It's totally Hysteria. The lyrics for the chorus are fine but the verses kind of suck and don't go with what he's saying in the chorus. Also sounds very auto tuned but I'm not up on Shinedown so maybe that's his voice.

I'm a pretty big Shinedown fan and I think Brent Smith has one of the best voices in modern rock.LitaStrauss wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 2:04 pm It's totally Hysteria. The part of the lyrics that nags at me is the "Where will we be 12 months from now?" That didn't really fit with anything else and felt like a throw away line that was needed to fill a gap. Everything in the song was referencing the year where the person's loved one was dying and is now dead. Maybe I'm missing something, but who cares about 12 months from now when the song was about the past 12 months?
That isn't a unique issue to this song either. I think there are a lot of examples of Shinedown songs where there are just too many unnecessary lyrics that come across like "we had to put something here" rather than fitting into the flow of the song.
But I still give them a pass for the most part because I like their sound.

So, I get that there's only so many different riffs out there, and at some point, something is going to sound like something else that existed before it.
But, GOD DAMN. I'm sure the Shinedown fans out there won't care, but I could only listen to that for 30 seconds before turning it off. That's worse than some of the stuff that was on A7X's Hail to the King when it comes to being a rip off.

Sounds like a bad AI reimaging of Hysteria.

Why even have real bands if what they write sounds like AI anyway?
