I’ve been sleeping on Harem Scarem

Post by ParaDime77 »

Only heard the name in passing here or there. Today a song popped up on a IG post and l thought it was four on the floor goodness with killer backing vox. I understand they are Canadian. For those Sludger’s north of the boarder, are they a big band there? Wwe listening to some the bands newer stuff and it’s really solid! Who’s a fan!?

Love 'em. "Mood Swings" is considered their out-and-out classic but they've been pretty consistent throughout their career. "United" from 2017 is one to check out as well.

Voice of Reason is there best and heaviest cd. Karma Cleansing very good as well. Hey are all solid though and the guitar player is killer.

The first two albums plus Human Nature are must-haves. Their latest, Change The World, isn't bad either.

Pete Lesperance is a damn good guitar player. Kind of in the vein of Nuno, but with more restraint.

"Slowly Slipping Away" should have been a hit, but late 1991 was not the time.

First s/t album has some really good songs. "A Little Love" is a solid rocker, and "Honestly" is a great ballad. Unfortunately, they arrived just a tad too late to have any real success.

Today l listened to “Slowly Slipping Away” for the first time. The harmonies are absolutely next level. Sounds like these guys were pretty big in Indonesia and Philippines after their first two albums.

I think they’re popularity in Europe has helped their longevity and allowed them to keep making albums.
I don’t think they tour often, but their catalog of music is pretty solid. Great mix of anthemic rock tracks and well arranged ballads.

They were never a big band in here in Canada. Not even close to being sorta kinda big even...

Actually "Chasing Euphoria" is their most recent album it came out at the end of April.

I love the self titled, Big Bang Theory, Mood Swings, Weight of the World, & Change the world. Haven't picked up the new album yet.

Still working through the Harem catalog. Great production with Warner Bros. Canada. The snare sound is massive.

“If There Was A Time” - the bands arrangement’s are so great. The bridge on this track very original for 1993, guitar solo by Pete Lesperance is as great as it gets.

Will continue to listen to the other releases.

Degrassi!

Man, that was one of the best show's back in the day. "School's Out" was a great local Canadian flick. RIP Wheels

Also, "Slowly Sipping Away" was my most played song on spotify in 2024. Absolutely love that song.
