Last week/week before last, I saw Pulp twice. Once at the Hollywood Palladium, once at Hollywood forever Cemetery.

Both shows were great, but the cemetery one had a real VIBE. That venue always does, there outdoors with the tombstones of dead famous people and palm trees silhouetted against the Hollywood hills. Sort of a weird yet magical setting. I was also way closer at the cemetery, probably 50 feet from the stage, and with a frontman as entertaining as Jarvis Cocker, it's good to be up where you can really see the fucker.

Thennnn, alerted by ijwthstd that good tickets were going cheap at resale, last night I saw Paul Weller at a nice little theater downtown (The Orpheum). It was a superb show, with a great vibe, FANTASTIC sound, great setlist and a great band. 29 songs over 2 1/2 hours.

The only downside I could see was that the usually dapper Mr. Weller seemed to have lost a bet or something, doing the show in a sweater-vest with no shirt under it and rolled up chino pants. It looked like he had gone clam digging, and couldn't decide if it was cold or warm.

Maid of Ace's wife, I used to be in a band with. Once was on a radio show with Maid of Ace. I accidentally got them and the host in an argument and Maid threw a beer can in anger and it hit Sleeks gf in the face.

You'd think you'd be happy anyone else knew what Maid of Ace was. But, sadly not. Guess you live a sad life, full of being sad about things. Sad. That's sad. That you cant be happy.

best recent concert - Lords of Altamont with Creepy Creeps at Casbah, San Diego

Creepy Creeps had awesome go-go dancers, don't see that everyday

Lords Of Altamont brought some old school rock just the way we like it, low down and dirty

Tickets were $20 ... need more concerts at this price

Spent the night at hotel down the street, walked to show and enjoyed noshing in Little Italy on the way. win-win-win!!

Concerts are awesome! Never turn down the opportunity to go out and see live music... especially if you live in a depressing city with nothing else ever going on.

Hope that review helps!

Friday I went and saw Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.

It was my first time seeing Dylan so I was a little afraid, since people are always saying he sucks live, but I really enjoyed it.

I wasn't there for the whole show (I stopped on the way to catch some of Rockett Mafia, since it was on my walking path) but the songs I saw, Dylan was playing piano and singing and it was pretty great. Came across kind of like Tom Waits with a slightly higher voice.

Willie was Willie, great as always. Motherfucker's voice just sounds like truth and life and stuff. The band was just Willie and two other guys on acoustic guitars, a harmonica player (who was really great), a drummer who just had a snare and played with brushes, and for some reason, John Stamos playing bongos and shakers.

Willie is 92, so he takes breaks by letting one of the other guys sing a song occasionally while he just adds whatever backups and guitar he fucking feels like.

This works surprisingly well, as it gives a break from Willie's world-weary voice of the infinite and lightens things up. One of the other guys is Willie's son Micah who sang songs like: " Everything is Bullshit" and: "If I die when I'm high, I'll be halfway to heaven".

All in all a great show, and the kind of thing that is a finite quantity now. One of the songs Willie sang was "Last leaf on the tree", and both he and Bob are the last of their respective scenes, creatures from a different world.

Saw Miljenko Matijevic from Steelheart play a solo acoustic show at a pub in my area in Stockholm last weekend. Just him with a guitar on a small stage, one hour and six songs, mostly Steelheart but also at least one Steel Dragon song from the Rockstar movie. Speaking of rockstars, Mile is still a rock star with a great voice and stage presence, but the show was nothing special. Maybe because the sound was terrible, which Mile complained about a couple of times, or maybe because the place wasn't even half full which was sad to see. That said the show wasn't well promoted except on Pub Anchor's facebook.

Someone had made a leather jacket that looked like the one on Steelheart's debut album cover and handed to Mile, he got the biggest cheer of the evening when he held it up. He also introduced the song Electric Chair by saying how he had an accident on stage and when he got out of hospital after 8 months (!!) he found that he was broke and the manager had stolen hundreds of thousands dollars which ended the band. I remembered the accident but not how bad it was and that their manager ripped them off around the same time.

Would like to see him with some version of Steelheart in a bigger venue and decent turnout, but what are the chances of that?

Saw Ministry the other night with Die Krupps and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult.

Die Krupps was first to take the stage. IMO they were the best band of the night, I'd go see them again for sure.

My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult wasn't all that great. I'm not familiar with them at all. I liked about a third of the tunes that they played. Could hardly hear the vocals which is kinda weird as they don't even have a guitarist. Just bass, keyboards and drums.

Ministry only played stuff off their first two albums (With Sympathy and Twitch).

They were okay. The songs were "updated" by adding more guitars. Still...I prefer my Uncle Al louder, faster, angrier and more metal/industrial. That early stuff is a little too thin and dance oriented for my liking but it was still a decent show.

I'm hoping Die Krupps make their way out here again on a headlining tour, I'd go for sure. They don't seem to tour North America very much.

I saw the ad on Facebook and was very surprised. Of course I would have seen the gig if it was here.

What a POSER!

"Al Jourgensen insists that he was pressured by Arista into composing new wave material, and has consequentially disowned this record along with much of Ministry's earliest output. He adopts a faux-British accent, once again supposedly on command from management."

On the way home from seeing Winona Fighter, from.Nashville all the way to the UK. Little club, 150/200 people, jam packed ( (c) Poizond13). Catchy, entertaining pop-punk and the band were totally overcome with the crowd reaction. Yeah it's all been done before but they do it right and it's great to see new generations of guitar bands and a mostly young crowd.

Saw Paula Cole in a small place. My wife is a big fan & I've seen her a bunch. She obviously sang & played piano but this time she had a bass, drum & guitar backing her up. It was a bit more rocking this time around, as rocking as Paula can get, anyways.
