I'm glad I grew up in the rock and roll/metal era. Bands went out and did it for real, not just for fun on their parents dime. Not just for the photos to post online.

But its over.

I don't wanna see these guys rolled out in wheelchairs and shit. I dont wanna see The Who with a firggin silent stage. I dont wanna see AC/DC playing everything with clean guitar sounds. It's depressing.

As I've mentioned here before, I was at one of the 2 gigs that were recorded for the Reunion album. They were supposed to be 'the last shows' but Sharon had already seen the $$$,$$$,$$$ and subsequently paraded them around the US. Then Bill stood up to her BS and was replaced by Mike Bordin. I'm glad I saw the 'proper' last show, even if it wasn't the last by many years in the 'Ozzy the performing monkey for whatever Sharon demands' saga.

That said, if I'd have scored a ticket to tomorrow I'd have been happy for the rest of the bill even though it'll be karaoke Ozzy and Sabbath for the last hour or so.

I got the live album from that show when it was released. Awful. Because that album was so bad it took me years to actually get into Sabbath.

I assume you're talking about Reunion? If so, same here. I did not care for it at the time at all, and I don't think I've listened to it in 25 years.

Probably need to give it another listen just because, especially since I'm more familiar with the original material now.

I dont remember Reunion being that bad. It sounded like he was talking about the final show, much later on, which I'm sure was a lot worse. Or was Reunion the final show with Bill?

To my knowledge, Reunion is the last thing they recorded with Bill. They did like two shows together in 2011-2012, it seems like, but I don't think those were recorded. That was when Bill gave them the ultimatum about not having a signable contract and quit again, because they only wanted to give him 5 percent.

This whole day is such a great vibe. Everyone showed up and did their part for the group project. The backstage footage earlier of everyone hanging. Even the crowd is awesome. Barely a phone in sight. Ozzy's bringing it the best he can, you can tell he's thrilled, and it's contagious!

Watched three songs of the GNR set. True, Axl is way off singing in a grating range and has been for quite a while. Being said, that rhythm section with the new drummer included is absolutely locked in.

The new GNR drummer is a beast and Axl sounded age appropriate especially with all the non stop running around he does but yeah lower register please, the band sounded amazing. The songs they chose were boring AF.

Honestly, no one was, all day. It was pretty fucking refreshing to actually see an entire day of LIVE music, and not a bunch of prerecorded stuff to go along with light triggers and whatever other bullshit we're doing in 2025.

I bought access to the stream, watched it on the big TV with hifi speakers, so a nice front row experience. Despite the lineup being a bit too US thrash for my taste I ended up really enjoying the entire day - the sets and gaps between were short enough that it held my interest and didn't get boring. The sentiment and atmosphere really carried the event, there's not really anyone else in metal who would've received a sendoff like this and there never will be again. I don't *love* Ozzy or Sabbath but the feelgood vibe of the day made a really nice change from the endless grim news cycle.

After sitting through a lot of Glastonbury coverage last weekend, it was great to watch an event with no political bullshit, no flags being waved or people ranting about the middle east. It was pure escapism and little niggles about the setlist or who played what solo seems a bit petty after a day of pure, honest rock music with a few beers and an emotional farewell to the legends who started the entire genre.

Ozzy's vocals sounded suspiciously good.
Hard to say he was lip synching because his frequent screams in between of "let me see your hands!" were definitely live and it would hard to sync all that stuff up.... but, he generally sang VERY close to the mic and it sounded much better than his speaking voice/ screams.
So maybe as someone mentioned, maybe pitch correction and some kind of audio help?

I'm sure there was all kinds on processing on his voice but he wasn't lip-synching...way too many inconsistencies, ad-libs, pauses etc in his singing for that to not be apparent right way.
