Josh would have left, anyway. He doesn't stay in one place for more than a few years at a time.

It's a bit disingenuous for Josh to complain about being "let go". Clearly, they signed him to a two year contract, and the contract is over, and Grohl simply decided to go with someone else. That's not being let go.

This is the Skid Row/Erik situation all over again, just in reverse.

Grohl's nice guy act is as fake as Spammy's.

Take away the middle age soccer Dad's jerking themselves raw over their man-crush on "everyman" Dave Grohl, the realality is that the band and their output is completely underwhelming.

FreddyFender wrote: Fri May 16, 2025 3:51 pm It's an uncharacteristic post from a pro like Josh. He has a strong enough reputation that he'll get away with it, but 99% of guys looking to land the next big gig ain't making a post along the lines of "Disappointed the Foo Fighters fired me  "

They'd make a diplomatic post like the one we got from Frank Ferrer: https://www.instagram.com/_frankferrero ... TqU/?hl=en

Exactly and an on-point example.

Josh has never been fired before. Perhaps he’s a little upset and did something out of pocket. He even said in the post he supports whatever they want to do. You’d think he’d just let the official announcement play out. It’s Dave’s band and he knew that going in, but it’s not like he’ll not get future gigs for a faux pas like this.

Agree. He was very good in Nirvana. Foo Fighters not only have an awful name, but they maybe did one or two "pretty good" songs. I got the first album when it came and found it very underwhelming.

Foo Fighters is a GREAT name! Just listen to how Christopher Walken says it!

Dumb. Not Walken (who is great), but the name. The band isn't wild or weird enough with their musical choices to deserve the reference. Their music is really conventional. Nirvana was a LOT more interesting.

Foo Fighters have always been like if the Goo Goo Dolls had more Husker Du in them than Replacements. It's that 80's "college rock" sound made glossy and pop.

It would surprise me if they let Shane take over. If it didnt work out, then the Dave would look like a real cunt getting rid of him. Guess we will find out soon enough who is the new drummer. Its like the old saying goes, Taylor was family, and putting Shane on the spot, well its never good business to do business with family. But wtf do I know.
I'm finding it difficult to masturbate to this. I'm trying, I just have so little to work with...

He was outstanding in A Perfect Circle.

Foo Fighters are easily the worst most popular hard rock band. Hookless dreck. They make Coldplay and Radiohead sound compelling.

It's worked out just fine for Cheap Trick. Not every situation is the same.

Seems crazy to take a kid whose dad OD'd living the rockstar life and throwing him into the exact same situation at his age.

Hopefully its a more of a Metallica situation where they're just going to hate anyone who replaces the guy, and it'll take a while until they can really bring in a true new member that works out.

Doesn't necessarily seem particularly weird to me.

Could easily be a standard case of big name band's longtime drummer dies suddenly, they snap-hire the best of the best professional drummer to keep the show on the road, he gets the job done but isn't an ideal fit for whatever reason(s), and they eventually move on.

He's a killer drummer but not a good fit.

This is the guy they should get: Kyle McGrail (Mod Sun's drummer). Dude would be a perfect fit. He covers lots of FF songs on his YouTube channel and would do very well in this gig. Check out his covers below

Josh Freese played drums on almost all the songs on Revis debut album Places For Breathing

He wouldn't have left. They were giving him $1 million per year, almost unheard of for a hired hand drummer.

Agreed. But he's never going to sniff money like that ever again, so between being completely blindsided and losing out on the best gig imaginable, his public reaction was fairly tame, even though it was still completely unprofessional.

Can’t find shit about it. If it is indeed Paul I’d be interested to hear what he did.
First I've heard of this!

And he also did the theme song to something called Rainbow Rangers?

This can't be it:

I guess he's not as MIA as I thought but this got even more mystifying.
the Amazon listing for Superhero Kindergarten specifically says "music by Paul Westerberg of The Replacements etc". what da fuk
