Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Last night I watched Russ Meyer's Vixen! and Supervixens, as I had never seen a Russ Meyer film, and Will Oldham was talking about these two in particular in his "What's in My Bag?" episode.
Kind of unwatchable?
The women all looked incredible. Almost shockingly gorgeous. Russ's casting was on-point.
Vixen! isn't socially conscious, it's socially concussed. The plot is so nuts and nonsensical, that if the satire of it is poking fun at the cinema intelligentsia of the 60's, I think it works. But it's also largely unwatchable.
Supervixens is sort of like "The Odyssey" crossed with The Avengers, but with titties.
Vixen!: 4/10
Supervixens: 5/10

Final Destination: Bloodlines 7/10. There is no "connection" to the other movies other than Tony Todd's character is in it.

Where you watching those? I looked a while ago and couldn't really find the Russ Meyers stuff streaming...Chip Z'Hoy wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 4:59 am Last night I watched Russ Meyer's Vixen! and Supervixens, as I had never seen a Russ Meyer film, and Will Oldham was talking about these two in particular in his "What's in My Bag?" episode.

For research purposes, of course.

The Indiepix channel on Amazon has those two and Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens, but I tapped out before that one.

Bring Her Back 8/10 Almost perfect, except for just so much UGH in this movie. If you've seen it, you know what I mean.

Accountant 2. 6/10
On Prime already.
I just watched The Accountant for the first time about 2 months ago. Loved it. This wasn't as good but still entertaining. Could have been a bit shorter.

The Reflecting Skin 4/10 Beautiful cinematography, creepy story, but this film really sucks. Hateful characters impossible to like or even care about. Also animal cruelty, which is a huge NO for me.

tried to watch 5,000 fingers of Dr. T, just couldn't finish it. I got about half way thru it.
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I watched that Captain America: Brave new world order over the weekend.
It was poopy poop with some poop on top of it. I used to casually enjoy the occasional Marvel movie, but maaaaannnn, they've had like a 6 year run of bullshit now. It has gotten to the point where I only watch them to see if they are as bad as I am expecting, and by that metric, they never disappoint.
The plot is bullshit, the dialog is bullshit, the character motivations are bullshit, and it suffers from pushing Anthony Mackie's Falcon into being the lead, which it just makes you miss the Steve Rogers cap. Falcon was asecondary character for a reason. Yeah, he was a charismatic second banana, but still, a second banana.
It is also garishly shot with amateurish direction defeating any depth the movie might have seemed to have on the page and suffers from that whole: "So much CGI it looks like a video game" thing even worse than usual.
Liiiiiike, I dunno. 2/10 maybe? I really didn't give a shit about it enough to do a decent rating, and even now I have trouble remembering much of what happened in it.

Ballerina
6/10
A lot of good fight scenes, but not believable for the simple fact that a woman could easily take on a man and win.
Nothing against women but it's true unless the guy is short and fat.

I revisited "The Colossus: The Forbin Project".. seems appropriate as we head into the now future with AI running everything. It's a good movie from 1970. And a stark warning.

Frogman 7/10 This is hysterically bad mainly because the creators expected us to actually be scared of a . . . . frogman, about 4 foot high, and wields a magic wand. Whatever the fuck.
