Promise Me (2005) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQxdFZ0FLz8
The song is a Desmond Child throwaway from Vince's show, but his voice sounds great here. You hear the potential for a solo career that a less lazy man might have had.
Tattoos and Tequila (2010) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL3sJcYf8KU
The one Vince-penned original on his only solo release since Carved in Stone. It is really bad.
Another Bad Day (2010) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSc84qxXUqA
Nikki/Tracii tune intended for Crue that was rejected by Tommy Lee. Good call, Tommy.
Paranoid (2007) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuH4ul7s9FA
Lynch and Neil covering Sabbath. Unfortunately, there is slap bass.
Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress (2010) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K-hC6MQO9o
Hollies cover, but kicks ass. Acoustic guitar is awesome.
and that's pretty much it for ol' Vince. What are your thoughts on this illustrious collection of tunes?

Never heard that before and HOLY FUCK is that bad. Very lazy, cringe attempt at a(nother) stripper song.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 9:31 pm

I dig the Tattoos and Tequila album, I give it a spin every once in a while.

Who'll Stop the Rain is a great arrangement and right in Vince's wheelhouse.
No Feelings is another. Pistol's songs work for him.

The album has GREAT production. “Long Cool Woman” is the prime example.Psychobolia.com wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 12:29 am I dig the Tattoos and Tequila album, I give it a spin every once in a while.

Re: Vince Neil 2001-Present
I dig T&T but the album being covers was a letdown ( dont mind an occassional covers album however) & Vince inability to put the newer songs and/or change up his 9 song setlist (ala Bert) was also a major letdown. If he was to include them solo, it would be a minor reason to go see him.
I have seen some solo shows when he was reportedly sober & they were very good. I have also seen the solo shows when he's been drinking & obviously going thru the motions

Vince didn't even write it.... that was all from the pen of Marti Frederiksen.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 9:31 pm

I love this song. One of those songs I made fun of at first that I eventually found myself listening to unironically. Finally just admitted it's great. I LOVE this song.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 9:31 pmPromise Me (2005) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQxdFZ0FLz8

Always thought it was weird that he never tried to go country. He's got a nasal voice and he's into all that racecar shit. Pretty much does the county fair circuit. Bret's basically targeted that demo, with so many country fans these days being former 80's rock fans.
I think he didn't bother because, like you said, he's just lazy.

I remember him playing the Desmond song on the remaking VN show and the film editors should’ve won an award for making the crowd look like they were really going apesht crazy over a new, midtempo song.

"Surreal Life" 2002 and "remaking vince neil" in 2004 were awesome. In between he was a mess in Hawaiin shirts playing clubs, I saw him then. Missed 2001 "voices of metal", only year missed "rock never stops" supporting tesla, saw a few times him support Poison for an hour after Skid Row. By February 2005 on top again with the reunion tour

I watched a little of The Surreal Life fairly recently and was reminded that he was one of the least insane cast members. In fact, he was downright chill.thunderdan wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 1:12 pm "Surreal Life" 2002 and "remaking vince neil" in 2004 were awesome. Opened up about his daughter, it was heartbreaking.
Meanwhile, Corey Feldman is easily the world's most irritating person.

Re: Vince Neil 2001-Present
Didn't he blow a gasket when they (the cast) visited Las Vegas bc the bus driver didn't take the route he (Vince) suggested? I vaguely remember that.Chip Z'Hoy wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 1:45 pmI watched a little of The Surreal Life fairly recently and was reminded that he was one of the least insane cast members.
