Favorite new songs / June 2025

Post by Hair I Go Again »

Pretty slim pickings this month. Here's what stuck:

Volbeat - God Of Angels Trust (favorite song: "By A Monster's Hand," https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTUPgEse6_A)
Surprise of the year for me, as I used to HATE this band. This album has riffs for miles. Great workout record.

Buckcherry - Roar Like Thunder (favorite song: "Roar Like Thunder," https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2IaohwKL7k)
I really wanted to like this album, but much like the band themselves, it never really crossed the line from good to great. I'd rather listen to this than 99% of what else is out there, but at the same time, I'm not sure I'll ever listen to it again.

A2Z - A2Z² (favorite song: not sure yet! Here's one video, though -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN5YNGvJC_8)
A harder-rocking Fates Warning. Quality stuff.

Danko Jones - "Every Day Is Saturday Night" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEU4vGg1cXk) (new album coming in November)
Really wanted to like this more as well. Hopefully the rest of the new record will be better.

Alice Cooper Band - "Wild Ones" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqwLaYFGrn4) (new album coming July 25)
Much better than the first single, IMO. Just a cool retro vibe, but one that's effortless rather than forced.

I dip my forefinger in the watery blood
of your impotent redeemer
and write over his thorn torn brow
the true Prince of Evil
